Redington Classic Trout Fly Rod - 6-Piece reviews and deals for sale

Trout are your target, and the river you fish in is tight. You'll need a rod that's precise but reliable, something like the Redington Classic Trout 6-Piece Fly Rod. Although not a specialist like some of the beefier choices out there, this medium-action rod is a practical workhorse. It excels at short, precise casts, puts the fly right where you need it, and pulls it back with ultimate responsiveness. And should you need to lay out a long bit of line, you'll find it can do that too. Sure, there are more expensive rods, but this is the versatile, go-to rod you'll reach for every time.

Perfect for Travel

I snagged this mainly for bringing on camping/backpacking trips. The 6 piece breakdown makes it so it easily fits in my pack. Now I don't have to worry about getting caught on trees anymore, or losing my pole from carrying it outside my pack.

Little rod big fish no problem

I got the 3wt 8ft rod. This tiny little guy can cast 60 ft no problem, when I first cast it I was floored by how well it casts. I paired it with a 4wt line (the intouch rio grande) and it balanced it quite well. Even bigger bugs like size 8 woolly bugger flys right through the air. And I am absolutely in love with its compact easy to carry size I can take it everywhere with me without read more any hassle. Just caught my first fish on it last weekend a nice bow. It handled perfectly.

Great value rod for travel

If I'm flying someplace and going to be carrying on gear, this is the rod to take. Also use it for backpacking on less manicured trails where I don't want the added length of a 4 pc rod sticking out. The rod itself works great, there are a few things missing from higher end rods but once you have a fish on the line you don't notice those things :)

Great Travel Rod

I needed a rod to take with on a plane for a fishing trip, and also wanted one that I could put in my motorcycle saddle bags for local trips. I purchased a cheap one that ended up with a loose reel seat, and after returning it, decided to spend a few dollars more and get something of better quality. I had heard great things about the Redington CT 4-piece rods and figured I would read more give the 6-piece travel rod a try. I am glad I did! It packed easily in my carry-on bag and performed very nicely on the river. I would definitely recommend this rod to anyone who wants one that packs to a convenient length and still casts a fly line beautifully.

Impressive.

The main reason I picked up this rod was to have a good all around 5wt 9' rod for backpacking around central Oregon. I recently went on a 3 day trip to the Crooked River where size 18-20 flies are the norm. This rod casts impressively well. It has a very limber feel to it yet it is still very stable. Loop control was great and casts pretty well in the wind. I love the delicate read more presentation this rod allowed. I have a feeling I will be using this more than just a backpacking rod. Something to note is that Redington is owned by Sage and the quality definitely shows and for the cost of this rod, it is a steal. It might lack in the technology department but I don't know where they shaved costs on making this rod but its a good one to have and lite on the wallet. And it comes with the case! Which is another bonus. With that being said the only complaint I have is the alignment dots for aligning each section is way off. I'm used to not having them but with 6 pieces, this rod can take some time being put together. But any good fisherman will have some patience :) None the less not worth losing a star on this review.
