While I have not had any problem with them coming unhooked I would like a little extra length on the hook or a more aggressive hook angle. Combined with the straps included with the Yakima gunwale brackets my wife and I can load and secure our canoe on my car in less than 5 minutes. Not only do these straps attach quickly they provide invaluable peace of mind when carrying your craft.

These bow/stern tie-downs really make it easy and quick to [re]secure your kayak to your vehicle. High-quality and sturdy materials - definitely recommend for quick set-up/tear-down.

Security-priceless!

I love these tie downs because if I am going far with my boats I feel more secure about having them on the roof with these bow/stern tie downs on there. You always get a little lift when you have kayaks on top of your roof but when I crank these down it really cuts that out. Love em.

Yakima tie down system

I bought the tie-down system from Yakima. It is easy and looks pretty but the hooks are not long enough. When the kayak bounces (which happens because the Yakima saddles have a lot of play) the hooks undo themselves. A helpful modification would be for Yakima to use a hook with a longer curved part at the head.

Yakima Tie Down

I use the tie downs I purchased here to accompany the Yakima Kayak Stacker. The tie down works great. It was easy to set up and adds to the safety of the kayak during transportation. I highly recommend using this to accompany the kayak stacker.
