Salomon QST 106 Ski reviews and deals for sale

Like you, Salomon's QST 106 Ski craves those deep powdery mornings, yet it can still handle its own when you're forced to ride on-piste because everything's tracked out. Given its 106mm waist width, the middle offering in the QST line, this ski undoubtedly hovers over the sweet soft stuff with ease, and the Twin Rocker profile blends tip and tail rocker with camber underfoot for enhanced performance down untracked powder, quick pivoting turns, and superior edge hold on the firm stuff. Toss in a solid medium length turn radius and you have a pair of sticks that thrive all over the mountain at high speeds.

Salomon started construction of the QST with a full length poplar core that provides a damp and consistent feel from tip to tail. Carbon stiffens the ski up without weighing it down, while a Titanal insert increases the ski's edge-to-edge speed and responsiveness. As a major change this ski now features cork in the tip and tail to dramatically decrease chatter at high speeds and add a little stability compared to previous year models. This beefed up construction with a classic shape will have you enjoying all of your days spent on the hill.

Heavy Tank

Not a fan. I find this ski to heavy. I don’t want to hike with these. They don’t ski that great in powder the noise seems a bit heavy. I don’t spend to much time on groomers but these are chatty. 6ft 160lbs The bindings are mounted at the recommended line.

Best Ski Ever! QST 106!

The QST 106 continues to lead the charge! I have skied this ski for the last few years and it continues to get better every year, something I though was impossible. If you are picking a ski that can do it all for your next, look no further. This year the QST 106 is lighter, has better edge transmission, a quieter feel, and more float than the previous versions, again refining read more what’s already good in the 106 to make it an even better choice when put up to other skis in the category. This ski has become my daily choice mainly because of its versatility. Whether you are skiing high speed groom to deep snow on your first run, the QST 106 has the composition to excel at everything in between. I really like the effective edge to rocker profile. Grabs when needed and holds well and floats effortlessly with the little broader tip and rocker shape. The cork in the shovel is a great addition to reduce weight and to quiet the ski down in a variety of conditions. I was really surprised when I first felt how light they were on my feet to how powerful they felt on the snow. Pair this ski with the Salomon Shift binding or even a Warden or STH and the feel of the ski is amazing. I cannot speak highly enough of this ski model! Simply put for me it’s a one ski quiver.

Love these skis!

This season Salomon made major upgrades to an already incredible ski. I have been skiing the QST 106 for a few years and have sampled them in almost every imaginal snow condition. They are my go to ski for everything from ripping groomers to backcountry powder laps to heli ski guiding in Iceland. This is the quiver of one. The QST 106 is super stable at high speeds and can arc read more a turn with the best of them. The new cork insert in the tip and tail improves dampening and makes for a smooth ride. Additionally, they modified the shape and added a wider tip. This has been very noticeable powder skiing as I used to feel like my tips would dive in heavier snow they now float to the surface naturally. The new slanted sidewall has increased the durability of an already bombproof ski. I ski the 181cm length in the backcountry with the MTN tech binding. This is a nice light setup for backcountry powder laps. They also have a custom cut skin for this ski. On resort and heli ski guiding I ski these in a 188cm length mounted with the S/Lab Shift binding. This is the ultimate setup that I have fallen in love with. The extra length makes this a great ski for even the deepest of days and the versatility of the Shift binding allows me to slap on skins and tour whenever I need to. The only downfall of this combo and the longer length is the weight. I wouldn't use this as my touring specific setup. I would recommend this ski to anyone looking for an all around crusher ski and wants to spend most of the time skiing off piste, but still be able to hold their own on the groomers.

All terrain crusher!

From day to day work on Ski Patrol to backcountry guiding I’ve put the Salomon QST 106s to the test. The new construction and shape makes them more playful and responsive. I pair them with the Shift MNC binding for everyday and “side country” laps and MTN binding for long touring days in the backcountry. If you’re into having fun on skis these bad boys will read more not let you down no matter what the conditions.

The Perfect Ski

The 106 is the perfect everyday charger. I have a shift binding on it and ski it both on and off resort and love every minute of it. They are a little stiffer than previous years models, but the little bit of extra tip and tail rise keeps the playful feel, they just can charge harder now. They excel in all conditions, you will definitely not be disappointed in this ski.

A super enjoyable ski all around!

This is my go to ski for everything. A true 1 ski quiver. It’s good in the chop, excellent in powder and stable at speed. I’ve had the last 2 iterations of this ski and this one is by far my favorite. I would definitely recommend this ski for both on area use and backcountry touring.

Awesome!!!

Being a Salomon ambassador I was lucky enough to spend most of last season on these bad boys, and it was awesome!! The 106 has been completely resigned for this year with the biggest change being the increased rocker in the trail. This improvement allows the ski to release far better in powder and crusty conditions than ever before. The 106 waist is an excellent choice for someone read more looking for one ski to do it all. They handle powder like a dream but also allow you to rip groomers at the resort. Paired with the Salomon Shift bindings they go uphill really well. I have taken them on longer tours in the La Sals as well as short approaches here in the Wasatch. It might not be the lightest setup out there but the added performance on the downhill makes it well worth it. Overall couldn't be happier with these skis and I'm pumped they are finally available to everyone else.
