Functional and classic

These bars are solid, functional with many different racks and a classic choice for roof bars. They are slightly loud but the sturdiness and ease of use is incomparable.

you need them if you need them

there work great for any accessory you're putting up top. I've had longer bars when driving a smaller vehicle so I could fit a Yakima Rocket Box and two Yakima Front Loaders for bikes. Now I'm in a Jeep I wanted shorter bars that don't stick out as far. on my old bars, I was unable to get the caps off without damaging the bars or destroying the cap. ive used Yakima bars for about 30 years and still love them. attachments work great and install is a breeze.

Beautiful Bars

These have a nice matte polished black color to them, and are very durable/sturdy. The only thing really is the end caps which are a bit cheap and can easily crack. These work great with the Q towers and are easy to install together.

Good Strong Solid Bars! End caps suck...

The only thing Yakima should change is the plastic end caps. Super cheap both in appearance and function and these are therefore liable to both crack and fall off your bars after a period of time. The bars themselves are fabulous and super functional!!

Round is better than square

Like it for what it does. Be sure to silicone glue down the end caps... they come out otherwise. Also, don't over clamp your devices... the rubber does strip.

The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating is because I specifically used the chat function on Back Country to ask if the end caps were included with these bars. I was told that they were included and they're shown in the picture, so even though I know Yakima doesn't generally include the end caps, I though maybe I got luck with Back Country. Nope. It's not a huge deal,… read more but I did have to track down the caps after the rail grabs and bars arrived. The actual bars work great though!

I really like the round bar of the Yakima racks because there are a lot of after-market companies that make compatible accessories and it allows certain accessories like the kayak and front bike wheel holders to be pushed down when not in use. We do not have the faring so it is a little loud but not loud enough to get the faring.

These look great, feel solid, and I know they hold up to time and the elements, as this is my second pair. The first pair is still on my other car, looking great and doing the job worry-free. Synthetic coating is easy to scratch if you're an idiot, and I definitely scratched part of it off during installation. What does that make me? 5 STARS :)

These bars are very solid, I'm sure they will last. Holds 2 highrollers nicely.

These are the right fit for the 1998 Subaru Forester; any other size and I'd risk knocking myself or my passengers out! These appear to be very well made. The heavy and stout feel should equal longevity and security. The bars are also coated to keep weather from wearing away at the metal. They're surprisingly important to keep moisture out to keep your wonderful bars from rusting over time. I've considered putting pvc tape or Loctite on the cap inserts to assure no elements infiltrate the bars. If you're not sure if this is the size you need visit the Yakima.com website, choose the "fit my car" feature and search for your vehicle make and model. It will suggest exactly what's right for you. Likewise, it is also important to consider what you are planning to transport (especially if it is a boat) and make sure the width of the item will fit on these bars securely.

Just right

Bought a set of 48's for the roof rack on my 2010 Hoda Civic that we're using down here in South America. The 48's fit perfect using q-towers with zero overhang. I'd hate to have anything longer sticking outboard of such a small car, lest I should have to wear a helmit all the time getting in and out.

These are the foundation to your Yakima accessories. Fits great on top of my Subaru Outback. I guess I must have bought my rack system before locks were invented as there is no way for me to secure the rack(without spending $150+ on what looks to be a newer mounting system). That is my disappointment with the rack system. In the future I will be purchasing a Thule.

The racks are really easy to steal !! I had the racks pried off my Honda Civic ! $400 dollars down the drain ! Be aware !!
