Patagonia Down Sweater Hooded Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale

Stow Patagonia's Down Sweater Hooded Men's Jacket inside its chest pocket on your next backpacking trip, high-elevation climb, or midwinter ski trip—just be sure to let it out regularly so its plush 800-fill Traceable Down insulation retains its soft loft over time. Patagonia's Traceable Down comes from non-live-plucked and non-force-fed geese; a fact that's been third-party-verified. To enhance its green status, Patagonia made the shell out of a recycled polyester ripstop that's light, windproof, and water-resistant thanks to a DWR finish.

Patagonia updated the Down Sweater with a more contoured fit that's longer for better coverage on cold camping trips. At a single pull, the hood cinches comfortably and securely around your head, and the hem and both cuffs help retain the down's wonderful warmth. Patagonia also added two zippered handwarmers and a zippered internal chest pocket that doubles as a stow pocket when it's time to head back home.

Amazing Jacket! As expected!

Bought this for my husband for Christmas. I have the same jacket in a different color. It's a light weight, warm jacket that packs well. Best uses include: light hiking, sitting by the camp fire, chilly mornings heading into work. My husband is 6'1" 185 lbs athletic build and the large fits perfectly. He loves the hood option as well.

Short Lived Jacket

This jacket was great for about 1 year. It was light, kept me warm , and had reasonably good features. After 1 year, it started leaking from several locations in the back. I didn’t find a way to repair it, so I threw it away. $300 for a jacket that only lasts 12 months isn’t a good deal in my book. I don’t recommend this jacket.

Long-term Review

Some reviews are hours or days after they bought it. This is a one-year review. Overall the cut of the jacket is great. So are the features. Really comfortable and looks good. Unfortunately durability is pretty poor. The DWR finish wore off much more quickly than other garments. The down flattened out to a point where the jacket isn't very warm. Most concerning is the wear and read more tear from everyday movements. The pockets are positioned in a way that the zippers cut into the sleeves. After the first few months, I had several long tears on the inside of the sleeves. Now, it catches a few times every time I wear it. Was a good buy for about 12 months. Would not buy again.

Great jacket

I’ve mostly used this as a layer under a torrent shell. Great jacket for out in town or on a nice, well maintained trail but I wouldn’t wear it through thick brush, it won’t fare well. If you want a work jacket, get a carhart! I love mine, works a little well in the cold, I often find I need to remove it. Get it sized to fit and it will serve you well.

Far from warm

This jacket is far from warm. Wore it in 35 degree weather to walk the dogs and felt the cold within 5 minutes.

Still Cannot Believe How Good This Is

I've been searching for a warm pack-able jacket for some time. I finally decided to pull the trigger and order this jacket. It arrived quickly, in 2 days, in a small box that seemed empty. The box was so light that I thought for sure that the jacket will not keep me warm. I've used it twice in NJ in high 20 to low 30 degree weather. WOW! Was I wrong - easily the best jacket I ever read more owned. Kept me very warm , even with a cold wind blowing all day.

Good Fit, Great Quality, Great Style

This is an exemplary jacket from Patagonia's line up. The first thing that struck me about the jacket when I put in on is the fit, the size runs a bit smaller then Columbia or Northface jackets, i.e. more mainstream brands. That is typical Patagonia though. I actually prefer a snug fit because it keeps you warmer during the winter by not allowing a air pocket between you and the read more layer. The quality is quintessential Patagonia, the outer material doesn't feel like it would hold up to rips and tears well. However for the daily commute it works awesome! I don't use the jacket as a backpacking jacket but the down is super pack able (I checked!). I love the color and overall look of the jacket, while its slightly bulkier then the Synthetic version of this coat it looks very similar. Which is a good thing! Overall the style and warmth of the product is why I bought it, I've worn it on many cold days here in Utah and I highly recommend it for a daily wear product.

Warm and Light!

I wore this jacket during 2019 polar vortex in Midwest without any layers and it still kept me warm.

Dependable Staple

Purchased this to replace my misuse of a Nano Puff for a North East winter jacket. Pound for pound this jacket was great; perfect is any type of dry(ish) winter weather and light enough to not weigh me down during the subway ride . Used it too for winter nights is all types of climates.

From crag to class to ice

Everyone needs a good poofer in their kit, and so far, this one has performed exceptionally and in every way I hoped it would. I’ve had the jacket about a month and in that time have taken it on multiple ice climbing and snowshoeing trips. On cold trips in the backcountry it has served me well as a midlayer. On cold ice climbs, the hood keeps me cozy under my helmet. As a photographer, read more keeping batteries warm in the winter is always a struggle, but the inside zippered pocket makes it easy to keep them close to my body heat, and the size of that pocket means I can fit in a couple extra snacks or my phone as well. When it’s time to shed a layer, this is my first choice, as it packs down unbelievably well. When I’m at home, headed to class and walking around campus, this is my go to jacket. Not only does it look great, but it manages to keep me comfortable no matter the temperature, warm when it’s 20 and cozy (but not too hot) when it’s 50. I’m 6’1” and 170, and I think the large is perfect for this jacket. It allows room for layering underneath (i’ve had thermals, a synthetic long sleeve t shirt, and a fleece all underneath comfortably) yet still doesn’t look too big or baggy when wearing it with just a t shirt underneath. The material is lightweight, so just as with any puffy, I pay extra caution when hiking through dense wooded areas, and keep my shell on over it to protect from tears. This is a factor with any puffy though, so I don’t view it as a negative in this particular jacket.

GREAT MID LAYER

I love this jacket and how warm it is, perfect for rainy seattle days to keep you warm. It's also really light and highly packable. Definitely something to take from the city to the trails.

Ok for casual wear

In the beginning, jacket was awesome, very warm, stylish ,true to size. It was used for daily commuting in NY. After two months I noticed small tear on left sleeve and the down started to leak. Also I noticed another tear at the bottom of the jacket. Very short amount of time for that kind of damage, by my opinion. Next thing is a DWR finish, very inconsistent. Material used for read more this jacket is weak. Only thing I like the hood, very functional.

Awesome winter jacket

I got this as a gift for my dad, here is his feedback: This is the best winter jacket, I do not like anything super heavy and this does the trick. Sometimes I even get too hot in it! It fits true to size and well. I wore this to Amsterdam in the winter and it did great as well as looks really nice. I wear it on a day to day basis as well and have no complaints.

Perfect Puff

Great jacket for me - prinary use is bike commuting and around town. Got this plus the arcteryx beta sl hybrid and Im all set for any conditions. The nano and micro puffies are both pretty minima and until seeing them in person I didnt reaize just how minimal. If you want something lightweight but still very warm this is my pick.

I'm 5'10, 210 lbs, 36-inch waist, broad shoulders. I usually wear Large or XL in insulated jackets or shells, and I prefer a slightly loose fit (that can be cinched at the hem). What size do you recommend? thanx!

I am 5' 10" and 220lbs, 46 chest but a little big around the midsection. Should I go with XL or XXL in this jacket? Based on the sizing chart it looks like the XL would fit the chest but I'm concerned it might be snug around the torso. Should this jacket fit snug or loose?

Is this jacket sized to go over a couple other layers (Fleece and soft shell jacket) or do I need to size up to get it to fit? I'm 6ft tall and 165lbs. I wear a medium.

My husband is 5'11, 180 lbs. He would typically wear a large but his arms are disproportionate and tend to be longer for his size. As such, he usually has to buy XL. We looked at the size chart and followed the instructions but if that were the case he would wear a small (measures at 32.5 inches). Clearly, we are doing something wrong. If you have any suggestions or recommend a read more size for him that would be great! Thank you.

So I'm 6'1" and 170 pounds. Should I go with a medium or a large? I don't plan on layering much beneath the jacket.
