Patagonia Micro Puff Insulated Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale

If your trip or spring expedition runs the risk of getting wet, then the Patagonia Micro Puff Insulated Jacket can effectively insulate you while you hunker down in a tent to wait out the rain or freak June snowstorm. The power of the Plumafill insulation becomes apparent in cold and wet climates, because it can still lock in your body's warmth when wet, but it also dries quickly and can easily compress and fit into your alpine pack. But thanks to the water- and wind-resistant recycled polyester shell, you don't have to worry about sprinkles or heavy flurries slowing down your alpine travels.

Light but warm!!

I have used this jacket multiple time belaying on chilly mornings or as a nice touring shell. It keeps the warmth in with out all the weight, it is super comfortable yet put together nicely. This jacket will get the job done!

This Thing is Light

The warmth to weight ratio on this jacket is truly astounding. I haven't used the jacket too much yet, but it has kept me warm this fall as temperatures were dropping and it has provided a very warm layer under my shell coat this winter already. When I first tried it on, I had my doubts as to how well this light jacket would keep me warm, but I was quickly surprised at how warm read more and how comfortable it was. This jacket has definitely earned a place for itself on my backpacking trips and I hope it keeps keeping me warm and surprising me as I continue to use it.

Micro Puff for the Win

If there's only one good thing that has come out of my 2020 year, it's this jacket. The Micro Puff is super light, impressively windproof and packs the heat. This sucker is my new go-to jacket when I'm headed anywhere in the mountains, as well as around town. Its weight and pack size makes it ideal for any adventure. I was skeptical while I was unpacking the jacket... My main read more concern was warmth. Would this mid-layer jacket pack the heat for the price point? Those worries quickly dissipated after putting it to the test in the Wasatch range. Not only was I happy with the Micro Puff, but it honestly blew away my expectations. The Plumafill insulation is beyond impressive. It has the feel of a down without the worry of losing heat or the fill clumping when wet. Patagonia has outdone themselves again! In a world of layers, this one get's a gold star in my book. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Adventure Jacket

This jacket has quickly become my go-to adventure jacket, being light enough to store easily in a pack but still having ample warmth. I was blown away by how windproof this jacket was, having used it on a windy hike and a cross country ski. It also repelled the light snow well without soaking through. In addition to being great for adventures it works just as well for walking the read more dog or shoveling. The fit and sizing is standard Patagonia, with a bit more of an athletic fit which I prefer. Another stellar jacket by Patagonia, and one I would recommend to anyone looking for a versatile light adventure jacket.

Versatile

I'm pretty stoked about this jacket and the adventures we will go on. Having multiple Patagonia jackets in the closet this has become a go-to. From just around town to walking the pup on the trails. This jacket has kept me warm. Pockets seem to sit a little higher which isn't my favorite and why I deducted a star. Other than that the fit is pretty similar to other Patagonia jackets read more but a tad bit smaller. not enough that I would recommend sizing up. Holy Moly is this thing light!

maybe the most versatile?

Picking my favorite Patagonia puffy is kind of like choosing my favorite Charlie's Angel--pretty much impossible?! But as much as I love my Patagonia Down Jacket and Nano Puff, the new Micro Puff may be the most impressive and versatile puffy in the Patagonia line up. It holds its own as an outer layer in cool to cold weather, packs down small, and fits great under a shell. But read more the jacket's weight to warmth ratio is borderline ridiculous. The Micro Puff more or less matches the insulation of down. As a synthetic, however, it's better than down in wet weather and for high output winter activities that might swamp a jacket with sweat. I'll keep wearing my other Patagonia jackets--they look great and have never disappointed me. But the Micro Puff may be my pick when I'm after light weight, packability, and exceptional warmth to weight. It's a solid pick, especially if you live and play where the winter weather tends to be more damp than dry (which makes down jackets a riskier option). Patagonia isn't just for pretty people. This jacket is a good fit for my (less than sleek) physique and a high performance piece for those of us who like to play outside in all four seasons.

Really Nice and Warm!

This jacket has been great! I use it casually and as a cold weather mountain biking jacket. My only issue with the jacket is that the collar is a little high for my tastes but if you don't zip it up all the way it doesn't bother me.

Micro puff praise

This jacket is a great go-to jacket for any fall or spring activity. Looks great walking around town or for a quick trad climb. I found myself wearing this jacket for a wide variety of activities. I never got too hot in the jacket. They did a great job making the jacket lightweight without compromising on the warmth factor.

This cotton jacket is awesome

This cotton jacket is awesome. It is the lightest cotton jacket I wear. Despite its light weight, it is very warm and feels very hot to wear. Patagonia is a great and outstanding company. I hope to create more outstanding products!

Ski Backpack Essential

As a big mountain ski coach I find myself standing still on the mountain during competitions and line scouting for long periods of time (anywhere from -5 degree F days to 25 degree and windy days). On the flip side there are times I am hiking for long periods of time. I needed a light weight, ultra pack-able, toasty warm jacket that I could pack away or throw on at a moments notice. read more The Micro Puff was perfect for what I was looking for. Throw it on for the cold and take it off for the elevated heart rate stuff. I am 6'2 175lbs, normally go large in patagonia, but I size up in the slim fit jackets for layering and extra room, so I got an XL in the Micro-puff. I like the collar style for on the mountain and fighting the winds when they whip but can get a bit annoyed with it when I'm not on the mountain in this jacket. One thing it is missing is a cinch on the waistband. That would be nice for when the snow gets real deep and some extra pinch would be nice. Off the mountain, I occasionally wear it to and from work and around town, but have other jackets I prefer for my other outdoor activities. Because the micro puff is such a warm jacket I find myself wanting to wear more breathable airy jackets when I'm "out on the town". Overall, this is the perfect jacket to keep in the ski backpack when you need to warm up in a flash and be able to pack tightly out of the way when not in use! Take-aways: Extremely warm for its size and weight, Packable, Comfortable, Slightly stuffy when weather is warmer/not breathable, Handles the elements without loosing any warmth/integrity!

XL-size dad bods beware

2 stars only for the fit of the XL-size jacket on me, specifically. to help the other human giants, i'm a 44XL in a suit jacket, 17.5/36 dress shirt, 38 waist. i saw other online reviews that mentioned how the fit seems different, but i've owned other patagonia jackets (down sweater, better sweater jacket, snap-t pullovers), so i ignored them. tag says XL and regular fit, but read more not for me at 6'5" with a wicked dad bod - you know, basically athletic but soft in places. sleeve length and jacket length were fine, but the jacket was tight on my body with no hope for more than a t-shirt or baselayer underneath. i could have made peace with the athletic fit ( i have an arcteryx atom s-something that i like in a slimmer cut), but the collar was too tight to zip up completely and be comfortable. i exchanged for a XXL. the good news is, i had a wonderful customer service experience facilitating that exchange. thumbs up, backcountry!

Love the Patagonia puffy!

I've had many puffies over the years and I always come back to this one. Having synthetic insulation for warmth and being water resistant you have a great combination. It compresses like down, great to throw in a pack and have that cold weather backup. Great mid layer or light town jacket. Very versatile, well-made and looks good enough that I can wear it out on the town.

Better than Down

This is an awesome layering piece for the person that is always active. It will keep you very warm, (also when wet) its lightweight and packs away super small. The best thing about this jacket is the Plumafill which is synthetic insulation that literally imitates down plumules. So you are getting the same level of warmth that you would get in down, in a lighter, more compressible read more package. uhh... win-win? I think so.

Good value & performance for a synthetic

Grabbed two of these on sale last year and they quickly became a standard staple during the winter. Bought one in XL to layer under, and one in L to layer over depending on the conditions and activity. Found myself relying on the L size under my Arc`teryx Beta AR as a perfect combination to fend off the slop and chill while hiking down into single digits and wind. Decent read more combo for wearing around town too as the Micro Puff has nominal bulk. Took the XL size running with a light layer underneath. Proved a good bit too warm down into the 20F range without pit zips for venting. Pared down the layers next time around and found the Micro Puff was still a good option for bumping down the pavement. Very wind proof by itself. Allows me to let the down parka hang in the closet and stay in better shape for more demanding conditions. Hard to beat for the performance and value.

I've been away..

I haven't really looked at synthetics for about 20 years, but wanted something to layer under a shell that won't take on water like my down jackets. Wow, this thing is awesome. Also impressed with the light but warm feel when wearing into town alone. The down stays in the closet these days.

Great jacket

The Micro Puff jacket is a warm and comfortable jacket in temperatures down to 20 F. I like the soft feel and loose comfort of the Large. I tried the Medium but the sleeves were too tight. I am 5'11", 175 lbs. I have the down jacket (L) but I bought 2 of these to wear around town.

An Excellent warm jacket.

I started wearing this jacket upon receiving it last week, and I love it. It was what I had expected it to be; it's very warm and cozy to wear when it's cold outside. The material of this jacket is very soft on the inside, and is very well made. I'm about 5'7" tall and about 155 lbs., and a size small was perfect on me. There's ample room for a base layer or even another mid-layer read more under this jacket. It's a great buy and worth every penny even if you pay full price, which I didn't. I highly recommend it. You will not regret it..

like a warm shot of wiskey!

this jacket looks nice and is super warm! did i mention this was a warm cozy jacket! i'm 5'7" on with shoes and 170 lbs and i bought a medium...it is a snug fit and i don't know how much layering i could do in it....so if you want loose fit size up. haven't had the chance to wear this jacket in the rain, so i don't know how dry or warm it will keep you. oh...did i mention that read more the minute you put this jacket on you feel the warmth.

Ok...but I will pass

Pretty nice but not quite right. Fit was ok but not the same as my nano puff. The outer material was definitely thicker and did no have the quilted look like the nano puff. I think the outer fabric made it less useful as a layering piece. I would go nano. Sleeve cuffs were also weird. Half just fabric an half with a little plastic reinforcement. I have attache a pic. Just didn't read more make sense to me.

is there a synthetic fill equivalent to down? This jacket appears to be 65g plumafill , what would that be in down measurement?
