Smith Squad XL ChromaPop Goggles reviews and deals for sale

The first powder day after a long dry spell can turn violent pretty quickly. Pull your Smith Squad XL ChromaPop Goggles down over your eyes and head into the madness with your fellow powder-starved comrades—or enemies. Boasting the largest cylindrical lens in Smith's fleet, the Squad XL delivers an expanded field of vision, so you'll spot those sneaky freeriders trying to snake your line in your peripherals.

Smith's signature ChromaPop lens enhances color and detail, even if you spend most of your day in the white room. Will fit someone with a big nose!

I previously bought the smith Squad goggles years ago when they came out and they performed well. The one thing I hated about them was that they didn't fit my big nose and I always got an uncomfortable abrasion on the bridge of my nose after a long day of riding. Now these XL goggles are bigger in all the right ways and easily fit the bridge of my nose! I couldn't find any reviews read more online about how these goggles fit noses so leaving this here. Cheers

Almost perfect...

These goggles are stylish and comfortable. I love the wide lens, and they do a great job controlling fog. Also, I love the subtle reflective style on the low-light lens. The only draw back for me is that the band doesn’t clip in the back, a feature that I’ve loved about other Smith gogs I’ve had in the past. Wish it had that clip!! But other than that, great pair of you’re read more looking for steeze.

Same I/O goggle, but GIANT

These would have been my 3rd pair of I/O goggles, but I returned them because they are just huge. I know some people like that style, but I have pretty big head and these covered 1/2 my face. They have a very jet- fighter pilot look to them when worn with a helmet. I think the fit should be described as just Large instead of Medium/Large Otherwise, these are the same-old I/O goggle read more that get the job done right without a ton of money or gimmicks.

Awesome googles!

Tried these over the wknd with the low light lens and it worked great in bad snow condition - my Oakley's that were more expensive has not perform as good as these!

Go Big or GO Home

I love the big frame style goggles. They provide a much larger field of view, and helps with any claustrophobic feeling I have with smaller goggles that feel like tunnel vision. Overall the straps, plastic, lenses, and face foam are comparable to other brands on the market at this price point, and they are very comfortable. I used the black lenses for skiing on sunny days and they read more work great. For really stormy or low light days i prefer other brands and frame styles but that is more of a personal style choice and is not related to the functionality or the quality of these goggles that i've come to expert from Smith. Overall if you like the look of the goggle and you want a really wide filed of view these are a great option.

Love those Smitty Smiths

Im usually riding the IO/X goggles and absolutely love those, but these Squad XLs performed just as Im used to with the IO/X. I prefer the larger goggles to keep my field of vision nice and wide, and these definitely did a great job and showing me the whole mountain. I love how they dont fog up even while Im sweating my face off on a toasty spring day.

110% Vision. With a Smaller Price

Smith has been my staple for a minute now. The I/O was one of the only goggles to not pinch my nose incorrectly so it never restricted my breathing and gave me a good perk in switching lenses. The Squad XL opens up the field of vision much more while keeping that same frame shape. The lens is more than a bit harder to switch but for a guy like me who doesn't mind banging my read more head against the proverbial wall to do things like this I just shrug it off. And the look. I've gotten 50/50 feedback when it comes to aesthetics but I really like the way these look when paired with the right helmet. It screams pro look at times and that can give a silent type of confidence. Finally, the lens setup might be the tightest Smith has ever released. Blackout, Red, Yellow, done. Definitely worth a try on.

Great Vision

I had the chance to use these goggles for a few rides this past winter and i immediately noticed the amazing range of vision these goggles give. I thought my goggles were wide until i put these on! Loved the field of vision, had no issues with fogging on a day full of mini hikes outside of the resort and they were very comfortable to wear! Love Smiths!

Support your favorite pros

Been wearing the Louif Paradis model goggle and absolutely love the rose lens for gray storm days. Haven't had any issues with fogging and am pleased with the definition in snow pack the goggle supplies when needed most. Wide peripheral and, as all smith goggles, fit great with the right helmet.

Take in the view!

Throw on these goggles to enjoy a wide view of that gnarly run you're about to drop in on! The Squad XL Chromapop not only give a great field of view but also amazing clarity will ripping through trees. The storm lense is great for deep days on the hill and the blackout lens provides protection for your eyes for those beach days. Goggle Fog is a Thing of the Past!

I had been using Vonzippers for 4 years prior to buying these and constantly had goggle fogging issues. There have been numerous times I was ready to throw my Vonzippers off the side of a mountain because of how much they would put a hindrance on epic storm days and even bluebird pow days. After multiple days wearing these Squad XLs, I can confidently say they do an excellent read more job repelling fog! The only problem I had with them is that they gave me some slight discomfort on the sides of my face, but this seemed to go away while riding. The added bonus lens gives you everything you need to ride on the sunniest of days as well as complete whiteout. Great option if you are looking for something that won't completely break the bank.

My go to goggles

The squads are the way to go. They function just as good as the IO series and there for half the price. I have used these on the foggiest of days and they have kept up great. They have no fogged up on me at all and I am super pleased with how these have performed.

Great Field of View

I loved this goggle. I have a wider face, and these fit perfectly. I prefer a goggle with a larger field of view, and I felt like I could see everything out of these. The peripheral vision was second to none. Was also super impressed with the low light lens. Used this goggle on a really stormy "white-out" day recently, and I was surprised with just how much I was able to see. Also read more fit perfectly with my Smith Holt helmet with no gaps. Definitely recommend this goggle.

Solid, Dude!

I took these on a work ski trip to Solitude and I gotta say, they're hella solid, dude...but to get out in front of it, when this ski daddy hunts down that sicky gnar pow lickety split, he doesn't wear a helmet and these goggles fit just fine. These days goggles are made to accommodate helmets and they fit funky when you don't wear them, but the XLs are the truth. So if you like read more to split deep steep in the trees for that double plank hoobastank face plant full of white snow danky dank, helmet free, these may be the goggles for you. Also, Chromapop rocks.

Chromapop isn't just hype!

These are great goggles - so much so that I forgot I was even wearing them half the time. Two qualities are most important to me in a goggle: Quality of visibility, and adjustability, and these excelled in both. The lens was super clear - rose colored at first glance, but your eyes quickly adjust. Their ChromaPop technology is supposed to work with your eye's ability to distinguish read more color and make everything look better - and usually I dismiss these claims as just marketing, but it seems to have done the trick with these because everything looked distinctly clearer and brighter at my home resort! Smith has been in the lens business for a while, so it makes sense that they know what they are doing! And adjusting them was fairly easy with a solid quality headband, and easy lens pop out. Sidenote, for folks with glasses, these are large enough to comfortably fit those as well! These come with a spare low light lens, which I didn't even feel I needed even in lower light conditions because the main lens was so good. Great goggles - and great price to quality ratio!

Great Goggle

The Squad XL is a great goggle. I love the Chromapop lense. The low light lens works great for storm days and night riding. They weren't;t as large as I was expecting but they are pretty big and don't limit your peripheral vision.

Careful or Maybe Not

Smith is a fantastic brand and has some great products. I had picked these goggles up with a rad design on the strap and getting the replacement lenses, I was sold. Opening them up I knew these were a solid pair, I was ready to ride! After adjusting the straps to fit over my Smith Mission MIPS helmet (which is a great helmet), the adjustment slider had snapped. I attached a photo, read more it was the 'bar' that held the adjustment clip. Maybe I had stretched it a tad too much but after I had sized to fit over my helmet, without much stress, the second adjustment slider had fractured. I don't want to say these are bad goggles because they are not, but be careful not to force anything on the goggle. Backcountry was super helpful and had it all taken care of!

Terrific

Awesome google, comfortable, huge field of vision, great optics, looks cool w my smith helmet. I like the Anon's for ease of swapping out lenses, but otherwise prefer these Smith's. I actually bought both as I live in Utah and always good to have a backup pair, and got each w an awesome backcountry discount.
