So good

Bought 1, such a good layer I bought 2 more. They look nice, feel like solid quality, and are a warm & breathable layer. Med fits nicely (tall lanky guy)

Color nothing like photo

The Tibetan red is nothing like photo. In real life it is a very ugly burgundy. This is the second time backcountry photos are off on anything “red”. The shirt itself is great, color aside, but had to dock a couple stars because of false representation on the photos. I know web colors are off but this color is nothing like the photo and truly hideous.

Absolutely the Best

I won't repeat what I said in my companion review of the Smartwool bottoms I bought in the same order except to say this is yet another top-notch product. This top does not fit like a second skin, which is how my other Smartwool top fits, but that makes it somewhat more versatile. It definitely fits like it was made for me, but it's not tight and doesn't look like a sausage casing. read more It's extremely pleasurable to wear. I didn't want to take it off - so I wore it for three days. Inside. Which means it breathes nicely while keeping you warm. The colors are rich and classy. It may just look like a t-shirt on the website, but when you see it and feel it for real, you'll go, "wow," and you'll say it with reverence. I can't wait to take it for a spin next season!

Great Fit

Haven't field tested it yet, but it's very comfortable around the house. Plan to pair it with the 250 bottom base layer for fishing, snowboarding and hiking. Will report back with results.

Loving it!

Bought it for some colder skiing days and loving it. Can't go wrong with Smartwool. Buying more lighter ones too now.

Great baselayer

This is my first Smartwool baselayer, which is particularly good, breathable, warm, and comfortable. It can also guarantee a certain amount of warmth when wet with sweat.

Great Shirt.

Amazing product. Warm and soft. Never seem to overheat. Long enough to tuck in. 5’9 200. Large is perfect.

Smarter Than Patagonia Capilene Air

Will test it in my next trip to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier this August. At first glance, Smartwool 250 feels smarter and sturdier than the Patagonia Capilene Air I have

Best Baselayer

Used on a trip to Boston. Temperatures mostly in the 60s and felt comfortable to wear by itself. I am 5’10” and 160 pounds and the medium felt just right. I liked the slight longer length that stayed tucked in. I hope to use it in colder temperatures on future trips. Also looking to get the 150 for comparison. Also used another brand that was 50% merino and 50% polyester but read more the wool felt much more comfortable.

Love it

I bought mine for a 3 week long trekking trip and they did not disappoint. Besides the fact that it's very comfortable It kept me dry and odorless.

Cozy

I thought base layers were supposed to be thin things that were awkward to wear just as a shirt. But the 250 is a dream come true. It is a base layer still (100% wool mind you) but its thick enough to wear as a calm shirt outside or around the house, especially while watching a movie. I love this Shirt.

Nice Product

Finally wore 2 of them out of commission a couple years ago. Some years of almost everyday use. Hot or cold. Snow. River. Tried off brand merino shirts for a while. OK. Not great. SmartWool quality seems about the same as before. Sizes are a bit off for a base layer.. 5'11" 195lbs Tried medium and large Med. Tight enough for base. Sleeves too short LG. Loose. Sleeves right length read more Very comfortable material none the less Not the right forum I presume. But through the exchange process with Backcountry.com. Some of the best customer service in modern times. You get a human on the phone. Really nice people. Quality product Excellent sevice Thank you Backcountry.

Great Base Layer

Very comfortable and a great base layer. I like this product because not only is it soft but keeps you warm and is not bulky. I have worn this snowboarding and it kept me warm. It is very durable and looks great after several washings. I would definitely recommend this product for someone who is looking for a crew base layer that can also be worn alone or as a layer.

Great Base Layer

I'm 6'2" 175lbs with an athletic build. I bought this and the matching bottoms in size Large. The top fits perfect. The bottoms are a little loose but the right length. They are very comfortable and warm. Great base layer for snowboarding, I highly recommend.

Fits very well + provides lots of warmth

I am 5'7" about 150 lbs and have 3 of these. They wear very comfortably - just the right fit so they aren't loose enough to notice or tight enough to compress against your skin. So I hardly feel them when I'm wearing them, but am a lot warmer, and can wear them under other clothes without any extra bulk being visible.

Warm thermal

Great fit. Very comfortable. Kept my husband warm while snowboarding. He wore it as a layering piece when it was 10 degrees and he stayed warm!

I have three of these now. Great shirt!

A long time ago I stumbled onto merino when I was stinking up synthetic shirts almost instantly. I got a deal on a merino shirt from a Smartwool competitor and liked it a lot. (I still have it and it's 15 years old.) But the prices on that brand skyrocketed and that led me to Smartwool. While not inexpensive, you do get what you pay for in this case. They're comfortable, read more long lasting, warm and they fit. I had a retirement job at REI and when there I bought my first two Smartwool shirts and a pair of long underwear bottoms and a ton of socks. The quality of all of it shines and, as I said, it's well worth the money. I live in the damp, chilly Pacific Northwest. I wear this shirt a lot and I wear Smartwool socks much of the year. Highly recommended!
