December 15, 2020Sizing WAY Off; Unflattering cut
The recent reviews read that these pants are sized far too small, while earlier reviews say they are too big. I am very petite and it is difficult for me to find pants that fit my small hips, so I took a chance that they might be sized smaller than normal. I opened the bag and they were HUGE! I tried them on and not only was I swimming in them, but the cut was very boxy and unflattering.… read more Due to the amount of reviews with differing experiences, I would not recommend.

May 9, 2020Constricting
I generally trust Patagonia to make quality stuff, but these did not meet expectations. The fabric is soft and breathable and light, and the construction seems pretty solid. I was excited about the gusseted crotch design. They fit ok in the legs but were a struggle to get over the hips. Okay fine, not built for my body (even though my hips are on the narrower side of average...).… read more But the major issue for me was that they had exceptionally little give. I couldn't bend my legs more than 90 degrees at the hip, which is pretty useless for outdoor sports, and sitting down isn't comfortable. I don't think sizing up would help unless I sized up enough to swim in them. I'm not sure how this could have been designed for rock climbing. Also, aesthetic note, the 'smokey violet' color is a lot paler in person than it was on my screen.

April 17, 2020Way too small
Like others recommended, I sized up -- but it wasn't enough. They're fine in the legs, but the waist is way too tight for this new momma - even really sized up from other clothes I'm wearing these days.

March 26, 2020Runs way too small
I ordered 1 size up so they’d be a little baggy in the hip/thigh for movement while climbing or hiking that I could then adjust at the waist. But no, they are way too small. I would need to order at least 2 sizes up, and I don’t want to go through the hassle in case I get it wrong a second time so I’ll be returning. They seem well-made and comfortable, if they were to fit… read more properly.

March 7, 2020Very Disappointing
This is my 3rd pair of Venga rock pants. The first two did not stand up to climbing. I purchased these because they were on sale. I also selected a size larger than my previous Vengas just to have a baggier fit. These were WAY TOO SMALL! Thinking I was crazy, I held them up to my size 2 vengas and found that these are actually smaller. Very disappointing considering Patagonia is… read more a company very vocal about the quality of their goods. These are going back.

January 29, 2020Are these children’s pants?
These run VERY small!!! It’s a shame, as they are very cute and well made! The grey color is gorgeous. If you order, I suggest sizing up 2 whole sizes,

November 7, 2019no stretch
The style and material are great. Unfortunately there is no stretch to the waist/thigh area. Not practical for hiking and/or outdoor activity.

November 6, 2019it's all in the fabric
I've bought a bunch of different pairs of vengas over the years - I've worn the hell out of the first three, am busting through both knees - they're worn 2-3 times a week in the gym and then outdoors for every trip I take. But I gave the fourth away to a friend (they stretched out super big) and returned the final pair (the thighs were crazy tight with no give) - the fabric changes… read more from year to year and color to color - the original was a cotton-heavy blend which stretched and wore well - the more recent years appear to be a blend with less cotton that doesn't stretch at all. Again, I love my first couple of pairs, but I am holding out hope that the fabric will be swapped back for better stuff.

August 20, 2019Not so happy
I bought these in the size 4 thinking they'd fit my normal size. I couldn't get them over my hips and once I finally did it felt like they would rip if I bent over. So I wound up returning and then reordering size 6 and 8. The 6 is also small and the 8 fits, but is tight on the thighs. This leaves no stretch room, which isn't comfortable for hiking or any physical activities. Such… read more a funky design. I don't even have big muscles, just your average/small girl. Very disappointed.

November 27, 2018LOVE !
These are my go to pants, not only casually but for some climbing as well! They are super comfy and I love the green color! They are not super tight which I like, I did try the size 0 first and they were way too tight around my hips so I got the size 2 and they are a much better fit!

November 14, 2018Love these pants!
Love love love these pants. For a girl who is extra small (5'' 100 lbs) finding a nice pair of climbing pants that actually fit properly is pretty much impossible...but these pants fit so nice in all aspects. Yes they do run a bit big waist wise but that is why they have that belt fit into the pants that work great so far. They are longer as well but i usually roll my pants up anyways.… read more Other then that i love these pants, they are so comfortable, fit my body, and i could literally wear them everyday!

October 16, 2018Why are these called rock pants?
Not sure why these are called rock pants... they have pretty much no stretch (i.e. mobility).

Bought as a gift "The fit was relaxed and so comfy! They felt like I was wearing pajama pants!! Pockets are good and the fabric is nice!"

July 2, 2018Some of my Favorite Pants
I wear the crap outta these pants. I have a size 8 and 6 and the 6 fits better, 8 is still loose with the belt cinched and tied in a knot to keep it there. The gusseted crotch is perfect for mobility in climbing and the stretch is everything I want it to be. The length is short, which is usually a problem for my 5'9", but I usually roll up the bottoms when I climb anyway, and just… read more deal with the slight high-waters when I wear them out. They're too comfy not to wear all the time. The pockets are actually big enough to hold real-sized items, which is the most annoying part about women's pants to me, and the thigh pocket fits a phone nicely as well. I only say it runs large because the description states it's a slim fit. I'd say it's fairly true to size for a relaxed fit

June 26, 2018wife loves the pants
She ordered these the other day and they look great on her, a little long in the sleeve but not super long as she is petite.

April 16, 2018Loose and comfy!
Wore these for a solid day of climbing, and they're really comfortable and light. They also have a ton of stretch, and as others have commented, run large everywhere, but especially in the waist. I would recommend going a size small when ordering these- I'm usually between a 6 and an 8, and the 6s that I ordered are really comfy but they fit a bit like scrubs, and I have the waist… read more tab tightened all the way. Not really a problem for climbing in a harness, but might be annoying for bouldering.

March 15, 2018Not the greatest
I can’t remember when I got these pants, but they might be an older model and since been changed. I am disappointed in the fit and quality though. I am 5’10”, 145lb, long arms/ legs, average torso and I got a size 6 (my usual Patagonia size) which fit well only in the waist. Usual sizes: Carhartt 4 long, Prana 4, American Eagle 2/4 The crotch area is weird and the length… read more is too short. After wearing them a few times at the crag, I got over the length and fit because wearing them under a harness and rolling the ends up a little alleviated any previous fit issues. However, after taking them up a multi pitch climb in Red Rock, they came back with a lot of abrasion and were worn through on the knee. I know I wasn’t the easiest on them but come on, they lasted 4 or 5 wears. I will continue to wear them out but they aren’t my first pick when it comes to grabbing pants for climbing.

February 13, 2018Best ever.
These are my favorite for hiking, climbing, casual wear, and chilling pants. True to size.

February 9, 2018I agree, the waist is a problem
Since purchasing, I've climbed and worked out at the gym with these and I love them! Breathable and stretchy, but also cool and casual looking enough for me to wear them everyday. The 6 fits my thighs and butt perfectly, but the waist stretches out so quickly I have to wear a belt.

February 1, 2018the waist is the issue
These pants are a durable material and I really wanted to like them. However, just as a personal preference, I like my pants to sit on my hips without squeezing. Although he pants fit right, the waistline is just a little tighter which I dont like. The Prana pants as a comparison have a looser waistline so they sit perfectly at the waist without a squeeze at the top. They also… read more have a slimmer leg than the Prana.
