Great Rod!

The Redington Predator is a truly great rod built for bigger fish at an exceptional price. It can huck large streamers with ease and handle a large fish like it is supposed to. It compares well to other heavier rods that are much more expensive. Very happy with my purchase!

Great rod for large flies and casting long distances without breakin the bank! You do need to let a bit of line out for it to flex properly, so longer casts are actually easier. It's excellent for fishing double articulate streamers and other large streamer flies

Fast action powerhouse!

This rod picks up those big flies and places them accurately quickly! This is an ideal streamer rod at a great price. Whether you are fishing it in a 6-8 weight for trout or bass or in a 9 plus for salt water species, this rod can handle it. The Predator's fast action will cast through the wind with ease or quickly present that fly to a moving target. If you're a fan of fast action read more rods, this one will not disappoint.

Best value rod out there.

I picked this up in a 12 wt as a back up rod for a much more expensive salt water rod. Snapped the expensive rod on a pig of a tarpon and put the predator into service....Pleasantly surprised. I am definitely a sucker for "fast-action" rods and typically like a stiffer rod. The predator is not a plank, slower casting really loads this rod up and makes easy work of long double read more hauls once you get the timing down. I spent 4 days throwing huge streamers into the wind and this rod threw as much or more distance with a lot less effort. The drawbacks are: it doesn't inspire the confidence that some of the more expensive rods do when you are fighting big fish. It took significantly longer for me to land fish with this rod because I felt like I had to nurse it a little. I wish the cork were longer...the cork felt very short for a 12 wt...might have contributed to my nervousness while fighting fish, but I would have liked another 3-4 inches for both casting and fighting. Check the ferrules and reel seat often, they can loosen up. Bottom line....there are better rods but not better value. UPDATE: I also picked up a 9wt and it has the same problem with reel seat. Loosens up quickly. make sure to keep an eye on it.

Great for bass, pike, musky

I'm a big Redington fan. 90% of the performance of the big brands at 1/2 the price. I have a 10 and 12 in this rod and use them primarily to chase pike and musky. Good rod to handle large flies and sinking line.

Excellent Big Fish Rod

Great rod for casting big flies and heavy sinking lines. I fished this rod for tarpon and false albacore recently and found my guide raving about it. Great casting action with a slightly softer tip than the broomstick like traditional saltwater rods at 10 and 12 weights. Although described as a fast-action rod, the Predator takes a slightly slower casting cadence but it offers read more a much better fish fighting experience similar to the Orvis Helios 2 rods. I found this was a much easier rod to cast when chasing fish all day and needing to make potentially hundreds of casts. At half to a third of the price of other high end saltwater rods, Redington has a hit on their hands with a great big game rod that is just as good in performance and looks as the Sage, T&T, and Orvis rods in the same line weight.
