Patagonia Bivy Down Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale

The Bivy Down Jacket is a staple in Patagonia's collection of insulators. A western-inspired yoke gives a more casual style, and the water-resistant shell sheds snowfall whether you're hanging at the ski resort's parking lot or chilling in a cold campsite for the night. In keeping up with Patagonia's high standards for sustainability, the Bivy Down is made with 100% recycled fabrics and down insulation.

Great Jacket

This has been a great jacket for me this winter. I was looking for a layering jacket for under a shell and originally got the Patagonia Down Sweater, it was pretty good but weirdly tight at the bottom of it. So I switched and got this instead. Liking it a lot, it is thicker and more "substantial" than the other insulated type of jackets, much better on its own. Deducted one star read more for a couple small things that keep it from perfect. 1) the collar is just a tad too tall, keeps the neck protected but hits up at the chin a bit. 2) the zipper being backwards, not terribly annoying to me since one of my other jackets has this but still not ideal. 3) the chest pocket needs to be on the outside not inside the main zipper. Keeps items warmer, but makes it too inconvenient to ever use the pocket. Overall like the jacket, color, and quality. I am 190/32: waist and got the medium, fits perfectly.

Great Look!

I gave this jacket as a gift and have received great feedback... "The jacket looks great and is warmer than you would think. It's been in the 20's here and I feel great with the jacket around town. Makes me look like a champ!"

Warm and Cozy

I bought this coat for the winter in Michigan and so far has done its job wonderfully. I knew I would need a down jacket that was big enough to wear layers under but small enough to not look bulky and this is perfect. I have the Mojave Khaki color and get compliments on it often. It looks well with any style of outfit as well. Great buy for me, well worth the money, and i expect read more to have this for the next few winters.

Classic Rugged Down Jacket

The Bivy is ridiculously warm. It crushes wind and I’ve yet to challenge it’s lower temp limit (only been down to low 30’s with a stiff breeze so far). It’s got an extremely durable exterior but a soft cushy feel when worn. The DWR treatment is on point as well - water beads up like no other garment I’ve ever owned. Pockets have a nice fleece lining. It’s read more just super comfortable and difficult to take off once I get to the office in the early morning. It does not cinch down anywhere but that’s to be expected with a casual piece. I would highly recommend this high quality jacket.

Big and warm

This is a seriously warm jacket. When I am just cruising around town it is nice to have a jacket that is not three-layer noisy performance fabric. If you run hot like I do, you might find this to be too much except at the coldest times.

Even more awesome in person

I got the gray and camel color and it looks even more awesome on and in person. Back in the day, My dad wore a jacket just like this and I finally got one for myself! This is awesome on! Super super warm. Highly recommend.

Looks great, warm, sons loves them

Bought these for my sons for Christmas. One is a freshman at a college in Minnesota, and it's up to the challenge. The other is in Beijing for a semester, and it has been colder there than in Minnesota some days. The boys look fantastic. The jackets do the job without screaming "rich American" or "skier" or anything. I can see them using them for the next 15 years.

great style and comfort

Bought this for my son and he loves it. It is warm and stylish. The collar is a little high for his preference, but he is on the short side of average height. Although in windy conditions this is a welcome benefit...

Great deal, solid jacket

I've been looking for a jacket that's good for day hikes and general use up here in the damp and chilly Pacific Northwest. Medium is perfect for my height and swimmer's build. I can easily put a Medium Patagonia fleece underneath it, and or a Medium Patagonia Torrentshell rain slick over the top for heavy rains, although the Bivy Jacket alone sheds drizzle just fine. Very happy read more with this jacket -- it will replace my The North Face Apex soft shell without hesitation. I used to have a Medium Patagonia Down Sweater (full zip), and surprisingly those are only $20 less than this Bivy Jacket at full retail price. Arguably the Down Sweaters are better for serious athletic feats due to their packability, but for that extra Andrew Jackson I'd say you get more than your money's worth with a bit thicker puff and a very durable woven nylon outside on the Bivy Jacket. If you're in the market for the Down Sweater, think twice because the Bivy Jacket might be a better choice depending on your activities. Lastly, the left-handed zipper on the Bivy Jacket is cool, I enjoy a little ambidextrous challenge.

Great with slight issue

The jacket provides total warmth. The sleeves were slightly longer than other patagonias I've owned. I've only worn medium. Another issue was the amount of creases and wrinkles in the jacket caused by shipping I think. So I'm trying to figure how to remove that.

Excellent warm jacket. Odd zipper

This is a great jacket, puffy and warm. The jacket feels very durable. My only complaint with the jacket is the zipper is on the wrong side. It zips on the left for some strange reason and it drives me crazy. True to Patagonia sizing.

Perfect for Spring Camping!

This is the best jacket for early morning and late evening when spring camping. Very warm and comfortable and also makes a great camping pillow.

You want warm? You got it.

Imagine surrounding yourself in a cloud of warm air that contoured itself to your body. That is the feeling you get when putting on this jacket in the bitter cold. It is by far the warmest non-technical jacket that I own hands down. The durable nylon fabric feels beefy enough to stand up to anything you can throw at it, while the DWR finish slides all the precip right off the shoulders. read more The added length makes sure to keep you covered when raising your arms. It fits true to size. You can't go wrong with this classic. Cheers
