Perfect, light midlayer

This quickly became my favorite layer this spring and summer working in the desert. It provided great sun protection, great comfort, and held up well on it's 8 work day stints. I was very excited to (smell) that it didn't retain stink. I usually wear a size medium, and a medium fit well without being too tight or too loose.

Loose Fitting & Warm Baselayer

Not all baselayers have to feel shrinkwrapped to your body. This comfortable fit top makes a great warm baselayer and camp top. I love the mild waffling of the fabric which I attribute to additional warmth provided. I got the Medium and find that the thumb loops come in handy when trying to layer on top of it - not sure I need the thumb loops past that, unless I need the sleeves read more to stay in place under some gloves. I got it in Feather Grey - it's a nice change from all the dark and stormy baselayer colors that are so popular!

Super warm like the fit

I wore these to Everest Base camp. They kept me warm, but weren’t too hot during the day when the sun was blazing. Excited to wear them for lots of activities. Like the baggier fit.

Great Solid Medium Warmth Baselayer

At least medium warmth (I can get cold easily but find that this, combined with other layers strategically chosen, makes a fantastic baselayer. This polartec top has "power-grid" that's soft and lines the inside, traps body warmth yet keeps it breathable. I bought this to layer for skiing and also for winter fly fishing. LOVE IT. If you get overheated easily, you may want to read more try the Patagonia Lightweight Capilene top which does not have the "power-grid" fleece backing.

WARMM

I tried this on and automatically got warmer. I have been needing a nice mid layer and this is great. It's not super tight and it's long enough to tuck in so that it will stay in place if you like to do that. It is a little scratchy, so in other reviews I can see why it might get itchy.

Patagonia Capilene Midweight Crew Top

I bought this to wear as a baselayer while skiing. So far it has done the trick! I can wear it comfortably under my jacket on warmer days and on colder days, throwing on an extra layer does the trick. It fits well and the material is comfortable. Also love the thumb rings so the sleeve doesn't bunch up!

Best Base Layer

This is a fantastic base layer! It does a great job of keeping you warm. I wore it as a base layer while doing night photography in cold winter weather and it worked like a charm! I love the fit of it, and that it is not itchy like a lot of wool base layers. The material is soft and still has the same effect as wool layers. The shirt fit me true to size, it wasn't fitted but it read more didn't look too big on me. If you are looking for a good base layer that isn't wool I would recommend giving this product a try.

nice but kind of itchy

First, this top is much looser than other baselayers I've worn. That can be nice, but if you're looking for a skin-tight base layer this is not for you. I like how lightweight it is and the color is nice. The thumbholes are also a nice feature, though they are very basic I am kind of worried I will accidentally tear the loops off. But pretty much the only thing that I don't really read more love is the stiching on the inseams. The moment I put it on, I could feel it and it was kind of itchy. It's not that bad because the item is so light and breathy, but were it any tighter I don't think I could handle the itch. but that might just be a weird thing about me. Other than that, I think it is a good baselayer.

Quality base layer

Great base layer that wont hold in sweat and provide breathability. Good under a puffy and a shell. Can be used for cooler days biking or running, as well as skiing.

Gift

Bought this as a gift for my mother who lives in Michigan, she says she uses this as a base layer for early morning on the farm. She said she has yet to feel cold.

Smooth and itchless.

I invested in this baselayer top after I got itchy from my merino layers. This top on the other hand, is really smooth and soft, almost like an athletic top, but insulates really well. The sizing fits a little large but not so big that I would say this top is too big. It moreso seems like a performance top but definitely works as a baselayer.

Great Go-To Winter Layer

I was looking for a winter layering piece that was a bit thicker, but this shirt has actually become my go-to layer! It's really thin but traps and distributes heat well, and feels really nice against skin. I wish the bottom of the shirt fit my small frame better, but it's the typical fit of Patagonia products. I think I'll have this shirt for a long time: great for winter runs, read more hikes, and it's my sleeping shirt while camping!

Fits pretty well

I like this top. It is pretty warm and it works in my layering system. I usually wear a dry-fit t-shirt under it. I don't think it's very loose, but it's not skin tight either. I also like the thumb loops because the make it easy to keep the sleeves down as I keep layering up. I have the sulphur yellow and it's not the prettiest color, but it was on sale and I didn't buy it for read more the color.

Great for late winter skiing

I was perfectly comfortable (and totally dry!) skiing in just this plus an insulated orage coat in the 30-40 degree skiing days. The days it was colder or had a bit more wind, I added a quarter zip fleece over this. Definitely preferred this to the lightweight version for skiing - that felt way to thin.

Does not fit well

A midweight baselayer should fit almost next to skin for more adequate moisture management, and for temperature regulation. When I want to buy a midweight baselayer it is for colder temps, such as 40s at night. Generally, in these colder temps you would like to restrict air circulation around your body to maintain adequate core temperature. This baselayer fits loose, boxy, and read more the sleeves are too short for a 5'8" female with a skinny, athletic, build. I would not be able to fit this top into my current layering system due to its loose nature because the baselayer would bunch under my fleece. As a standalone shirt, this could be nice because bagginess might not matter so much to you. However, I would seriously question its ability to maintain your body's warmth.

Warm and comfy!

Got these as a gift for my girlfriend and here is what she has to say: The fit is loose and comfortable, the material is nice, and it definitely functions well for a base layer on those cold days!

Great Base layer and Versatile

I wear this long sleeve as a base layer during winter months and during the summer I often use it hiking at high elevations. Great at wicking away moisture. I have complete range of motion while wearing it. Not the softest shirt I've owned, but still very comfortable and a great technical piece. Fits true to size and is great for a wide range of activities.
