Great baselayer!

Bought this as a gift for my girlfriend. She gets really cold while snowboarding and said this was a nice upgrade from her previous baselayer. Really soft, cozy, and warm.

Great buy!

Love this mid layer! I thought it might be a little too thin at first, but it is so warm! I use it for downhill and cross country skiing over my base layer and it’s perfect.

Best Capilene

I absolutely love the thermal weight capilene. I find it to be much more comfortable than the mid weight fabric. It's warm but not too warm so it's actually a quite versatile piece. I personally like my base layers to be a bit on the looser side and got a medium in the quarter zip style. I wear it all winter long skiing or as a biking layer in the fall/spring on chilly rides. read more The torso and arms are on the longer side too which is a huge plus.

Now on to my second..

I wear this top so much my husband told me I needed a second so I could wear a clean one more frequently. Absolutely love this thermal top. The collar keeps my neck nice and warm when I go skiing or out for a winter run. Highly recommend this product!

Surprisingly warm but grabby fabric.

I bought these as a gift for my mom. She doesn't like bulk but also gets cold really easily. She said these (I bought the bottoms too) were really warm, especially given the light weight, but the fabric was grabby. Made sliding on the top layer hard and didn't move easily underneath.

Warm Patagonia Capilene Thermal

Initially i was worried that the fabric looked really thin and wouldn't keep me warm but I shouldn't have been, the design actually traps in heat really well. Not as warm as the Under Armor 4.0 base layer, or Smartwool crewneck thermal, but definitely still a solid thermal option. I also really like that this base layer is long in the body.

Great For Colder Temps!

LOVE this thermal shirt. It is perfect for wearing as my base layer on cold days or my only layer on crisp fall days. The thermal texturing inside is soft and gives the shirt some interest

Warm and Adorable

Initial review - Very happy with this purchase. I used to worry that Patagonia was too boxy for me but I've made a couple recent purchases (and a bunch of testing) that prove that is no longer true. I'm 5 5' and it comes down past my hips. Doesn't have thumb holes but strapes. Cons - not as soft as i hoped and the sleeves are a bit baggy in the arms but fits great everywhere read more else. Seems warm but haven't tested it out yet.

Love Patagonia

Very comfortable, i wore it biking in 45 degrees and i was cozy. I did buy this for skiing but got it after the season was over. Want a warmer base layer. I am 5'4", 150 lbs and the medium fits well. The shirt looks kinda thin, but hoping it will be good in vermont in january. I do have the capilene MW in large, kinda big without something under it. That is comfy too. Got them read more on sale, they have washed well and have no odor after wearing them. I can still layer with the medium size also. I am like a size 10-12 top.

Cozy and versatile.

Admittedly I wear this layer for just about everything. It's lightweight, yet super warm as a baselayer and keeps me comfortable as a standalone layer when I'm doing aerobic activities during warmer-cool-ish temps. The grid material wicks away moisture and dries quickly. I wear it trail running, skiing, hiking, and well, just about everything else. I purchased a small, which is read more a shade loose and not all that form fitting, but it's super comfortable. Ordinarily I wear an XS in most Patagonia items, but size up when I want a little extra room. The grid material is a shade see-thru, simply because of the fabric technology (not because of durability or a poorly made product) - this just makes the piece more breathable, not to mention its construction contributes to the moisture-wicking and quick-drying performance, and therefore makes you more comfortable. It's intended to be worn as your first line of defense, and then layered atop if the conditions call for it (i.e. really cold skiing conditions vs chilly-ish trail running conditions). If you're looking for warmth, layer this Thermal weight piece underneath a heavier mid-layer and then carry-on with your personal layering preferences.

Not perfect but pretty darn good

Likes: the fabric is really soft and warm, the cut is loose enough under the armpits and long enough for good coverage when I move and the weight is super light. It just feels darn good to wear. Dislikes: the zipper is a little heavy for the fabric and makes the collar lay funny, the lower part of the arms/wrist is waaayyy too loose and lets in cold air, and while the fabric is read more super toasty, it does let wind right through...which is sort of anti-toasty. I plan to sleep in it when backpacking so the wind won't be much of an issue

I love Patagonia!

Soft, different kind of material that makes a huge difference against skin, it is longer than expected, which is great! You can wear it over jeans in town or tuck them into your snow pants while skiing. The quarter zip is the perfect length. It’s a perfect base layer, plus can’t go wrong with Patagonia’s lifetime guarantee.

Not as hearty as expected

Just received this but was horribly disappointed when I opened it. The fabric, though fits beautifully and is soft to the skin, is thin. Super thin. You can see straight through the fabric. I must admit I was expecting something a bit more substantial, even as a base layer. The color is beautiful and the thumb loops are impeccably placed. I think I would have really enjoyed this read more product if it hadn't been so thin, but I need something I know is going to keep me warm.
