Tough and Swallows a Lot

I just returned from a week-long business conference. When I realized I was going to have to carry home about 50% more "Stuff" than I went with, I called Backcountry and ordered one of these in Large. I stuffed it with my BD Creek… read more 35 bag holding my climbing gear, plus 2 laptops, plus a raincoat and Thermoball jacket plus all sorts of catalogs, notepads, you name it. I even used the mesh bag it came in for my socks-and-undergarments-headed-for-the-laundry, if you know what I mean. Packed, it weighted north of 50 pounds. It easily handled the load and being abused by airport baggage handlers. I actually saw them toss it, upside down, onto the conveyor belt up into the plane belly. I've had numerous Black Hole duffels, but keep coming back to the North Face Base Camp duffels. They can take a beating; that's for sure!

Water resistant is misleading

Great duffle. Not very water resistant....

HUGE & RUGGED

My husband and I both have these bags (He has this one (95L) and I have the 50L) This bag (95L) --He is a geologist and has to pack several weeks worth of clothes into this bag along with boots and other equipment. This size may be over kill for a weekend adventure unless both-you and your spouse-pack in one bag. Base Camp Duffel

The Base Camp is a great all-around duffel with a sturdy construction and simple design. The multitude of handles makes throwing this bag in a variety of locations easy (I brought it with me for a mult-day mountain biking trip!). As far as water resistance the material… read more and side zippers are great and the flap over the main zippers are good for a light rain but they could have put a more waterproof zipper and flap to be more trustworthy. Overall a great, durable duffel for traveling and car camping but I wouldn't leave it outside the tent during a rainstorm.

Hold Stuff

I believe this is the best outdoor duffel on the market! It has a pocket, is durable, weather resistant, and is fairly comfy as a backpack. You can toss it around and feel comfortable that you are not ruining anything. I have 2 different sizes for different uses.

Awesome Bag

Very durable bag. Big enough for any camping trip or weekend getaway. Love it so far. The only complaint I have is that while it does have the backpack straps when needed, it doesn't have just a regular shoulder strap which is its only downfall, in my opinion.

Great bag

This duffel is on the roof of my buddy’s car right now. And we’re driving across the desert toward snowy mountains. Am I concerned for my down sleeping bag, underwear, or toothbrush inside? Nope. I’ve done this a number of times through muddy, rainy, dusty environments and this bag handles it all.

I use this bag to trough all my gear for weekend adventures and for travel. shoulder straps are great for throwing it on your back and taking off. the bag is tough and durable. ive beaten up pretty good and it still looks new

Bomber.

These duffels are the best duffels every made. I personally use mine for everything from moving gear to a friends house to get ready for an adventure to traveling on boats and planes with them regularly.

Durable...great for traveling

I bought this for my teenage daughter that has gone through many suitcases, bags and backpacks. This is holding up great. She is hard on everything and it is staying strong, wiping clean and holding up as promised. I may have to buy one for my son ;)

Bombproof

This must be our 6 or 7th TNF duffel. This size is great for an overnighter somewhere or on a flight.

If you need your gear to survive a nuclear apocalypse, this is the duffel for you! The fabric on this bag is incredibly durable, and might even stop a bullet (do not test this please). Besides that, this is a pretty drill-free bag; there are some small pockets on the lid, but that’s its for organization. I still prefer the Patagonia Black Holes, primarily because they’re really nice looking bags, but this is definitely a close second.

killer travel bag!!

keeps my items for travel out of the elements while in transit also gets me on the plane with a large carry on with the duffel straps for back pack conversion.

Is the misty rose color the medium size or large size according to north face sizing?
