Salomon XA Pro 3D Wide Trail Running Shoe - Men's reviews and deals for sale

Salomon built its Men's XA Pro 3D Wide Trail Running shoe like a bulldozer so you can grind up steep, rocky trails and switchbacks with relative ease. The upper balances breathability with durability by combining mesh with synthetic overlays to defend against rocks, logs, and roots. Sensifit technology places supportive overlays from the midsole to the laces to cradle and support your foot as you tromp over mountainous terrain, while a shaped EVA footbed delivers the cushioning necessary to keep your feet trucking up the trail.

As Expected

I was conflicted on whether or not I should buy this shoe after reading some of the reviews. It's definitely not the most comfy wide shoe ever - but it's meant for running, not casual wear, so it shouldn't fit like an over sized moccasin. After a month of running in it, I'm pleased with the performance. I had run in the standard speedcross in the past, and wanted to try a wide read more since that shoe fit way too tight on the sides of my foot. This shoe in a wide is much better, and I'll probably buy another when it eventually wears out.

Not wide

The toe part might be slightly wider than regular size but the heel is very narrow, could not even put it on.

Amazing Shoe After Surgery

I got this shoe for a family member of mine who has planter fascia and here is what he said: These have been the greatest pair of shoes I have worn in my life. They are so comfortable on my feet and I am finally able to walk after suffering from bad plantar fascia in both feet. These shoes have made a big impact on my recovery, and I have been wearing them during my aggressive read more therapy training.

Finally found that fit again...

I had a pair of similar Solomon's several years ago that I ended up using for a 30 mile Teton Crest backpacking trip and I absolutely loved them. Light weight, comfortable, supportive. Since wearing them out I have purchased 3 different pair over the past couple years of the "new and improved" design and always found them extremely narrow in the toe box for me and very painful read more for any lengthy hikes. Finally gave these wide versions a try and we are back to that fit I fell in love with several years ago. I also went of other's recommendations and sized up and that ended up being the right thing to do for me. Normally wear 10.5-11. Went with 11.5. These shoes fit great, are comfortable, light for everyday wear and hiking. No backpacking in them yet but soon to come.

Wouldn't run, Perfect for travel

The shoes are too heavy for me to want to run in them. They are a great hiking shoe, and an even better travel shoe. I love the quick lace closure that Salomon shoes have now, it allows me to take off my shoes for TSA with ease. They are like slip on shoes when the laces are open and ready to rock when you close them up tight. I also love the Waterproof feature, it allows me to read more walk through streams without navigating over slippery rocks. All around great shoe. I'd say the only downside is that walking with the laces open the shoe feels more narrow, but once I cinch them up they feel great.

The Straight Up Sucks Award goes too

Having been a longtime user of Salomon foot wear I know the quality you can expect from many of their trail and running shoes. The newer Salomon XA Pro 3D CS WP Running Shoes are made in Taiwan and Vietnam whereas the older style was made in China. A size 12 made in China fits like it should, and was sized like most competitor brands of similar style running shoes. The shoes coming read more out of Taiwan and Vietnam are sized too small. A size 11 foot might normally wear a 11.5 or 12 shoe. If you order a size 12 or 12.5 it will fit like a tight 11 or 11.5. You might think that trying a size 13 would fit closer to a 12 giving you about a thumbs width between the tip of your toe and the end of the shoe, and better fit your size 11.5 foot. No, that's not the case, a 13 seems to be sized like a 13 should. Whats going on with the size 12 and 12.5 shoes fitting so small? This wasn't the case with past salomon running shoes, and is not unique to only a certain lot of shoes but the same with those purchased on amazon, zappos and backcountry. They all run small within the sizes I listed. Because of this I can no longer wear the shoes I've run with for years giving Salomom a Straight Up Sucks Award of one star.
