Gore-Tex gives this two-layer shell reliable waterproof, breathable protection, and fully taped seams prevent snow from seeping through. I ordered the wrong size

I normally wear a size 32l 34w in jeans and I was worried about the waist being too small so I got the large. Unfortunately I should have gotten the medium as the large was too big all around. The legs were way too baggy and although the waist could be tightened to fit I had plenty of adjusting to play with. I purchased the black print by mistake instead of getting the all black read more pants. The black print is more of a brown and reminiscent of a cow hide:o I’m returning these and getting medium in black. ***update So I received the medium in black and they fit much better, although I barely fit in the waist area. I would say that if you are of a medium build get the medium (unless you are taller than 6'2"). I normally wear a shell and sweats and have never been cold with that setup while skiing in Tahoe. These are thicker than a shell only type pant and I think I'll be ok with either no sweats or a base layer except maybe on the coldest of days. If this site allows it I'll update the review after they get some use.

Not too big at all...

No idea what these other reviewers are saying. I am 6 foot exactly and 199 lbs. I sized down and got mediums because everyone was complaining about how baggy these pants were (including a guy below who is my exact size)... I could barely pull the mediums on over my hips, and once I did they fit like skinny jeans. Could barely button them as well (Size 33-34 waste). I returned them read more obviously. Unless you have twig legs, don't size down.

Volcom gore-tex pant

Best pant product I’ve bought yet. Warm but light and very comfortable.

Baggy, Crappy Snap, & Too Green

These pants are really baggy. The (single, many brands have two) snap in the front pops open really easily even if the waist is properly adjusted. You could not wear these without a belt. Finally, the color I ordered (called Black Green) is just plain straight up green. And not like a muted greenish; like "hey, look how green my pants are" green. They do seem well constructed read more but there is no chance I am keeping them. Very disappointed. Plus I just found out you have to pay for your own shipping when you return with Backcountry.

Great Buy - Gets the Job Done

These pants may be a little baggy. Fine. They may be a little crunchy and not stretchy. But they are reliable and get the job done. They're goretex are packed full of the important features. The ones that matter. Mesh on the inside. Spring skiing without a long baselayer was just fine. When it's chilly just ad bottom base layer. Done. Multiple pockets. Excellent venting. I've read more tried several pants. Most were too "modern". Another word for tight and restrictive. These allow plenty of movement. We can always search for the perfect gear, but these pants have fit, performance, and functionality. I'm pretty confident I can take these to a resort or back country and be set.

Solid Gore Pants

Not a lot of bells and whistles with them. They're gore and keep you dry. Id be nice if they had a pass pocket though.

They're ok

After reading all the great reviews I bought these pants. I was looking for a high performance, single shell, lightweight, waterproof pant for spring skiing. Once they arrived the first thing I noticed is that these are the crunchy, stiff, non-stretchy, and thick type of goretex material. They're also way oversized and 90's baggy. I'm 6'0 200lbs and a large felt like I was wearing read more an outdoor tarp sewn into a pair of hammer pants even though they fit correctly at the waist. They do appear to be very waterproof and durable. Overall, they're a decent entry/mid level pant but in my opinion are way overrated and are not high performance. Backcountry made the return quick and easy which is much appreciated.

Awesome Pants

So I sent on these after reading reviews. Most said they ran a little large so being 5’ 9” and 150 I decided on size small. Was nervous I mad the wrong choice but they came in today and fit perfect. Still have room to move and stretch. Definitely worth the money. Also got the L jacket and the zip tech between both is really sweet. 10/10

Great pants

Light weight, warm and water resistant. Plenty of room to bend and move around easily.

The Best

I pulled the trigger on the Gore-Tex after sitting in a puddle on the lift chair one too many times. Gore-Tex is spendy but totally worth it. And at this price it’s not much more than big brand “waterproof” fabrics. These pants rock a nice profile—not too baggy and not too slim. They’re easy to move in and they have all the read more right features: zip vents, good pocket depth, adjustable waistband. (I noticed some reviews saying they run big. The adjustable waistband fixed me up perfectly without bunching. I’m 6’2” and 200, wear a 34 waist and these are perfect after a slight adjustment of the waistband.) They’re not lined, so you can layer up on cold days or rock them as is. I generally don’t layer under these and stay plenty warm. Lined pants tend to make me sweat. All in all a great value. Not only would I recommend, I might buy another color or two.

Volcom gear is just solid.

I’ve been replacing all my gear with Volcom stuff the past few seasons. They nail it every time. I’ve tried a ton of different brands and

Keeping me nice and warm on the chair!

I told all my family and friends before this winter that it was going to be brutally cold out regardless the amount of moisture we accumulate. We are already off to a great start snow-wise but those cold temps and wind have also been coming in abundance. I love the fit of this pant right away and the Gore-Tex membrane really does a great job of blocking any wind or moisture. Volcom read more was the first brand that I used to snowboard with 20 years ago, glad to come full circle!

Tioght like a Tioga!

Fit nice and snug, no extra stuff flying around. Love the zippered pockets and the best of all is the zip-tech, saves me evertime!

Want to stay warm and dry?

I wear these on even the coldest days without anything more than a pair of boxers underneath - they are the best at cutting out the wind, keeping in the heat and staying bone dry. I liked them so much, I bought a second pair (XL for 36" waist), as well as a pair for my son (L for 34" waist). My only complaint is that the button has a tendency to 'pop', despite the fact that you read more can adjust the waistband with built-in velcro straps (VERY nice feature to get a perfect fit). I've had it happen on both pairs I own, and my son experienced it as well. Seems like the button is just a little too forgiving, but nothing that a mesh belt cannot remedy. While they are a little more expensive than pants without Gore-Tex, the level of warmth and dryness that these pants provide is worth it - not to mention the fact that they are super-durable and sport a clean look. Plenty of secure pocket space.

Wish they fit better

Bought these as an alternative to the Burton Gore-Tex Ballast Pant - was hoping the fit would be slimmer. the fit wasn't slimmer and they were actually way oversized - I would go down a size. BUT, the quality looked amazing and the features were all there - for sure worth a look.

Worth The Coin

For whats on the market for Gore-Tex, these pants are a great deal. Bought these Volcom pants for 2018/2019 season on sale. So far they've kept me dry and warm for just being a shell. The butt does run a bit tight, also these pants are not baggy by any means. They have a nice boot flair so that you can cover bulky boots no problem.

tight a$$

purchased large, needed xl. i'm a pretty fit guy but have a bit of a beer gut. these pants fit well on legs. they're loose, but not too "baggy". length was true. tight on hip and butt regions. probably would've split em right up the butt crack, so i had to return. appeared to be a decent product otherwise to build snowmen, kick cornices or snow blow the driveway.

Very Baggy

It's hard to find a Gore-Tex pant in the $200 range so I purchased these, they seemed to be well-made, however they were very baggy, which ultimately brought me to return them. They are especially baggy around the knees, and the material on both legs rubbed together a lot when walking. They might be fine for resort riding but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone planning on doing read more much hiking.
