November 20, 2020The fit
I thought it may not fit but they were perfect for a female and I have worn wool for years and even as a summer wedding dress thank you for getting me fitted both top and bottom. I like the longer sleeves to keep me warm. It’s a way women are wearing their sleeves. We are experiencing Covid restrictions so hiking with the group isn’t possible but we hope we’ll hit the trail… read more soon.

May 29, 2020Great for skiing
This is a great weight for resort skiing. I was getting cold wearing the 150 weight with my shell, and this make a big difference. I’d call it too warm for backcountry/skinning and other more physical activities. The 150 is a good weight for me for those activities. The half zip is great in terms of versatility of fit for both weights.

February 19, 2019Perfect skiing baselayer
Sizing: 6’1 M 165 lbs - bought the L and the M and returned L without opening after trying on the M. Perfect tight fit which is what I wanted and the sleeves reach the wrists of my long, gangly arms. I got this because I’m always cold and wanted the warmest baselayer available. My philosophy when skiing is that I’d rather be hot/sweaty after a hard run in the trees than… read more be cold going up the lift. This baselayer keeps me very warm and is also decent at dumping heat after a hard run. I just unzip the top at the lift line and once I’m on the lift I feel comfortable again. I also noticed that it does a great job wicking moisture, which was my only concern when buying this. Can’t speak to the durability because I’ve only used it 4-5 times but it’s held up being machine washed and dried flat so I’m feeling like it will last a while with care.

January 29, 2019Versatile Baselayer
The Smartwool Merino 250 Baselayer 1/4-Zip is by far my most worn apparel item I own. It's the perfect baselayer for just about any cool / cold weather high output activity. The merino wool has a perfect feel, soft without being itchy or bothersome. Layers well with most mid / outer layers and doesn't absorb odors like synthetic fabrics.

January 22, 2019Excellent Buy
I used for the ski season in Vermont (1st week of 2019) with temperatures between 40/20 degrees and have absolutely nothing to complain about it . A T-Shirt , the Merino Baselayer and my Ski jacket kept me warm at all time . Im even using it on a daily base to go to work. Avoid the use of extra layers even in the lower temperatures as we saw in NY in the last couple of days (20/21… read more of January 2019) I would recommend it for anyone who has doubts if its a product you must buy for the winter season

January 17, 2019Good ice fishing base layer
Gave this as a gift to my father in law who goes ice fishing in Wisconsin a couple days a week. He loves it - fits well and is really warm.

December 7, 2018Perfect Baselayer
I bought this for my partner as he wore his last one out. He owned the original for 3 years and it saw heavy use. It has a great, stylish, slim fit for casual nights out yet still performs for all your outdoor adventures. The super soft merino wool ensures you will stay comfortable for years to come.

November 28, 2018Great Baselayer!
I purchased these as a gift for my brother. He said: "I use merino wool for all of my base layers, typically a 100, 150 and 250 with a shell or insulated jacket for almost all winter activities. This 250 layer works particularly well as an outer layer skate skiing or jogging throughout the winter. In the summer I'll wear this 250 layer as a single layer on cool nights or on casual… read more outings. Smartwool makes a great product and this one in particular gets more use than any of my other layers."

April 16, 2018Really warm baselayer
It is very warm. I like how slim the shirt is which fits me very nicely. This is my first wool baselayer and I feel slightly uncomfortable wearing. It doesn't itch but not fully smooth. I can still feel like I am wearing something different than cotton or polyester. Still, for how warm and how it stay fresh and doesn't stink I definitely recommend.

January 29, 2017Layer up!
This is one of my favorite baselayers to wear. It's moisture-wicking and does a great job at not stinking after a few uses (I try to get a few days out of my baselayers...don't judge me). Super soft and fits great as well. Can't beat it!

April 6, 2016Best baselayer ever?
For fit, I am 6'2" 170lbs, Long torso, arms. I wear Medium. Larges are just too long and don't give the "next to skin" feel. I love this shirt. I own 3 of them only because I use them nearly everyday from november to april. Stretchy, wicking, warm and breathable. When warn standalone it keeps me warm even when drenched. I prefer to layer over a light compression shirt to speed… read more up the wicking. 1\2 length zipper is great for venting. I really miss the thumb holes the old funnel top had! Now this is the most important feature I look for in a base layer: It doesn't stink even if you wear it for a week straight. I know some people like the "feel" or the "warm to weight" ratio. But as a semi pro ski bum, I don't need to smell bad after touring day in and day out without the ability to do laundry. Take that capilene!!

January 20, 2016no complaints
I use this shirt as a baselayer for snowboarding, as well as overnight backpacking trips. It does the job. It's held up well after nearly a year of use, no holes or signs of wear. I machine wash it like normal clothing, although when I first bought it I hung it up to dry. I am 5'11 and 150 lbs and bought the small, because I prefer my baselayers to be skin tight.

January 6, 2016Worth the $$
I use this as a base layer to snowboard in, and love it. I didn't think I would like the zip top, but it comes in handy when you get hot. The mid weight felt perfect. Not too thin, not too heavy.
