Smith Attack MAG Max ChromaPop Sunglasses - Men's reviews and deals for sale

Smith designed its Attack Max ChromaPop Sunglasses for cyclists that aren't always the most willing to hang back in the pack. Their aerodynamic profile and streamlined designed are better suited to leading the peloton than drafting towards the back. Aerodynamics aside, the Attack Max Sunglasses also offer cyclists a crisp field of vision thanks to ChromaPop technology. Smith's flagship lenses reduce color confusion while filtering harmful UV rays for a crisper field of view and better color contrasts. The actual shape of the lenses increase the coverage area for added protection from wind, light, and debris, and the frameless front is designed to integrate with Smith cycling helmets for a gap-free fit and enhanced ventilation. These sunglasses are equipped with Smith's quick-release MAG interchangeable system and come with an extra pair of ChromaPop lenses to accommodate different light conditions.

Bike Hard - Be Comfortable

I've been biking for a long time competitive and recreational, and wearing many pairs of Smith optics. After reading some other reviews on the Smith Attack Max, I questioned if this was the eye protection I wanted, and then I said, I won't know unless I try them. So, I bought a pair, and am very glad I did. The Smith Attack Max fit my face way better than the Pivlock90. The read more large lenses provides more eye protection and I never have to touch them while riding. I was always pushing others back up my nose for a tighter fit. Not, the Smith Attack Max, the two place adjustment to the nose clip pretty much eliminates any issues with slipping. The temples are easy to attach and remove making lens change a "snap". They are are great for biking. Get a pair - you'll be glad you did!

Comfortable sunglasses with a big flaw

Two weeks back to back the plastic piece that fixes the clip in place on the temple on the lens broke on 2 lenses. Just a flaw in the design. It’s a real shame since they are great sunglasses and really comfortable but I don’t want to keep paying for warranty returns for the lenses. Sadly can’t recommend

Lense is good, frame design flawed

The lenses of the glasses are great, they add color and provide great sun coverage. As a road cyclist that trains in Florida, sweat has corroded the magnet frame locks making them impossible to remove. I rinse with freshwater after every ride, but the corrosion still occurs rapidly. While the magnet system seems sleek on the surface, do yourself a favor and stick with traditional read more Pivlocks or another brand. The glasses are also extremely fragile, if dropped once from about shoulder height, the frame mounting parts that are attached to lenses can easily snap off. Photos below show magnet corrosion. There also is noticeable residue from the gorilla glue I have used to reattach the plastic pieces back to the lenses.

Speedy

I first used these on a road bike ride in Salt Lake City and they were so nice. I was at least 5% faster. Love the easy lens change for riding in overcast conditions. The Chromopop feature makes everything look crisper.

Love them - Great for Road Cycling

I have been working on riding more in the drops but my Oakley cycling glasses had a frame at the top that obscured some of my vision. I was looking for frameless sunglasses that would fit my large head (definitely an obstacle with some sun glasses). Bought these because they were on sale, tried them and loved them. They were perfect. I then bought a second pair (less expensive read more that buying lenses). I keep one pair with dark lenses and the other with light lenses. I found that was more convenient that switching the lenses and storing them disassembled in the case. Although they are supposed to be for medium faces, they fit my larger nut well. I am very happy with them.

They Look Fast and All Business

I love these when I am on the trail running. As I got used to the different lenses, both rock in the situations they were made for, Platinum lense for the sunny days, and the Rose lense for cloudy or flat light days, also sweet dawn/early evenings. These glasses are classified “medium fit/large coverage.” They have a significant wrap to them which ensures a large visual field read more that remains unobstructed by the lack of frames. Solid purchase and I'm happy I did.

fancy

These are great for mountain biking. They don't slide around when I am super sweaty, and they don't restrict visibly at all. The lenses are super easy to change out, and they seem to be of high quality.

Overall Good So Far

I am worried about the lens breaking issue others have had, but Smith has an amazing warranty so I feel rest assured. Overall great so far, nothing to complain about at the moment.

Not durable

Same problem as the others have mentioned. On my 2nd ride with them, I went to just wipe the lens while out riding and the lens snapped at the hinge. I was hardly applying any pressure there. Smith is warrantying them, but instill had to spend $10 to ship it to them. Everything about the sunglasses is great: ease of changing lens, Chromapop, fit. However, durability is not read more there, don't buy them!

Mine Broke Too!

I read several reviews from others saying the lenses broke at the point the attach to the frame. I figured those people were doing something incorrectly or being to forceful. Well, mine broke too, after only wearing them on 2 rides. The design has a defect. I suggest not buying these.

Sweet Shades

These glasses look great. They fit a bit smaller than expected for my face ( more oval). I could see the light coming through on the bottom of the lens. I didn't have any problem with fogging or slippage, they are very light weight and the interchangeability is amazing

PLEASE READ!!!

These were purchased as a gift for me, and I really like these glasses except they've broke multiple times. The frame where the temples/arms attach to lens breaks off extremely easily. I've had 3 out of 4 break between the two lenses that come with it. This is without any abuse or dropping the glasses. Smith sent me a new pair under warranty, and they broke again within a month read more of owning. The other issue I've experienced is with the temples/arms. There's a small magnet on the release which corroded (from sweat) after a couple months, which got to the point where I was unable to swap lenses. I also know somebody that has the same pair, and they've had the same issues. I ended up using an epoxy to reattach the pieces, but that only lasts for so long. It sucks because these are very comfortable, lenses are great, and the interchangeability is nice.

Perfect Riding Glasses

Coming from first gen pivlocks, I was hesitant because I loved them so much. Pull the trigger without abandon. The chromapop lenses are incredible. I set out at sunrise with the reflective, darker lens thinking it would be too dark, but it was perfect. It’s crazy how they adjust, and man the colors definitely pop. The lighter rose lens should be perfect for the woods. Swapping read more lenses is stupid easy. Couldn’t believe it was possible to be easier than the originals. Only thing to be aware of if you are coming from original pivlocks, these are a little heavier so you may not forget that you are wearing them, but don’t let that stop you from upgrading!

Look Fast- Ride Fast

If you want to be faster, one way is to look faster and these sunnies are perfect for that. I really like the new arms that clip on and off, my one concern was they fell off my helmet and one arm popped off and I was glad I wasnt actively riding. They also fogged up a lot on my rides, I am still not sure if it is the sunglasses to helmet combination, or the humidity and sweating, read more But otherwise I look fast and feel fast with the black and white stripped glasses.

Good Got Better

I've been a pivlock fan for years, the big lenses on the Max versions and the frameless design make them the best riding glasses I have found for maximum eye protection and minimum interference. The old pivlocks were already stupid easy to swap lenses, but with these they went and made it easier. Wasn't really necessary in my opinion, but I'm a moron and lost my pivlocks last summer read more so I was happy to take the upgrade.

Great optics, and very comfortable

I got the white frame / red chromapop lenses. Superbly comfortable and excellent optics, they perform well and you do not notice you are wearing them, which is the highest compliment I can give any piece of cycling kit. The frameless design means nothing to obstruct your view of the ground in front of you or to get in your way when you're on the drops and looking through the tops read more of the glasses. I have a high forehead and large face so they don't come anywhere near my helmet. YMMV I can't say that I love the look of them off the bike, but that's hardly relevant; I don't wear bib shorts off the bike either. For their intended purpose they are outstanding. The included low-light lenses are a nice touch as well.

Seriously so good

I've been wearing these now for about half a season and love them. The full coverage and visibility is better than any glasses I've tried. And the ability to swap lenses in less than 30 seconds (I timed myself) is worth every penny. The only downside I have noticed: I have gotten them to fog when I am working super hard on a cold morning (think snow). They were quick to unfog themselves read more though.
