RIO Specialty Series LightLine Fly Line reviews and deals for sale

Putting an aggressive, fast-loading line on your fiberglass or bamboo fly rod is like dropping a turbo in an old pickup truck—it might work, but it kind of defeats the point of the pickup. Rio designed its Specialty Series LightLine Fly Line to match the classic action of feel of all the fiberglass, bamboo, and slow action graphite rods that are becoming increasingly popular these days. Its short front taper loads quickly, making it ideal for small creeks where casting space is limited, while the MaxFloat technology keeps the line up on the surface where it can be easily mended to get the perfect drift and presentation that will convince the trout to eat your fly.

Lightline

This line is awesome for my butterstick! Before i was using rio mainstream line with my rod and casting with it would always slap the water. With this line, i can make delicate presentations and not spook fish.

Still great

I've been using this for a few summers now on my main small stream setup, and just upgraded from a basic fly line to this for some rods that don't get as much use. Definite upgrade for a fiberglass rod.

Good Line

I put this line on my 2 weight Butterstick using the 2 weight line option. Seems to get the job done for what little streams I've been fishing with the 2 weight. Hoping to get out to something more substantial to test casting more.

Pair with a fiberglass fly rod

I use this line for small stream fishing with a fiberglass fly rods like the Redington Butterstick or Echo Glass. It is great for those tight streams where you expect to fish in the 10-30 ft range. If you are going to bomb out 50 ft casts at a lake or wide open river I might pick something else. #glassisnotdead
