Simms Guide Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale

You'd better be prepared to pay your dues if you want to land a wild steelhead, so be ready to spend long days in the pissing rains with the Simms Men's Guide Jacket. Backed by a three-layer Gore-Tex Pro shell, the Guide provides waterproof, breathable, and durable protection to ensure long-lasting wear in a wide range of weather conditions. Its fully taped seams seal out water to prevent leakage, while the Guide's fully adjustable storm hood accommodates billed hats and cinches around your face to minimize water entrance when the wind attempts to drive you from the river. The storm hood includes a rear adjustment that, once secured, offers full visibility and functional ease of movement, so you don't miss a take while you fish in unsavory weather.

Features on the Guide include corrosion-resistant YKK zippers and sliders, watertight cuffs that will keep wrists dry as you release your catch, and an adjustable waist that helps seal in warmth and block out the elements. Meanwhile, two built-in retractors secure your nippers and hemostat. while the two streamlined front pockets house large fly boxes, so you can go ahead and leave your waist pack back at the rig.

Great!

It's very light weight and breathable, water proof and wind break. It's got good durability. I like the hand warming pocket.

A great jacket.

A very good jacket. Waterproof and comfortable. Only complaint is it needs D-rings for heavier tools. The integrated retractors do an adequate job holding nippers and forceps but any heavier tool than that makes the retractors sag. Would prefer a sturdy d-ring for a rod holder. The shingle cuffs are great, waterproof and don’t get in the way of your flyline when casting.

No frills wading jacket

I tried out both the Simms Guide and the Patagonia River Salt. I ended up going with the Guide, primarily due to the hood and the cuffs. My observations are below. -The Simms hood is spacious. No problem wearing a cap and the hood cinches down nicely. The Patagonia hood was way too small. I had trouble putting up the hood with a ball cap on. A bizarre decision by Patagonia to read more say the least, and the main reason why I didn't buy the River Salt. - The Simms shingle cuffs are the best in the industry. No catching your fly line on the velcro tabs. - The front pockets are just ok. They are big, functional and easy to reach, but the velcro requires two hands to open. I like the design of the zippered pockets on the River Salt better. -the integrated retractors are a nice touch. A couple of D-rings would be useful. - Fit is spot on. Plenty of room to layer underneath and nice freedom of movement. Overall, not a lot of bells and whistles, but this is a solid, functional wading jacket

Bomb Proof

This jacket has kept me dry in the nastiest of western spring storms. I have worn this in the rain, snow, and sleet and has kept me dry. Note, this jacket is not to be worn for warmth, it is simply to keep you dry from the rain. I strictly advise you layer under this jacket as it is very roomy inside. The chest pockets are massive and the hand warmer pockets on the side are perfectly read more placed. Zingers on each chest pocket also allows you to attach nippers or your hemo's for quick access. Wearing this on the outisde of your waders is probably the best since this is basically waders for your upper body. The bottom of the jacket is nice and tight keeping it snug and in place as well as the cuffs being completely adjustable. Since this jacket is also really more of wading jacket, the bottom of the jacket will run a little above the waist when tightened
