Bikepacking Shoes

I've used these for several thousand miles of cycling and rugged bikepacking. For flat/platform pedals with aggressive pedal spikes while spending hours crossing streams, pushing a bike up mountainsides, this is the best shoe I have found. I have bikepacked across New Mexico and Arizona numerous times with these including 100+ degree desert, dust-choked forest roads, and rocky singletrack read more in the alpine. These are stiff for power transfer, but flexible enough to walk around in, the lugs and flat sole are great for engagement with the pedals with litte/no slip, and the bottom material is tough enough that they haven't been torn to shreds by pedals studs. I also appreciate the quick-laces which mean they won't get stuck in pedals and the lack of waterproofing is always preferred for breathability and adaptability. My feet are wide (Altras are what I use for backpacking), but I found these decent for my bikepacking without feeling too narrow. Improvements could be making a wider version, increasing last/sole width for better pedal engagement, and maybe more mesh for even better dry times after water and mud submersion.

Confy and lack durability

I took those on the 50 miles around Mount Hood. Rocky, sandy, rivers, perfect traction everywhere. dry reasonably fast and great fit and confort. Like all salomon shoes, they just don't know how to do mesh on their shoe. The mesh didn't last long and broke after roughly 200 miles. The rest of the shoe looks fine. The top mesh and side mesh does wear pretty quickly

salomon ultra pro trail running shoe.

Took this shoe out yesterday on a 25mile trail run right out of the box. As others have said- size down a 1/2 size from your normal running shoe. I have not run in salomon trail shoes since the speed cross 3 due to the narrow nature of the forefoot. I don't have a wide foot but a normal one, its more I don't like my forefoot held snug. This shoe has ample room, not so much that read more your foot moves around but just enough. The quick laces work great; I did have to cinch down one shoe a few times during the run but they worked well. One think I noticed that the lack of a rock plate was never noticed by my foot. I typically run in nike wild horse 5 and hoka torrent shoes. My foot will typically feel sore after 20 or so miles on the trail. Yesterday I had zero soreness of my foot after 25miles. The shoes do not feel heavy like a brooks cascadia does to me. They have a decent turnover. The toe bumper is bomb proof as is the upper. I did fall twice on the run, not sure if its due to my being a road runner who is not used to picking up my feet higher on the trail or a shoe issue, likely a gait issue. All in all a great shoe that I will buy again.

Comfort for miles and miles

These have quickly become my go to shoes for any day I am going to be out for a long time in the mountains. They have fantastic grip in both wet and dry conditions and great underfoot protection. They are also quite breathable and dry out quite quickly when you must cross a river or stream. I have now gone through 2 pairs in the last year and half and am excited to start my 3rd read more pair. Nice work Salomon.

A little more cushion

These bad boys are really making a buzz in the running world! Salomon took an incredible shoe and made it a little more affordable and fitting for everyone, not just those elite runners who the S-Lab series is designed for. These have a nice wide toe box and even shaved some weight off the S-Lab Ultra by removing the rock plate, which you wont even notice the difference with read more this much cushion. With a super responsive yet well cushioned midsole this shoe is made to go the distance, or just keep your feet comfy even at shorter distances ! These do run a little big, so if you have a narrower foot I would recommend sizing down a half size. Feel free to reach out to me personally if you have any questions about any Salomon products!

Salomon - King of the trail shoes

I got these shoes for my boyfriend as his other pair of Salomon's were no longer cutting it and he couldn't be more stoked on them. The shoes are sturdy and provide excellent performance over a variety of terrain (hard pack, gravel, loose stone, and technical rocks). The mid sole support is great, especially on the down hills, as is the roomy toe box. The heel cup is great and read more the midfoot is secure due to the "wings" on the side. They fit great right out of the box and barely had a breaking in period. He was using the Sense Pro Max before but moved to these as they are a more technical shoe for longer, rougher trails.
