Rab Hunza Stretch Mid Gaiter reviews and deals for sale

Avoid getting pebbles in your shoes and keep rain out of your socks with the Hunza Stretch Mid Gaiter. Made from stretchy fabric that's been laminated to a 3L Stretch Watergate waterproof and breathable membrane and finished with a DWR coating, the Hunza keeps your feet protected from morning dew, moderate rain, and soggy trails. The underfoot bungee, and lace hook make it easy to get on and off, and the silicone grip keeps the fabric from sliding down and letting the trail gators attack your ankles.

Good Gaiter

Decent little gaiters. I was surprised at how well they stayed put on my legs. I wasn't bothered with the fact that you have to take your shoes off to put them on/take them off but the I did find it hard to keep the clip in place some of the time. The material is great- super soft with a bit of stretch and sheds water well.

awkward to put on/off

You cannot take these off your boots without first pulling them up your leg, then take off boots, then pull down your leg, past your foot, and finally off. And, you must do the reverse to put them on. In other words, the gaiter does not open up (like an OR Croc gaiter for exanmple) with velcro or a zipper. So, for me, a pain to use them as you would have to pull-up a wet gaiter read more over your socks and get them all wet and muddy! It's too bad because the fabric is really nice: Stretchy and supposedly waterproof/breathable (I returned them before using them, so I have no idea). Also, as others have said, the leg opening is very large and I found it nearly impossible to tightly cinch these around my calves: Water would get in for sure. I am kinda skinny, so, I think these gaiters would be best for those with thicker lower legs.

Poor sizing up top

I wear a size 12 shoe, and bought size large. Bought these to keep rain from going into my shoe from the leg when I am wearing shorts and goretex hikers. Size on boot is great but size around ankle is terrible. These must be meant for people wearing thick socks and those that have fat leg cankles because I cannot cinch it tight enough.

You Shall Not Pass

These gaiters tend to run a little small, probably due to the stretch fit. I would order a size up, especially if you will be trying to fit them over bulky boots. However, they have held up really well after two seasons of relatively rough use and I have no issues with their ability to keep snow, water, and scree out of my boots. I agree that the lace hook being on the small side. read more I have to pop it on and off my laces with some force, but I’ve never had a real issue with it.

Hook is a problem with boots. Run large.

The hook is difficult to secure on hiking boots. It is fairly thick plastic, so it does not slide under firmly laced boots without great effort. Also, the sizing is big. I bought the large (size 10.5 boots), and there was far too much slack around the boot. I might try a medium since the fabric is unlikely to snag on thorns, etc., which I like; however, I'm wary of having to replace read more or invert the hook.

Not sure I'd choose these again

I bought these for a 6-day trek on the Laugavegur Trail in Iceland. They were light and functional for keeping rocks out, but the elastic cord at the ankle is a little weird. Also, the sizer on the red cord broke immediately and I had to tie knots in it. They served their purpose but I wouldn't recommend them. (Also, if you're vain, and you're wearing standard fit pants, they look read more kind of weird in pictures... they'd be fine with tights/spandex or skinny fit)

good protection. Weird sizing.

These are great gaiters. I wear them every time I go backpacking or even hiking. Great at keeping dirt/rocks/and water out. They are light weight and short so you don't really notice them. I primarily wear my trail running shoes (North Face Ultra GTX size 10.5) so when I bought the Large they were obviously meant more for hiking boots. So if you're like me and are buying these to read more use with trail running shoes buy the Medium size and they should fit nice and snug. There is a thin elastic cord that wraps around the bottom of your shoes to hold it in place but it will quickly wear out. They come with 2 extra elastic cords. If you want short gaiters to wear with trail running shoes you should definitely consider buying these.
