Salomon Snowspike CS WP Trail Running Shoe - Men's reviews and deals for sale
To you running is all about being wild and free, so why stay inside or off the trails when the weather gets a little bit (or a lot bit) unfavorable. The Salomon Snowspike CS WP Trail Running Shoe was designed specifically for those who want to stay outside and experience their favorite trails in even the harshest winter conditions. This snow-ready shoe has many of the same characteristics as the newest version of the classic Speedcross, but has a few handy features that make it ideal for running on snow and ice.
Your main concern when heading out into the woods on a snowy day is probably about traction. No one wants to hit a hidden ice patch and go flying headfirst into the snow, which is why Salomon outfitted these shoes with a set of 12 tungsten spikes in the sole so you can have fierce grip even when you're running on hard-packed snow or icy sections of trail. The deep and widely spaced lugs will also have your back when you're running in looser snow conditions. They follow the same design as the Speedcross' lugs, which have already been updated for better traction in loose snow and mud, so you can run confidently no matter what the day's conditions are.
Another aspect of winter trail running that turns people away is the snow itself. All that cold moisture has to go somewhere, and the likely answer is into your shoe. Well luckily the Snowspike has a fully waterproof membrane to keep out moisture when you're breaking trail or pounding through some lower-mountain slush. The ClimaSalomon membrane keeps out water while still allowing your feet to breathe as you work up a sweat, while the zippered closure and higher ankle strap ensure that no snow sneaks in when you're up to your ankles. Add in a max-cushioned midsole to help you hammer out long mileage and a unique heel unit that helps with braking on steep and slippery descents, and you can forget you ever heard the word elliptical.

November 14, 2020KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY! ...
Beware, these are legit cleats! Like, aka, ice climbing tennis shoes with an attached gator (not worth nearly $200). Definitely not what I expected. Shame on me - maybe it’s obvious to most people but I didn’t think those tiny metal picks would be so aggressive. I put holes in the lament flooring of my brand new travel trailer (freaking angry!). I returned immediately. But if… read more you are going to wear them strictly for snowy/icy trails, similar to what the PNW has in most areas, these are perfect. Super beefy and comfortable. But the zipper is definitely stressed. I can’t see it lasting long with how hard you have to pull to zip it up. Putting them in is a bit of a process for sure. But once they were on I did feel like I could climb any snowy/muddy trail like a Spartan. Haha ...anyway, just know these should be treated like your wrestling shoes or football cleats - they don’t go on until you’re ready to hit the objective. Too inconvenient for my lifestyle. I am actually going to go order the newer version without the metal spikes now, because they do feel amazing. I’ll just cross my fingers and hope the newer ones have a bit more room in the zipper.
