Wheels Mfg BB30 Adapter For Shimano reviews and deals for sale

Providing added stiffness and weight savings, the BB30 system is offered on a small, but increasing number of race-worthy road frames. The problem lies in compatibility with Shimano's popular cranks, such as Ultegra and Dura-Ace. That's where the Wheels Mfg BB30 Adapter For Shimano comes into play. This nifty solution fits Shimano road cranks to BB30-equipped frames, thanks to its two reducer sleeves that precisely press into the BB30's bearings for wiggle and creak-free performance. Please note that this adapter works with all Shimano and Shimano-compatible road cranks with a 24-millimeter spindle.

Disappointed with the poor, sloppy fit

These had a loose fit in my Ceramic Speed BB30 bearings right out of the bag which created a slight knock when pedaling hard on my trainer. I measured them and they were undersized which means that they have a poor design or poor quality assurance (or both). Any bottom bracket, bearing or bearing adapter should have a light press fit and not a clearance fit. I contacted Wheels Mfg read more looking to get them replaced only to get snarky response telling to me look elsewhere for the problem because they couldn’t have possibly be the cause even though I gave them the measurements. I’ve since replaced them with another manufacturer’s adapters and it all works perfectly because they aren’t loose in the bearings.

Will not fit BB30a or BBright

Wheels Mfg makes an adapter for the wider BB30a or BBright, but despite what the Gearheads will tell you, this one will not work for those size BB shells. I could only find the correct one on the manufacturer website.

Does the job, but not the best.

This is a cheap, effective solution to adapting a Shimano crank to BB30, but it's not the best. Wheels MFG makes two-piece options that are much more secure, reliable, and quiet. This will do the trick for the price, howeveer

Easy, fast, and cheap

This is definitely the easiest and fastest way to convert a 30mm bottom bracket to use a Shimano crankset. Adapters just press in and the kit comes with plenty of spacers to get the ideal chain-line.

Best solution

I wanted to replace the FSA SL-K 11sp crank (590g) on my Cannondale with the Ultegra Hollowtech II (620g) because I thought it would be cheaper than buying new chainrings for the FSA. It isn't, if you really hunt for a good deal (oh well). The spacers fit the BB30 perfectly, but they were too wide. I didn't expect this because they talk about the possible need for spacers @ wheelsmfg.com. read more Too wide meant that the left crank didn't fully engage with the spindle so I took 2mm of the drive side and 5mm off the left side. The spacers are made out of Delron so it wasn't that difficult (took me about an hour with a hand scroll saw, rasp and wet sand paper). Not exactly what you want to do with a brand new product, I know. But I got a perfectly centered crank. The Ultegra's and spacers look great, the left crank is fully engaged, and the ride after 100 miles is perfect. I left the bearing dust covers off because the spacers do a nice job and I would have had to make them even thinner had I left them on.

Easy Fix

It was a quick and painless conversion from BB30 to Shimano. It's an idiot-proof installation.

Perfect fit

Converted a Felt with BB30 to fit a Shimano Ultegra crank. Fit perfectly. No wiggle, no need for spacers. Perfect.

Better options available

These adapters are easy to install and they get the job done. I installed a Shimano Dura Ace FC-9000 crankset (hollowtech II) into my specialized tarmac which has OSBB (which is essentially the same as PF30/BB30). My frame required one of the thicker spacers in order for the 39t chainring to clear the rear chainstay. Was great for a couple rides, but then there was creaking. I talked read more to my Specialized guy and it turns out they make a part just for this sort of thing, and it is made of aluminum. WAY BETTER. super easy to install (tip: put them in the freezer first so they slide in easy to your bearings) and they fit perfectly without spacers and having ridden a few times there are no squeeks, AND they were cheaper. hth photo is of the specialized part

Works perfectly. Easy to fit.

Upgraded the groupset on my Cannondale Supersix to Ultegra 6800. 5 months and 3000 km later it's still perfect - no lateral movement and no creaks.

Well made

Put together a BB30 frame and used a Shimano Ultegra crank - Standard press fit BB30 bearings were installed as recommended, then these two parts just fit perfectly into the bearings. I was amazed that these work so well, and even when cranking out some torque; no creaks, squeaks, or looseness. Great product.

Hi Guys, just making my listing for the ideal Triathlon bike. I'm planning on getting a 2015 BMC Timemachine TM01 frameset. It says that BB must be a 30. Will it work if I buy a Ultegra 6800 BBR60 and place this adapters?

I have a bb68 English thread frame but purchased a bb30 SRAM red crank. Will this product make the two compatible?

I Have a new Cervelo P2 11 SPD and I bought an Ultegra 6800 crankset and a SM-BBR60 Bottom Bracket to upgrade the group (the bike comes with a FSA PF-30 Botton Bracket and a FSA Gossamer BBright™ 52/36 crankset). Can I use this adapter to fit the Ultegra group?

I'm not totally familiar with all the...

I'm not totally familiar with all the standards, are SRAM/GXP cranks (which also have 24mm spindles) compatible with this adapter? Right now my frame has an adapter for threaded 68mm shells (to then add a standard GXP BB to it), but it seems unnecessary if this will work with my SRAM Red GXP crankset and BB30 bottom bracket.
