Petzl Spirit 3D Screw-Lock Carabiner reviews and deals for sale

Unlike most locking carabiners, Petzl designed its Spirit 3D Screw-Lock Carabiner for climbing-specific situations like belay stations and top-rope anchors. Made solely out of aluminum, this is Petzl's lightest carabiner, and its H-shaped cross section gives it a surprising amount of durability with a superb strength-to-weight ratio. It has a very compact size to keep anchors clean, and its size helps accommodate multiple climbers at a single belay station. Despite its compact quality, this biner has a wide contact surface for better rope glide that also reduces wear on the carabiner for excellent longevity. The screw-lock sleeve is easy to use and provides efficient clipping, and the visual indicator clearly points out whether it's locked or not. This pear-shaped carabiner also features a keylock nose for snag-free clipping every time.

5 stars is no joke

This carabiner is no joke! Besides being super lightweight, it’s also versatile. From use with the GRIGRI+ to anchor points, it excels at it all. The red unlocked indicator is a nice backup warning if you forget to screw it closed. I have never had a screw gate back itself open with the Petzl Spirit 3D. I have several & want more, a top notch biner!

So good!

These are by far my favorite locking carabiners. The red on the screwgate is a super nice touch too, just to ensure they're locked. It stands out nicely with the silver. Otherwise, they are light, smooth action, no annoying nose hook thing, and overall fantastic. I also really like the DMM Shadows, but these are just as great.

Use it to stay on the wall!

I use mine when I take it off my harness to clip into placed or fixed gear. I then create some variation of an anchor that prevents me from falling (pretty awesome). Why i actually committed exclusively to Petzl - They cut out the bulk of their weight from the center which keeps the profile super slim and light, plus the glaring red warning tracks that come in if you're being a read more dingus and forget to screw in your lockers. Clip it, lock it, catch your partner when they whip *thumbs up*

My Favorite Carabiner!

I'm not even sure how many of these I have these days, but this carabiner is the BEST! It's lightweight, ergonomic, and low-profile, with a big enough basket for a clove hitch. I use them for anchor-building, on my personal-anchor, and for literally anything else. Don't just buy one, buy five! You won't regret it!

The Standard

I love these carabiners! They are my standard for anchor building. The red anodize gate indication is clutch for the ease of visual inspection that the gate is locked. the narrow nose makes them great for clipping anchors and even tight chains. King of the light D's

A great go-to for anchoring, with a versatile shape, including its low-profile nose. Similar options include the DMM Shadow (a wee bit wider), Mammut Wall Micro (locks in fewer turns), Edelrid Pure Screw (a wee bit smaller), and DMM Phantom (4 grams lighter and a good bit smaller). All are close in weight. Like the Spirit, the Pure Screw also has a slim nose to pair with auto-lockers read more (see John Stewart's photo, below, of the Spirit with the Mega Jul). But for its size, this is the lightest by a few grams, and it's the staple of my rack for anchoring.

Half The Weight Of Comparable Biners

So light it feels like a plastic toy but this is no toy. This is Petzl hard at work making an awesome featherlight carabiner. I also like the red visual indicator. Smooth operation, one snap of your finger and this baby is closed. Great choice for an anchor carabiner.

Can't screw up with this screw-gate

The Petzl Spirit screw-gate is by far one of my favorite pieces of gear on my harness. Just from holding it, you instantly notice how incredibly light it is despite being a standard size D locker. The spring tension feels amazingly crisp and snappy, inspiring confidence in its robust strength. This biner is super versatile, as I've used it for pretty much any purpose you would use read more a locker for. For instance, I've used this biner on a PAS, building anchors, belaying with a Gri-gri, etc. One of my favorite things about Petzl screw-gates is the red marking on the gate when it is unscrewed, giving a good visual reminder to always screw down so you don't screw up!

Bomber 'biner

A great, lightweight locking caribiner. Have used it time and time again for setting up anchors. It has excellent hand-feel.

My Anchor Lockers!!

These lockers are my go to for multi pitch traditional routes. They are super light so I carry three of them on a double length runner. The locking and unlocking is so smooth its almost sensual, (some of you I'm sure know what I mean). If you're looking for something tho rappel off of this is not the carabiner to use. It will be toast after only a few rappels. So for you canyoneers read more and or guides, I would suggest heavy steel lockers or a little beefier alternative. BD rock lock is a popular lighter alternative for those not taking groups down water canyon everyday. Be safe out there!

Best little locker out there!

I love the spirit 3D lockers! They are low profile and light weight so they don't clutter up the rack and anchor. They are also very easy to lock and unlock. The key-lock feature is also super nice to help avoid snagging while clipping. These are the perfect biner when weight and performance are the main considerations.

The best light weight Best light 'biner

I've used a number of light-weight 'biners and this one is by far the best I've used in the field! The locking mechanism is as smooth as silk, the size is perfect (not too small to operate, even with gloves on), and the red indicator helps me remember to lock it. Also, the fact that the H-stock material has a widened section on it makes it smoother than any other modified-D shaped read more 'biner on the market when using it in a Reverso. And the key-lock nose is a must have for any 'biner. This and the Attache are now my go-to links! Climbing to kayaking

Love love love!!! The main reason I got this was to attach to my personal anchor system and clip to manky thin chains! This caribeaner is really thin and fits excellent into chains so you can be safe while cleaning sport climbing routes. It works great in the water as well won't go into much detail but I had some grains of sand get into it and got so stuck had to get pliers to read more unstick the screw gate

Spot on

Like all Petzl products these carabiners are extremely well thought-out. Keylock nose for easy clipping/unclipping (I'm not sure why carabiners are still made with the traditional hook - all it does it catch on the rope or slings when clipping). Lightweight with a useful red safety marker so you know when it's not locked. Quick spinning screw action (usually one flick is all you read more need). Held up great over several climbs - I'll be buying more of these as well as the larger Attache model.

Petzl Spirit 3D Screw-Lock Carabiner Questions and Answers

Asked by Jack C. 4 years ago

It says 'shimano HG' -- does this refer to modern shimano 11-spd cassettes? I have a 2017 Cannondale Synapse and want to make sure it's compatible with my 105 cassette/build. Thanks!
