TFO Esox Fly Rod - 4-Piece reviews and deals for sale
Targeting big predatory fish like pike, musky, and barracuda means you'll be spending the majority of your time casting heavy, wind-resistant flies with almost no action on the other end, but when you do get a take, you want to be sure that your rod is going to have the backbone to wrangle those big carnivores. The Temple Fork Outfitters Esox Fly Rod is the right tool for the job. It will make throwing heavy flies with heavy lines easy on your casting arm, but will also give you the confidence to play the fish without making you feel like you're going to snap the rod in two.
As is the case with a lot of Temple Fork Outfitters' rods, the Esox was designed with heavy input from Blane Chocklett, an expert at hauling in big meat eaters. The rod has a fast-action feel for high line speeds and better performance when casting big and brushy flies, and it's treated with TFO's TiCr coating for extra protection against inadvertent collisions with heavy flies and boat oars. A Full Wells cork grip offers a solid feel when casting and is fitted with a new extended fighting butt that helps with heavy line pickups and allows the rod to make quick figure eights to draw a strike when a fish is trailing your fly up to the nose of the boat. As a finishing touch, the aluminum up-locking reel seat has machined aluminum hook keepers to keep those big, meaty flies you'll be fishing safely secured to the rod when you're on the move.

Working at backcountry you find yourself talking with some pretty cool people. Josh leads a big group on a canoe and kayaking trips to the Florida Keys every Spring . "The group ranges between 12-30 guys every year and this year we had 15 guys. We camp out all week and fish hard and have some crazy results." The guys that fly fish out of the group use TFO rods. These rods have served… read more them well while battling massive tarpon and other fish. Tim who is pictured caught all his tarpon on a TFO esox model 10wt. These guys really enjoyed the rod and based off experience they would highly recommend it. Tim also caught a bunch of 4-7 foot tarpon with it.
