Duh, it's Patagonia!

Just got my new rain jacket! Could not wait to try it on, but I did because I was making a curry for tonight and well, I did not want any of the spices on my new jacket. It fits great and I can even put my down puffy under it for the cold Salida dog walks when it's snowing. We travel all the time (Covid has changed that, for now) but that doesn't mean that our year old rastapoodle read more cares that I don't want to go out when it's raining. I did that last week and my poor, worn-out rain jacket was too breathable; I was wet all over when I got home. My birthday is coming up and thought I should shop for a new waterproof and breathable jacket. Of course, I read all the reviews from all the sources. I love all things Patagonia and have since the early '80's when I could afford great outdoor gear. The hardest part was deciding on a color. Love the pit zips, the length and the cover that the hood provides. It's light enough for a humid, Southern rain, as well. Over the years I have sold some Patagonia at bike swaps and given some to family/friends when I got tired of it but I have never been able to wear it out. I know I will have years of use out of this jacket. Happy Birthday to me! :-)

Wonderful jacket

I bought this for my daughter age 27. She loves the fit! It is a great coat and the price was much less than other stores. This company has great costumer service and fast deliveries especially during Covid. I have been very impressed ! I have already used them 4 times!

Patagonia does it again!

Tech Talk: H2NO... more like H2AWESOME (sorry I had to)! Patagonia has made their classic rain jacket even more amazing, continuing to use their H2NO waterproof technology. The much loved Torrentshell has gotten a face lift this season, upgrading to a 3 layer construction from a 2.5 layer. This means that you not only have more protection from the elements, there is added comfort, read more more durability and higher performance as well! If you care about the environment (as we all do), you probably know that Patagonia is the go to outdoor gear company to buy from as they are really creating the best products that have both the environment and people in mind. The new Torrentshell is made with ECONYL recycled nylon yarns and Fair Trade certified sewn. My experience: So far, I have worn this jacket on both a warmer (60s) sunny day taking my dog to the park as well as on a very cold and snowing day out with my dog! It performed amazingly in both weather types! Here are some quick reasons I love this jacket. -Super comfortable when worn with a thin long sleeve and a bigger puffy (800 fill) underneath. -small brim on hood which is a MUST for me since I have glasses and it provides protection from rain/snow getting on the lenses. -adjustable hood made it easy to find the right fit and keep the hood exactly where I needed it to be. -water beaded beautifully (see photo below) when snowing, I felt very protected in this jacket -Super buttery zipper, love the fabric protecting the zipper which also creates a more sleek look. -Stowable hood was awesome for the sunnier day when I did not need it. -PIT ZIPS are a must for shell jackets in my opinion- I used them on the warmer day when I needed a little ventilation- they are easy to access and the zippers don't catch (I have other jackets that do that... so annoying haha). -wrist adjustment made the jacket way more comfortable for me. I am petite and have shorter arms, the wrist adjustment makes it so the sleeves the right length. Also protects from snow getting up my sleeve. -Large hand pockets with plenty of room for my doggy bags, phone, wallet, and my hands when it was cold. -women specific fit perfectly, love the high low of the jacket which covers my bum. Overall Sentiment: Love at first wear? I think so. Definitely recommend this jacket to anyone and everyone! Size info: 5'1; 115lbs; got the XS (fit perfectly)

A Patagonia Classic Made Even Better!

This is Patagonia's flagship rain (or shine) jacket, and for good reason! Simple, minimalist, well-made and partially from recycled materials too so you can feel even better about buying it. This year the Torrentshell got an extra thick layer and so I think it's worth the investment for the enhanced durability and construction. How did it feel? Well, first of all I found myself read more not wanting to take it off while even trying it on indoors. The material? Brand new, it's got a stiff ironed feel, but quickly breaks down to conform and crease around your body. There is some soft fleece on the neck, and the hand pockets are satisfyingly large and fuzzy on the inside, so I found myself keeping my hands there a lot. It's also hard to tell in the photos, but there is also a hidden chest pocket - perfect for your phone, wallet, etc. The jacket itself feels thick and durable (way more tough than your average rain jacket) with nice details - ie, a piece of material stitched well to protect the zipper for instance, and little grooves in the jacket designed to wick water off in the event of, well, torrential rain. The long pit zips were sweet for opening during a little trail jogging and exertion on a sunny day although this jacket is meant more for lighter bouts of activity and not necessarily full on cardio. I took this on a melty snowy day, even laid in the snow and the water beaded off beautifully and the jacket protected me from the intense sun. I got the Gypsum Green, which features the pleasant sea-foam green /olive color block. Think more matte-finish than shiny, and soft rather than a typical squeaky plastic bag-like rain jacket. All in all, sweet, sweet quality especially at that price point! This is definitely a shining example of why Patagonia is one of the top outdoor brands out there - attention to detail, a focus on quality and craftsmanship and made ethically, and not going to totally break the bank either! If you're thinking about getting this, you won't regret it. Best rain jacket!
