Patagonia Snowshot Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale
To some people, weekends in the winter mean sleeping late, cozying up with a blanket, and lazing the day away on the couch. But you're less about binge-watching and sleeping in and more about sunrise coffee and bump runs, and instead of a blanket, you'll be sliding into the Patagonia Snowshot Jacket. This waterproof ski shell boasts an H2No membrane, giving you breathable weather protection on snowy summits and slushy spring groomers alike.
This jacket has you pow-day prepared, with a helmet-compatible hood keeping snow off of you as you bounce through knee deep snow, while the powder skirt keeps snow from sneaking in the bottom when that snow proves a little too deep and you take a digger. When you start to work up a sweat on steep and deep tree runs, you can quickly dump heat with zippered underarm vents, then get back to your favorite weekend pastime.

November 23, 2020awesome jacket
5 "10 180lbs size large. Jacket has a bigger fit than your typical slim Patagonia jacket but its for function. Sleeves hang down to your knuckles but bend your arm and they sit perfectly. This is a classic freeride almost a snowboard fit. Excellent materials and build quality as usual. I would categorize this as an all terrain jacket. Hiking side country laps with a few miles of… read more climbing on cold powdery winter days would be great. Doing a 10 mile tour on a hot spring day I would bring my nano Hoodie instead. I wear this on the coldest snowiest days beads wet snow like a champ.

February 29, 2020The Saga of the Ski Jacket
Some background, I'm 5'10" 145lbs, a cyclists build. Most size SM ski jackets these days are simply too baggy for my liking, i prefer a snug fit. This jacket comes in XS and fits me perfectly. The powder skirt is great, jacket is well constructed and seems to have survived four days of Steamboats finest tree runs with no snags or tears. Very happy to have found the right fit,… read more even if it is an XS.

January 21, 2020This is the one
After an exhaustive search for a new shell or insulated jacket, I have finally settled on the Snowshot shell to replace my 8 year old Outdoor Research Stormbound jacket. The primary features that drove me to the Snowshot were: 1) The quality of the jacket and Patagonia warranty support 2) The comfort of the fabric and especially the collar 3) The excellent pockets 4) The helmet-compatible… read more hood 5) The powder skirt that fits just right 6) Good value At the end I had it down to the Marmot Spire, Patagonia Powderbowl, and the Snowshot. The Marmot got eliminated because the collar was too stiff and the pockets weren't very good (but the jacket did have a nice 3L Goretex shell). The Powderbowl got eliminated because I like the flex of the Snowshot fabric better, the collar was more comfortable, and the appearance was better. I think either of the Patagonia jackets would be a great choice though. From my research, the performance of the two Patagonias should be very comparable, with the H2NO of the Snowshot being very slightly less breathable and slightly less durable. I couldn't find any durability or breath-ability complaints though. I'm planning to use this shell with a Patagonia Nano Air jacket, Mountain Hardwear fleece, and Under Armor baselayer. I've also got a Patagonia Down Sweater Vest for the coldest days. Jackets that didn't make the cut: -Marmot Spire: bad collar design, too stiff, bad pockets -Patagonia Powderbowl: slightly worse collar -Outdoor Research Hemispheres: too expensive and hood didn't fit my helmet -Patagonia Departer: didn't have a good blue color -Patagonia Insulated Snowshot: didn't want to go insulated. Didn't have a blue color. -Patagonia Insulated Powderbowl: didn't want to go insulated. Didn't have a blue color. -Outdoor Research Fortress: bad collar design and didn't want the insulation -Outdoor Research Skyward II: bad collar design -Helly Hansen Alpha 3.0: poor durability and non-existent support -Helly Hansen Alpha Lifaloft: poor durability and non-existent support -Arcteryx Macai: too expensive and didn't want the insulation

May 22, 2019Hell of a Shell
I ordered this on a whim looking for a shell ski jacket and ended up with a cloak of ski shredding wonderfulness. It's a men's fit but I liked the color so much and it was on sale so I can attest to a unique fit. It's snug on the hips but otherwise fits great. I loved it so much on the slopes that I use it as my primary shell for backpacking and general wear. Light enough for typical… read more rainy days so I pair it with a down jacket when it's chillier.

May 19, 2019Always good
Bought this for a friend and he loves it. Says it's the best snowboard jacket he's ever had. Quality is great and the jacket is great at keeping out the elements.

January 14, 2019Excellent Shell -minus the vents
I love this shell as it is VERY wind and water resistant. On a warm day I snowboard with just this and a T-shirt. When its cold I pair it with a down jacket. I highly recommend this item and I think the only improvement to be made would be adding mesh to the vents. I like ventilation but I'd prefer some sort of barrier against snow if I were to fall and have some come through. It… read more is certainly worth the money given the fact all Patagonia products have a lifetime warranty.

December 1, 2018Love it!
This is an all around amazing jacket. It feels a lot like a shell, but still is warm enough. It has a more loose freeride fit which makes it easy to layer beneath. Super good construction with the pocket design and all. All in all, I love this thing!

January 21, 2018Great Shell
This is an awesome shell jacket. I've had trouble finding a shell that fits well length wise. This is the perfect length and fit with room for layering. I have only skied twice with it, but I have been impressed so far.

December 13, 2017The best in 2L!
Went for the snowshot this year because I have had plenty of success wearing 2L in lightweight mountain west snow (probably would've gone something 3L if I was spending the winter in Tahoe or the North West) , and have yet to be disapointed! Have had the opportunity to test in heavy, wet snow conditions

October 14, 2017Nice, heavy weight shell. Fits big
I love this jacket, but it had to go back. It's huge. Previous reviewer agrees (baggy fit) and I'm not a "baggy fit" dude. But for some reason BC summary says "fits small." Nice materials. Big pit zips, nice zippers, good pocket layout. Minus 1 star because it's treated, not Gore-tex. BUT... it fits like a huge potato sack. At 5'9" and 175. I'm pretty reliably a Medium- 40R suit… read more coat off the rack, every time. I'm a little beefy by adventure sport standards so some M t-shirts fit me like a sausage casing. But I'm swimming in this jacket. I know it's a "layering piece" but I could put on 8 bulky sweaters under this thing. With my luck the small will be too small. Hopefully not.

March 6, 2017Well Thought Out Jacket for the Money
I picked up a Snow Shot jacket on sale on a whim as my old ski jacket was 10 years old and I was heading for a long weekend of skiing. The pocket layout is perfect, with a chest pocket for a map, a stick of lip balm and anything else you may need to get quick access to. The hand warmer pockets are great as they are not vertically oriented so stuff doesn't fall right out, which… read more is nice if you forget to zip them up all the way up. I generally wear Large in Patagonia jackets, and this one runs a tad on the large side. Definitely on the free ride side length-wise. However, its really just a shell with mesh lining so the extra room is needed for layering when the temps drop. I was good to go with just a base layer for a 28-30 degree day and only felt a little chill after the clouds rolled in and the sun was going down. I threw on a R1 fleece for a colder snowier day that was between 20-25 degrees, but popped the pit zips to regulate temps when skiing hard. My only criticism is the powder skirt hands a bit low and is a little looser than I'd like. Overall, I'm very happy with the jacket as an all-around ski jacket.

February 12, 2017Excellent Garment
I wear this with the pant pairing of the same name, and find them to make a great 50/50 resort/touring kit. Im not one to break the bank on outerwear, as I go through it quickly, but am very pleased with the features offered, as well as its waterproofing, freeride oriented cut, and clean aesthetics.

February 7, 2017Great Jacket
Bought this jacket recently and have been very happy with it. It performed great in heavy, wet snow in Wyoming. This is a roomy jacket. I was able to wear a base layer as well as a flannel underneath and still had plenty of room. I'd even say the jacket fits a bit large. Despite being in soaking wet conditions my layers stayed mostly dry other than when I unzipped my jacket… read more to change my tunes. On that note, the selection of pockets on the Snow Shot is TOP TIER. A convenient media pocket, a goggle pocket, two big zipper pockets in the front of the jacket and they're all roomy. Mobility was great when maneuvering around in the jacket, the powder skirt is effective and comfortable. The highlight of this jacket for me is its breathe-ability and pocket options. Patagonia pretty much hit this one right on the nose. The jacket serves its purpose as a piece of gear that can handle a variety of weather conditions on the mountain while remaining breathable, and with a reasonable price tag.

January 3, 2017Love this Jacket
I picked this up this year for the ski season here in Utah. So far so good! This jacket is a shell more than an insulating layer. I have always skied with layers so it works quite well for that, and I would say that it runs true to size, however I am one of those skiers who likes things to hang loose (however not too loose, not like one of those baggy park skiers). I think Patagonia… read more uses some very high quality fabrics in their garments, and they definitely serve their purpose. This jacket has some great large pockets in the front on either side, and then a great goggle carrying pocket on the inside which I love because I ski with a hat quite frequently (I know I am sorry) but when I put my goggles on my hat they fog up quite quickly, so the goggle pocket is key for me. This jacket is super nice and durable so far I've put over 15 days in with it, and haven't seen any wear or tear, and I ski all over the mountain as well as the backcountry. I would definitely recommend this jacket to friends and family. My one hesitation about it is that it isn't an insulating layer and doesn't have the thumb holes with a light liner like a lot of my previous jackets, but so far so good, and I am excited to keep using it in the future.
