Sidi Shot Vent Carbon Cycling Shoe - Men's reviews and deals for sale

Sidi has long been the sheriff of the Cycling Corral, which makes it the primary target for every young gun looking to make a name for itself in the cycling shoe industry. With the Shot Vent Carbon Men's Cycling Shoes, the sheriff is firing back. The Shot combines Sidi's venerable last, sole, and material expertise with the new trend of center-mounted wire dials in a shoe fit for a champion. A Tour champion. Like, say, Froome, who wore the shoes in their debut season and out-shot the likes of El Pistolero to emerge as the last man standing in the annual showdown in France.

The Shot stands alone as the only shoe in Sidi's line to embrace the symmetrical closure system of central dials rather than dials offset on the outside of the foot. The effect pulls the upper from both sides, enveloping the foot in a cocoon of Microfibra Techpro rather than pulling the material over the top from the instep. The closure system also makes the Shot Sidi's cleanest shoe, both aesthetically and when it comes to aerodynamics. Fewer bulky protrusions make for a more minimalist silhouette than what we're used to from Sidi, and less protrusion also means fewer transitional ridges to catch the air and slow you down.

While the center-mounted dial is a common enough sight across the industry now, Sidi uses a proprietary buckle instead of the ubiquitous third-party model used by most shoe manufacturers. Normally, we'd be leery of brands trying to replace proven tech with something new just for the sake of another branding opportunity. But this is Sidi, and the brand is so commonly described as "venerable" for a reason. Sidi's Tecno-3 Push buckles aren't some fly-by-night knock-off; they're the original. The brand first produced them back in the '90s, and the fact that the industry has only now caught is proof of Sidi's innovative nous. The Tecno-3 Push represents generation 3.5 of the brand's wire buckle, with the half generation owing to the Push's inclusion of a red release button.

No shoe can shine with a shoddy sole or fit, though, and those are the two areas that have kept Sidi on top and promise to make the Shot into yet another classic. Sidi's last is legendary, and the Vent Carbon sole it's perched atop is just as much a staple of the cycling landscape as l'Alpe's 21 switchbacks. The sole is a stiff carbon platform that incorporates a closeable vent for cooling airflow or to keep out the autumn chill during late-season maintenance miles. As with most of Sidi's top-end offerings, the carbon is protected by low-profile toe and heel pads, but of which are replaceable to ensure that the shoes last for as many seasons as you want them to.

Cycling Shoe

This is a great shoe. First pair I ordered was a little small so I returned and ordered the next larger size. Very comfortable and performance focused.

Beautifully Made

I was leary as first to buy a Sidi shoe because everyone says they run small. Well I took a chance and with the Shot Vent I found they are spot on with my other shoes at size 45. While they are a bit more narrow they are quite comfortable. I like the dials on the tongue. They are easy to adjust while riding. I have really only one negative comment and that is the insoles provided. read more They are very thin and provide little or no cushion as compared to the Specialized inserts i have in all my other shoes. Also the Sidi inserts arent cut wide enough for the shoe itself so there are edges that start to cut into the bottom of my feet afer a long ride. I have been swapping them out for others to resolve the issue. But at this price point I expect Angelic perfection. insoles are cheap and should be easy to cut correctly. Aside from that it is a fantastic shoe.

Another Solid Sidi Shoe

I've been riding in Sidi's for years and really love them. A little heavier than other shoes maybe but a few grams here or there is no big deal for me. I must have tried 5 other manufacturers but haven't been able to get them to work properly for me. The fit, especially in the toe box, never got comfortable enough compared to Sidi. My foot is a little wider than standard but it read more works with this shoe. On the positive side- super quality and craftsmanship, fit is perfect, repairable, no velcro to wear out. On the less positive side- adjusting on the fly takes some practice, inserts from Sidi very thin and modest (I use aftermarket inserts cycling specific) expensive. I'm usually in for longer ride (50 to 100 miles) and there really work for me. Todd at CC really worked with me on this purchase. Always ok with accepting a return to find the right shoe he never gave up! Thanks Todd- Good work

Sidi Shot shoes

My first pair of clipless shoes (after 45 years of toe clips and straps with Detto Pietro shoes). First pair of shoes I ever bought that came with an instruction manual! The shoes fit like a glove - true to size - i wear a 44 in toe clip and clipless shoes. I was apprehensive about spending so much on shoes, but they are beautifully made.

Amazing Shoes

Like some others here, I've been wearing Sidis for many years. My previous pair went more than 13 years and they are still usable but the velcro is getting very weak. I tried on some of the other front-runners but nothing felt like these. I didn't want to spend so much on shoes (even though I got a good price) but when I consider how many miles I'll be putting on these, I start read more to feel better about my choice. As one person put it, "You don't buy Sidis, you invest in them." I'd say this is spot on. Not all feet are the same but for me, the Sidi last just works and these shoes feel like they were made for me. Compared to their other top-end shoes, I really appreciate how they placed the dials on the tongue and how easy that makes release and exit. I also appreciate that they are still making shoes like this in Italy. I like knowing that I'm supporting a company that has managed to keep some old-school craftsmanship from dying out. These shoes are beautifully put together, just as you would expect them to be. They may not be the lightest option out there but when fit and function come together as they do for me in these shoes, I could care less about the weight. I've only got a few hundred miles on them so far but I will put them through the wringer and if I spot any weakness, I will post an update.

True to Size, Easy On and Off

My boyfriend got these and loves them. He says they're easy to get on and off with the turn/push buckles. He put in his custom insoles and said the fit is perfect. True to size and extra comfortable with his own insoles.

So good!

I've been using Sidi shoes for over 15 years, from cycling to motorcycle boots! They're easily the best fitting shoe out there. The hug every part of your foot and feel super comfortable. I've been using 46.5 for years and went to a 46 this year. Whilst this felt slightly tight when wearing them in the living room, they became perfect when clipped in and spinning, with NO loss read more of power due to the shoe being snug. On super hot days though, you may want to consider your "normal" comfy fondo size!

Great shoes

"This is my first pair of Sidi shoes and I’m wondering why I didn’t switch sooner. For years I rode with a pair of Rapha Grand Tour shoes and while they were comfortable, I still got hotspots during long rides. The Boa system all but eliminates hot spots and numb feet and I feel like I’m directly connected to the bike. Also, the neon yellow color is awesome."

Awesome Shoes

I purchased these to replace a pair of SIDI wires. After a few rides, I actually feel these fit my foot better that the wires. It is a bulky shoe, but very comfortable. Sizing is consistent, 43.5 in both (I wear US 9.5 in every shoe and sneaker). The Techno push ratcheting system makes it easier to tighten and loosen, (but I still prefer the BOAs). The carbon sole is super read more stiff, great power transfer. Personal preference, but I'm not crazy about the dials directly in center, I prefer them on the side like the Wires. Yes, they're expensive, but these will last me a long time and more importantly, puts a smile on my face every time I put them on. Kudos to Bill Sherman for assisting me with this purchase.

Sidi Shots

Great fit as in the whole foot. A feeling of encapsulating the foot. I have older Sidi's and have these in the same size. My one and only reservation is their innersole, it gives one a real feel of the shoe! A bit to much. Other than that, perfectly happy with them. One doesn't buy Sidi's, you invest in them. A shoe for many seasons.

Glow-tastic

There are folks out there who will say that spending $550 on a pair of bright yellow cycling shoes is indulgent and extravagant. Those folks are philistines who have never stood at the intersection where beauty meets performance. You should ignore their sideways glances and immediately purchase these shoes. Comfort here is unmatched; the top mounted dials create a custom slipper-esque read more feeling. The vents in the carbon sole are functional and I could actually feel air moving around my feet on descents. For a shoe that feels absolute weightless, the power transfer is unlike anything out there. And yes, they glow in the dark... which is probably not something I'll ever use on the bike. But when I tuck myself in to bed at night and see my shoes happily glowing across the room, that morning climb can't come soon enough.

Great shoe: so far so good

This product is an upgrade on some older Sidi shoes that I've had in my arsenal for many years. My older shoes were 45 wide. After some stretching out, the wide's turned out to be too wide for my foot so I was always fully clamped in. I purchased these shoes in a 45 normal width and the fit was perfect. The toe box in this shoe is quite forgiving and I have a semi-wide foot. The read more adjustable heel is an nice feature and it firmly secures my heel into the shoe for all pedal strokes. The double techno push 3 system is a significant upgrade from my old, latching mechanism. It is very easy to add micro adjustments to your shoe as you ride in 2 locations. These shoes are indeed very expensive, but they look amazing and they perform equally as well. I'm not a racer, but I do put in 100 - 150 miles/week and I'm really enjoying these shoes so far.

Excellent Sidi standards

I have only ever worn Sidi shoes going back 17 years. The new boa style tension system on the Shot is a super simple and comfortable design. The release requires just one hand. Love them. With a slightly wider size 10 foot, 44.5 fits like a glove.

Excellent shoes overall

Wider in the toe box and longer than previous Sidis I've worn but comfortable overall. These fit more similarly to Giros than I expected, but seem to wrap my foot better with the new, top-closure boa system. Possibly a bit heavier than those Giros with Velcro or lacing system, but easily adjustable quickly. Style and design second to none, imho. I'd like a speedplay-specific read more sole, but that may occur down the road. Ventilation I can feel until I inserted Superfeet insoles, which I might perforate myself--or just remove for the originals.

Are these Sidi's sized like previous models where the full sizes are the same length as the next half size but the half size is just a bit wider. i.e. 45 and 45.5 are the same length but 45.5 is wider?

I have normal-to-wide feet and have a pair of Sidi Genius Fit Carbon Mega in 48 that now seem too big (stretched out). Will these fit me in regular 48? (I know that some Sidi are slightly smaller while others fit true to size)
