Patagonia Houdini Jacket - Women's reviews and deals for sale

For practically weightless weather protection on your next run, hike, or climb, bring along the Patagonia Houdini Jacket. It's easy to pack down and throw in pack, a pocket, or on a harness, and keeps you protected from whipping alpine winds and light precipitation. Now made with a completely recycled nylon ripstop that blocks the wind at an ultralight weight, this jacket also features a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating that'll shed light rain, moderate snow, and whatever mild precipitation you can manage to find in the mountains. It's got an adjustable hood that gives you snug protection against the wind with just a single pull, and a chest pocket for quick gear storage that also doubles as a stuff sack when the weather calms down. Quick ventilation comes to you by way of a full front zipper, while the reflective logo patch ensures visibility when you're sneaking in a sunset run after work.

Superlight, water repellent, runs small

I absolutely love the jacket, lightweight and windproof. Not to be waterproof but I am ok with that. I usually go with a medium in Patagonia, but this jacket runs really small. If you have curves, definitely size up!

Running jacket

Loved the color and the specs on this jacket when I bought it to run in. It was lightweight and waterproof, but the see through fabric was a disappointment for me, I returned it and bought something else.

Convenience

Bought my sister this as a gift, she can't say enough about the versatility. It packs so small that it's always with you when you need it, light but warm and the teal/orange color is great for her funky style.

Just as good the second time

I had the Houdini jacket, but it was getting a little snug (by no fault of the jacket) so I decided to try something new and purchased The North Face Cyclone 2 jacket. I loved that the Cyclone had regular pockets and I thought I liked the material better, but then I threw on my partner's Houdini and was reminded how amazing the Houdini is - so light-weight, not too crunchy, a nice read more fit - so I ordered my second Houdini and all is well with the world again. It's a perfect ultra-light layer to block wind or a light drizzle and packs down to almost nothing.

Light weight and breathable

This is super lightweight, and I love that it's breathable, too. I bought this for road bike rides, so I can make it super small, and it's wonderful for rides down the canyons when it's a little chilly.

I love this jacket!

I bought this jacket a couple months ago and LOVE it! It's super convenient (and small) to throw in your purse or an extra bag, so you are always prepared. I always get complaints when I wear it. I get even more compliments when I pull it out of my tiny purse, to where when it's raining or even provide a bit of warmth when I'm in a cold restaurant. It is pretty light and perfect read more for NC summers.

Seems pointless until you own it

Why do you want a tissue paper jacket, you might ask, which is why you are reading this review. I thought it was dumb but everyone loved them so I got one. I use it primarily for trail running and love it. It is an amazing jacket for descending! I would be the perfect temperature on the way up, and until this jacket, I was always a little cold descending, but not anymore. Would read more totally recommend for any situation where you're descending, or will encounter very misty and windy conditions. I've never brought with me and not had it be worth it. I got the sherbet and vjosa and I kept the Vjosa because it looked better with my colors (blonde, fair, yellow-toned).

Lives up to the hype

There is a reason this is one of the most well-known jackets on the market! It's super light, breathable, warm and keeps the wind off! Perfect outer layer for biking on cooler days. Also fits inside a water bottle so no space is wasted!

perfect packable jacket

This jacket is awesome! It packs down incredibly small so that you can bring it along on any outdoor activity without taking up much space - fits in my camelbak or small fanny pack. It's the perfect thing to have along when the temp might drop, you're moving along a windy ridgeline, or even a really light rain cloud rolls through. Fit as expected

One Windshirt to Rule Them All

The Houdini is surprisingly warm for how lightweight it is--especially in wind. Add in that it packs down to the size of half a banana AND has water resistance and you have the jacket that makes all those ones the elves and humans and dwarves have seem a little superfluous. This is my second Houdini, I have an older one in the purple (no hood) that I've been using for years. It's read more my go-to for backpacking, biking, running, or whenever I want to pack a jacket that takes up less space in my purse than my wallet does. It's in great shape. In fact, such great shape that I really don't need a new windshirt. But I wanted one in black so I could look snappy in downtown Seattle instead of the obvious cyclist-trash that I am (my hair looks like this because I biked here). They've really upped their game on the water resistance too. I tested it out the other day, biking thirty minutes in light rain. I could see water beading on the sleeves and rolling off and I was 90% dry on arrival. Nice work for a 3oz bit of fancy nylon. I went one size up so I can layer under it for backpacking. And, not that vanity is really the crux for technical gear, but the Houdini turns out to be the most flattering jacket I own. I always end up loving the photos when I wear it on any adventure. All my thumbs up.

Wind Power/Micro Green print jacket

As unlikely as it sounds, I've never purchased a 'wind-breaker' jacket in the past. I just never thought one would be useful. I was in for a pleasant surprise. I love this versatile and attractive light-weight jacket. It is perfect for windy San Francisco weather. I often wear it over a fleece top on cool days and nights. It packs down to almost nothing for traveling, too. read more I typically wear a petite size, so this regular size is a bit long, but it is so cute and useful that I kept it.

AMAZING

Why did I not buy one of these 5 years ago?! Seriously this jacket is amazing! I wore this on my run the other day when the weather was questionable, it kept me warm from the blustering foothill winds near the canyon entrances, and it actually kept me dry on the last 5 minutes of my run when it started raining! When I started to get warm up about half way through, I pulled up read more the sleeves and they actually stayed up, and when it got colder at the end, I cinched down the hood to protect my ears. I love how small this jacket packs down into its pocket, this is going to be coming with me on all my backpacking and hiking trips this summer for sure. I got the black color so that I could easily wear it everyday and look nice, and its been the perfect coverage for spring weather.

Absolutely Worth It

This is the perfect little jacket for any windy occasion! I originally bought it for running and hiking but I have used it for so much more. It is nice when you are by a lake and it gets windy, or just walking around town. This little jacket does great to fend off wind and keep you feeling warmer no matter what you are doing. It is also a nice bonus that it packs up so small! The read more Rain Fern Multi/Classic Navy is super cute, and I have received lots of compliments on it. The jacket fit me great and true to size. I got my regular size and it has room to layer under it. The material is very thin but it performs well. The only pocket is the chest one, which is my only down fall to this jacket. I wish it had hand pockets.

Was too small around the hip for me

Nicely made, nice fabric - just did fit me. Is a more slim fit and I'm a more curvy gal. :)

More like a cape than a Jacket

It's perfect for raining weathers like Costa Rica's. The material is more like a cape than a Jacket. This means probably won't work on cold weathers or at night.

Packs up so small!

I needed a wind breaker. That's it. Something that I can leave in my pack all the time so it needed to be small. This is it! I bought a medium though I am normally a small so that it could fit over layers. It packs up so small and yet offered the protection I want. Wish it had a side pocket but that is probably a compromise I have make to keep it small.

Game Changer

Here's a photo of this jacket during a backpacking trip in the Uinta Wilderness Forest last month! It was really handy during periods of high wind as we climbed ridges and increased in elevation. The lightweight structure and breathabilty makes this a perfect active jacket. Check out my more detailed review below!

yaaa

I've been wearing this as a shell over the Patagonia capilene base layer when working as a bike messenger on wintry days. That combo is perfect for staying warm without getting too sweaty, which is a really hard balance to find. Feels so thin, but is incredibly effective. Packs up really small so I can keep it in my bag when not in use without taking up space. The only downside read more is the lack of front pockets (only has a small, zippered breast pocket) but it's the most functional windbreaker I have had in every other aspect, so whatever. The black is dark and sleek and looks very nice. Bought a medium and have room for layers underneath without looking/feeling bulky.

Easy pack-able jacket

This jacket is awesome for any outdoor activity. If it randomly gets windy or chilly, this thing fits anywhere and you can just pop it out and put it on. Awesome riding jacket and can fit in your pocket.

Great top

I bought this jacket for my wife. She said that he jacket fits great when wearing it, and packs up super small when she is not using it. It isnt as waterproof as a rain coat, but keeps wind and light rain away. She carries it whenever there is a chance that i'll end up slightly cold during a run/bike.
