Specialized S-Works 7 Cycling Shoe reviews and deals for sale

The S-Works 7 series includes the most advanced cycling gear from Specialized, and the Men's S-Works 7 Cycling Shoe strives for perfect road performance without compromising comfort. Made of ply-by-ply carbon originally developed for racing, Powerline is the stiffest, lightest sole from Specialized, and it's fine-tuned for transferring all the power you push down on those pedals with. The upper is made out of Dyneema Mesh trapped between layers of four-way stretch and TPU for malleability in key areas and a formed fit. To provide better connectivity and overall comfort, there's extra room in the toebox, while the PadLock heel counter locks your foot in place for a slip-proof feel.

To align your hip, knee, and foot for a boost in power, Specialized employs scientifically tested Body Geometry. The footbed reduces hot spots by putting less pressure on nerves and arteries. A wedge underneath the footbed offers greater arch support, too. And for a little fashion with your function, Specialized added its custom S3 Boa dials; their CNC'd alloy dials add panache, precise micro-adjustments, and long-lasting durability. The titanium alloy cleat nuts rotate to position pedals and cleats with 5mm rearward.

The Benchmark

If you want to spend $400+ on a pair of cycling shoes, you're spoiled for choice. Sidi, Shimano, Lake, Bont, Fizik, Bontrager, Giro, and countless others all make great shoes. Zeroing in on the right pair is tricky, and even though it's a good problem, it's still a problem. I do my best to review shoes on their objective merits. I can't guarantee that the S-Works, or any other read more shoe will play nicely with your feet. That being said, personal comfort aside, I think that these are the shoe to beat. I'd argue that based on 4 points. 1. These are as-stiff or stiffer than any shoe I've ever ridden (RC9, Shot, Empire, 402). 2. The Specialized-specific boas are hands-down better than anything else I've ever used. 3. The dyneema upper is killer. 4. The footbed can be adapted to fit your foot perfectly. I should specify that while I think these beat out Shimano's old S-Phyre (my historical favorite,) I haven't had a chance to ride the new 902s. That said, I can't imagine them being better than the S-Works. I really do believe that these are the shoes to beat today.

Slight discomfort at first, great now

I've put about 2k miles on these shoes, and I love them. When I first tried them on, I had some pain on the top of my foot with the top closure, but once I figured out the right adjustments, they broke in nicely, and the power transfer is amazing. I will probably buy another pair in a different color.

Top of foot pain

Initially I had isolated foot pain on the top of the shoe. I think its where the boa attaches to the top of the shoe, the material is very inflexible and digs in. A year in and its getting better but wish I had gone with Shimano's, I like the design of the overlapping closure on the top. Other than that they are great shoes.

Really great shoe

I've got about a dozen rides with the new shoes and I love them. They are really light and comfortable on my feet. A big step up from my old shoes. I felt like I was floating on the first ride.

S Works 7 Cycling Shoe

I've worn this shoe for just over a week and wore them yesterday while riding a 104 mile ride in a downpour. NO ISSUES what so ever! I wear a 13 1/2 or a 48 and the shoe fits perfectly. I replaced an older pair of S Works shoes and these are also OUTSTANDING! Keep up the great work SPECIALIZED!

Perfect for me.

These shoes are pretty fantastic. Like all shoes, they might fit some people better than others. The material that they use is super easy to clean off so even after a full season of riding they look pretty good. I ended up getting S-Works Recons as well after riding these because I liked how well they fit. For reference, I wear a 43 in shimano, 42 in giro and got a 42 in these. read more

not a good fit at all

lot of hype behind these shoes you get what you pay for right? NOPE! very narrow toe box and my toes went numb. Boas in my opinion are placed in the wrong areas or its just the overall design of the shoe that makes this a horrible fit in general. Like i said boas apply pressure in sensitve areas due to the design of the shoe.. What is the point of making a top of the line 500.00 read more plus shoe where first you cant put performance down and two no comfort at all. You can get some mid range shoes for half as less that will more competitive than this.
