The North Face Canyonlands Hooded Fleece Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale

There's nothing like climbing in perfectly cool fall weather—not too cold, but just right. But when the sun hides and the temperatures start to dip while you've still got a few pitches left to go you're going to need reliable warmth. That's why The North Face created the Canyonlands Hooded Fleece Jacket. Made from a technical stretch fleece fabric, this full-zip hoodie lets you move freely on the rock while shielding you from chilly temperatures. It's specifically designed to withstand wear when you're scaling abrasive cliffs or hiking through tight slot canyons, and still maintains the soft inner comfort you need to stay warm on fall trips to the desert. A fixed hood with a micro-elastic binding provides a snug fit when you need to bundle up in chilly weather, and the same design is used in the hem to help seal in your warmth as the sun sets over sprawling desert canyons.

Great for Summer Hiking

This light hooded fleece is a great jacket to keep in the hiking bag for the top of the mountain when it gets cold and windy. It's just thick enough to keep the cold and wind from getting to you on a cool mountain summit, and if it's a bit colder/windier, it's perfect with a shell. I use it in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and I've never had issues, even in the shoulder seasons. read more I got the blue color, which is VERY bright, but it works. I bought the large which fits a bit loose on me, but I like the range of motion. I think the medium would have been too constricting due to the trim fit.

North Face Canyonlands Hooded Sweat Shir

Great warmth to weight ratio. Nice pockets. Have two. Miss the thumb holes on the sleeve. (They were omitted.) Like the idea of snug-fit hood, as claimed.

Nice

Very happy with the purchase, although I haven't had a chance to fully test it out. It appears well made and the fit is nice.

Legendary piece of Clothing

I bought the hooded version of the Canyonlands series For the past 5 years and haven’t looked back. Since, I have purchased four half zip no hoods and 5 Hoodies from the line. Its lightweight, versatility in varying temperatures, and durability are a few of its exceptional traits. This is the jacket I grab if I’m coldweather camping or taking a quick walk downtown. read more Its stitching stretches for athletic activities and stays tight for a night out. Five years later and I couldn’t recommend a better jacket. Also, its fairly weatherproof as long as your aren’t expecting it to a PNW coast downpour.

Wonderful "jacket"

Honestly, it's really just a really nice zippered sweatshirt. But I really like it. It fits well. I have worn just this as my outer layer, with just a t-shirt underneath, down to about 50F and been just fine. Colder than that, I add a windbreaker, and it's perfect. Will likely be my go to mid-layer for the PNW winter.

Fit is good, but it is super light.

I own a couple NF jackets and never had a problem with warmth, but this jacket is super thin. When I hold it up to the light, I can see through it. This wouldn't be a problem if it still kept me warm, but the wind cuts right through it when I'm walking in the evening. Mind you, I live in San Diego, so we're talking low 60s temperatures at most. I know it says its a casual jacket, read more so I want expecting much, but this was even below my low expectations. What's more, I paid less for similar NF jackets on the same order where I bought this one, and they are considerably warmer. I contacted customer support to try and get my money back, but they only offered me an exchange or store credit. From what I can tell, there's nothing wrong with the jacket, so I don't see the point in exchanging it, but I would not recommend this jacket for anyone, really. Any light wind will cut right through it.

This is a great jacket, just like any TNF product you can be sure you are getting great quality and style. It's true to size and it's warm. I totally recommend it!

Excellent hoodie

This is now my new favorite hoodie. It is very well made and looks fantastic. It has large pockets and long sleeves. The best bargain for a great looking hoodie.

Light Hoodie

The Canyonlands Hoodie is a great lightweight model, perfect for casual or active wear. The hard-face fleece helps to block the wind a bit better, while staying soft and cozy on the interior. The active fit is nice too- no need to size up, unless you prefer a baggier fit or want to layer it over something pretty thick. All in all, good n' functional lightweight hoodie!

Great all-around hoodie

Perfect for going to the gym, cool weather and as a mid-layer with a shell. The material is a bit more durable than what you would find on an average hoodie, plus it seems to protect from the wind a bit more. It is a little tight, but I see this as a positive.

Decent light hoodie

I bought this because I love the Canyonlands non-hooded version and I see the options for the 2017 version aren't as nice in the overall cosmetic-design- color department as 2016. They look a little plain. So, I thought I'd snatch up one last 2016 combo, but with the hood. Overall it's a nice, thin, light hoodie, but the hood is a little floppy and sloppy and the cut is looser read more than the non hooded version. I LOVE this without the hood. I'm 6-ft, 205lbs and the XL in the non-hooded is perfect, but the sizing with the hood is more relaxed so I'd say if you are between sizes go down on the hooded version. XL is a Lille big for me in this one. It's great for me to wear on a cool hike, around town, or on a cool night outside or inside. Not super thick or warm, but just enough for a light chill. These hold no water and are light and comfortable overall. I'd say go with no hood though for a trimmer fit and just a little more mature look for casual use.

Decent Hoodie for the price

A lightweight hoodie perfect for cool shoulder season days, or as midlayer in winter. Only disappointment is that the TNF logo is printed on the fabric. As a bigger guy, I am always cautious of fit descriptions, so here is mine... I went with an XL and it is perfect over a shirt or long sleeved tee. Sleeve length, which I battle often, is perfect, maybe even a half inch long. read more Overall length is also a bit long. Jacket falls to about 4 or 5" below my waist band. I consider both of these to be perfect fit.

Hoodie Goodie

The Canyonlands is pretty solid. Fit is on point and it's good to use as a midlayer on warmer days or as an around-town hoody. For hiking I'm taking a puffy, though. Warmer, lighter, and more compressible. That being said I'm not at all disappointed with this. I knew what the band sounded like before I bought a ticket :D

Great fit

I am not really a fan of North Face but this piece has turned into my go to hoodie. Fits great and looks great. The elastic by the cuff are a really nice touch. It is not a thick hoodie but warm enough.

perfect fit

I am not the thickest person ever and i like my clothes to fit tight so this jacket is amazing and fits how all jackets should fit on people.

Very Comfortable, if a Little Tight

I actually did not notice the words "active fit" when I ordered this hoodie, and I own a very similar one from The North Face, so for a moment I was confused. But as designed, it does fit very nicely under a shell or jacket. I enjoy wearing it and the quality is quite good.

Runs a little tight

This is a great jacket, but it's not quite what I had in mind. I wanted a jacket that was loose fitting, something to wear as a softshell over a midweight layer. Unfortunately I've found the fit to be more formfitting and anything but the lightest weight base layer lends it's self to Chris Farely's fat guy in a little coat routine. Perhaps it's my fault for assuming the pictures read more looked like more of a relaxed fit, but usually smalls in TNF offer a little more room. Otherwise it's a solid fleece: The material is soft and lightweight, the color is really vivid and stands out (in a good way), and it has features like a hood and fleece lined pockets that are seen in jackets of a higher price point. Good effort minus the fit. Either that or I need to stop drinking beer...
