great alternative to heavier down jacket

Lots of praise for the micro puff has been given already. despite the super light weight and small compressed size, it's surprisingly warm. I was fine with a base layer and micropuff in 14 degree temps. the minimalistic design with elastic on hood and cuffs is lightweight and fits great. one must be careful to not damage the thin exterior fabric. I wore an over jacket when hauling read more wood at camp. lightweight down jackets are great, but this is so light weight and easier to launder - highly recommend

Great lightweight jacket

Nice for hiking and any other outdoors activity... It small and light when you need to pack it and big in warmth when you wear it! The temperature can drop in the low 30s and a long sleeve t-shirt and this jacket is plenty enough to keep you warm. It instantaneously became my favorite jacket for the fall and will, for sure, become a must layer this winter. Love it!

Amazing

I was skeptical at first but after using it a few times I was converted. Yes it is a bit costly but this thing is amazing. It keeps you warm yet you never overheat. Most importantly it is like you wear absolutely nothing. I wear it around the house as well that's how much I love it. Once I fell asleep in it :) The other thing is the maintenance - I washed it around 10 times already read more and let me tell you - it looks like new. It is a bit baggy on me in Large - I am 6 feet tall and 189lb roughly, if you prefer slightly fitted go with Medium. Amazing, already iconic Patagonia item. If it was on sale I would buy another one but for now I ll try to save the one I have. Thnx Backcountry.

A must have!!

I absolutely LOVE this jacket. Bought it for my extended backpacking trip through Chile and Argentina, which included two months in Patagonia. This was the perfect jacket for this trip - excellent for layering or on its own. Its practically weightless and packs down small. Also, it dries quickly and doesnt seem to get smelly. Love the interior pockets as well. So happy with it I read more may buy another since i really put this one “through the wringer”. **I’d order a size up to have the option for layering since theyre a slim fit

My most versatile jacket (Period)

The title is a BIG claim and I usually do not write reviews. But, with this jacket, I had to. I lost my mountain hardwear ghost whisperer jacket on a bus in Spain. My wife and I were in Europe for an ultra bikepacking race across the Pyrenees, so I needed a jacket. I decided on this jacket. The jacket is not as warm as my mountain hardwear ghost whisperer but it is far more read more versatile. The jacket packs down small and is very light weight. I wore the jacket during the Pyrenees race cycling over cols in the middle of the night. I used the jacket as my sleeping bag on the side of a dirt road in Spain, during the race. I wear it daily commuting to work on my FAT bike. I wore it during my successful attempt of the Rapha Festive 500 in Colorado (A challenge to cycle 500k between Christmas and New Year’s), where temperatures dropped to -14f. I wear it skinning in the backcountry and up the resorts early in the mornings. I unzip it going up and just zip it up when skiing down. This is an amazing jacket for those who are always moving. I think I would need more if I were sitting around in the cold. But, why would I do that? ;-) Sorry, no photos......

Great all around versatile jacket

I absolutely love this jacket and found myself wearing it more often than not. The lightweight and packability capabilities of the jacket are insane and it still keeps the chill off when it is a bit cold outside. In the Utah weather I would need something warmer. Great for your average activities like hiking and cycling in the fall! The design is awesome with a limited amount of read more seams to keep the jacket into few pieces. Would recommend for weather 48 degrees and up.

As good if not better than I expected

I've been waiting to upgrade my old hooded Nano Puff it's worn out and I finally bought the micro puff which I've been eye-ing since the release of it. I love it. It's crazy light even compared to an already light Nano puff, but I noticed that my arms are much warmer in the micro.. I usually wear a t-shirt even in the upper teens - 20s.. no issues. The pockets are different read more they probably are an upgrade so your stuff doesn't fall out because they are deep but it's weird compared to the Nano if you walk with your hands in your pockets. I bought a L and the fit is essentially the same as the Nano, the hood is different but it's an upgrade. I'd buy a Nano puff again but I think the upgrade to Micro is worth the extra $$$.

Packable, lightweight and warm

This is the type of jacket you should always have stuffed into the bottom of your backpack. Comes in handy during the winter and summer, or whenever you need a little extra warmth in the great outdoors. You can use it as a pillow when backpacking/camping and it stuffs into its own pocket and stuffs really small. This adds the perfect amount of warmth when you summit a mountain read more and need to add a layer for the hike down.

Very light and stuffable

I tested this jacket on a chilly fall weekend in the desert, with temperatures in the low 20's. Despite how light it is, this jacket packs a punch of warm straight to the heart. Its soft, compact-able, and stylish. Very satisfied with this Patagonia.

Amazing Warmth/Weight Ratio

I like this item because it is a revolutionary piece in the insulation world. Patagonia worked for 10 plus years to come up with a synthetic fill that performs/acts like down. It’s lighter and has an incredible warmth/weight ratio. It’s an ultimate expedition piece and is a go to for most alpinist out there. use the Micro Puff for a variety of different uses, general read more around town purposes (like errands) or I use it while I hike, or backpack, as well as for cold days out on the slopes. I have a lot of friends who bring it with them climbing as well. The Micro Puff because it is a game-changer, and for a 9.3 ounce garment the weight to warmth ration is pretty much second to none.

Great layering piece, or jacket for fall

I love using the Micro Puff for backpacking, and camping trips. It's super lightweight, durable, and the hood adds some extra warmth for keeping cozy while sleeping in chilly temps or around the campfire.

Neck Zipper

This jacket is warm, the color is great, but once you zip all the way up the stiff zipper jabs into your neck under your chin. Very uncomfortable, it's also too tight in the neck as well. I wanted to love this jacket as it's super warm and light weight, but the neck zipper is just horrible and uncomfortable. Fix the neck and this jacket would be perfect. As is it's unwearable, read more I had to return it.

Super Warm & Light

I wore this jacket for the first time on Mt. Baker. It is super warm and weighs nothing. I consistently needed less layers than my teammates and the interior pockets are perfect for gloves, snacks, etc. Only one complaint... the zipper seems to have a tendency to stick a little.

Great Puffy

Im super stoked about this jacket! It is great for keeping you warm sitting around the campfire and as a mid layer for winter layering. I love the hood and zipper that zips up just under my nose for those super bitter cold days.

Micro puff

This is a good jacket but don’t kid yourself, it’s not as warm as a down jacket. Good for active events.

Puff Jackets for life!

The Micro Puff Hooded Jacket is fantastic. I have used Nano Puffs for years and really love the lightweight functionality of the Micro Puff. It is very lightweight and small while still providing plenty of warmth. It is a great mid layer when its really cold and functions very well on it own.

super light weight and warm

defiantly one of the lightest jackets I have ever used. Stitching on the outside is a little different so if you want something a little more regular go with the nano puff.

Great warmth to weight piece

Really like this jacket, it is just as warm as my nano puff, with a lot less weight. My only slight concern is durability, it is definitely a piece to be mindful of what is contacting it, or to have a shell over. Keep your ice tools and screws away from this one and all will be good. It makes a great mid layer in my opinion and is lighter than a Nano Air, but not as breathable.
