Smith Code MIPS Helmet reviews and deals for sale

Featuring a low-profile in-mold design, the Code doesn't skimp on durability while creating a lightweight product. The polycarbonate shell and EPS liner bring a high level of protection, with an incorporated Koroyd material that aids in impact absorption as well as airflow. The MIPS System uses a slip-plane technology, reducing rotational force common in angular impacts. Smith equipped the Code with Airflow Climate Control vents and AirEvac 2 Ventilation to regulate airflow and keep you from overheating. The BOA 360 Fit System lets you easily adjust the fit in case you want to throw a beanie underneath the helmet during frigid storm days, and the Fidlock chin strap system makes it easy to get your helmet on and off without taking off your gloves.

Small

My 21.25” head doesn’t fit a small which is supposed to fit up to 22”. Have to return it and pay for shipping.

Dial in the fit

I wanted to wear this w beanie etc. and people have recommended sizing down. That didn’t work for me, actually held true to size in medium (I measure square in the middle of that) and it fits spot on. The small rode too high on my head. The size up from large from medium seems like a huge jump though... so not sure what that’s about (I have tried on every size). Lightweight, read more low profile, nice looking helmet w/ good tech.

Great helmet

I really love this helmet - I just tried it out for the first time last week. Fits great, no rubbing on the chin. Easy to use my goggles with it and it keeps my head warm.

The new favorite from Smith

After skiing with the Maze helmet for several years, I was excited to see when Smith had dropped their new lightweight, low profile helmet. Sporting all of their latest technologies but keeping all of the features I know and love, this has become my new favorite. While the fit may not be ideal for all, (fits best with medium sized oval shaped heads), but if the fit is your jam, read more you'll love it. Pair it with some Smith I/O Mags and you'll be the best skier/ boarder on the mountain...or at least look it.

Protector of Noggins

Great helmet with extra confidence on the mountain brought to you by MIPS. The Code is super sleek and simple, which is a nice switchup from the extreme venting and aggressive brims that have defined their lineup for a few years now. This helmet does seem to fit a bit different that others in Smith's lineup, but adjusted well to my head with the rear BOA system. Only downside to read more the helmet is that the velcro pads connecting the liner to the helmet are substantial, and when combined with the MIPS liner, can grab hair if you're one to ski helmets sans liner (or with goggles underneath the helmet).

Very odd fit for Smith

I love smith products. I own the forefront bike helmet, a the vantage, and a few pairs of goggles and sunglasses, but this just doesn’t hit the mark. The MIPS system has pronounced round tabs/knobs in the temples that dig into my head, unlike any other mips helmet Ive owned. It’s also just a weird shape.... I wanted a helmet without a brim but the code is not a flattering read more cut. Lastly, the liner/ear-covering sits really low on the back of my neck so that my pony tail shoved the helmet forward. I normally love smith products, but the code just didn’t cut it.

Great helmet... for a dude

I love how low-profile this helmet is, definitely has that skate-helmet look to it. I think the most comparable women's version would be the Smith Allure. Some helmets work perfectly fine as unisex helmets, but this one is definitely not made for chicks with small heads, HA, but I still wear it anyways. It's a good helmet to take the earpads out and wear a beanie under.. I just read more wish there was a helmet this cool made for all the lady shredders out there!!!

The best.

Although my old Smith maze helmet was still in good shape, I realized the foam was probably not as protective as it once was. And I wanted to get a helmet that has MIPS. My maze helmet was a L so I went with a L for the Code as well and it fit perfectly (for you bikers out there, I also have the Smith Rover in a size Large and the fit is the same. The boa tightening system read more on the back is awesome, so much easier than fiddling with the other kinds of adjustment systems. Paired with smith goggles, you’ll never have to worry about that dreaded gap. Honestly, when I bought this helmet I didn’t realize it had the “fidlock chinstrap” (apparently what they call it) and I couldn’t be happier with it. It is so easy to take on and off with one hand, yet still feels very secure. I have not taken any hard hits with this helmet yet (thankfully), but I know it will be there to save my noggin if I do!

What more could you want?

Cracked my old Giro helmet that I had used for too many seasons to count and decided it was time for an upgrade. First impression is this helmet is very comfortable. The extra large is perfect for someone with a huge head like me and seems to run larger than the POC or GIro XL size. The BOA adjustment is very precise and helps get the perfect fit. My Smith Squad XL googles mesh read more perfectly with no gaps. I am very impressed with the safety features of this helmet. The Aerocore combined with the MIPS technology is miles ahead of basic EPS helmets. I have tomahawked and yardsaled my fair share of times and this helmet has stayed secure on my head with no noticeable damage. The last feature I wanted to mention is the magnetic clasp. Coming from a basic buckle that requires both hands i was not used to the design. However after getting used to it I am now able to attach and remove the clasp with one hand which is very convenient and I don't think i can go back to a standard plastic buckle. My only complaint with this helmet is the foam ear padding. I was not able to hear very well and the ear padding was a bit too warm for Spring skiing. However this was easily remedied by removing the foam pieces inside where headphones would be installed. Overall this helmet is fantastic and has every feature you could want in a helmet.

Not for me...

I wanted to like this helmet.... I really did. But it wasn’t for me. I like to use the OT Chips while I ride and they fit poorly into this helmet. They can wander around the liner and fall out easily. To say this helmet has “Audio Capability” is putting it very loosely. Fit wise it is very comfortable and adjusts nicely. It looks like a nice old school skate lid. read more I do think it pairs better with Smith goggles than other brands also. Both my Anons and my current favorites the Oakley Fall-Line didn’t workout with it either. Felt like they were too far toward on the bridge of my nose. Comfort wise with no audio this helmet would be five stars, especially if your already rocking smith goggles. But if you like to use audio with your helmet look elsewhere this isn’t what you’re looking for.

Great Helmet

Needed a new helmet since my old Bern one was 5+ years old. Wanted one with MIPS tech. It fits well, the magnet clasp is easy to use, and I am able to fit a beanie underneath it. I did fall earlier this year and the goggle piece on the back came off. I didn't use it anyway. Great choice for a new helmet.

So good that my son took it...

Actually I gave it to him. He's getting into skiing and I only wore it once since it was new, and he leaves on a ski trip tomorrow and needed a new helmet. I found the XL to fit my big noggin perfectly (he's 19 with same head size & shape). The liner feels great and kept me very warm. It's also a very light weight helmet. I came from a more vented helmet (Smith Variance) that read more I took a spill in and separated the shell from the foam, so decided to try something different. Even with less venting and no venting adjustment, I found the Code to modulate my temp quite well and I never fogged with it on. I don't have Smith goggles currently, but found the match to be pretty good. Love the magnetic clasp, too. New one is on order for me. :) Edit ... I will say that I think that the Code fits slightly small. The XL fits me well, but is snug. I skied again today and found that my ears were slightly uncomfortable later in the day. I can wear L in other brands. Also I grabbed some I/O7 goggles and the match is now perfect. New photo for reference.

Great helmet!

I had been wearing the Maze for quite a few years and decided it was time to try something new. I couldn't be happier with this helmet. The fit is great, it offers more coverage than the Maze, and looks awesome too. Highly recommended.

Superior Protection

This helmet fits great with the Smith I/O 7 goggles. The boa fit adjuster makes a perfect dialed in fit which is so nice and easy. MIPS technology is the best on the market, making you feel safe and secure.

I have a hard time finding helmets that fit and I finally found it. Low profile is great and MIPS tech is the best out there.

Great

Simply an awesome, high-quality helmet. Low profile and light with all the tech you need. Interesting magnetic buckling system that took a few tries to get used to, but now I love it. No more pinching or taking off gloves to buckle the helmet.

Favorite

I have always tried to find a helmet that works, fits and was low profile. I have gone through a number of helmets but always had to sacrifice something. This is the 1st helmet I have ever bought that I didn't have to fiddle with at all. No removing liners to get a more comfortable fit with beanie, no removing or changing ear flaps. Great fit for me with Balaclava, and goggles read more are seamless (giro Block). It even fits under my hood! I have zero complaints.

Upgrade

This helmet is an excellent low profile alternative to some of the techier Smith helmets, but has some features the maze doesn't have. The Boa adjustment ensure a great fit and the integrated beanie is super comfortable. The liner does eliminate the option to wear a hat under your helmet, if that's your thing.
