Outdoor Tech Wired Chips Universal Snow Helmet Audio Reviews

April 20, 2018Good sound. High fail rate.
The wired versions have a very high failure rate. You are better off with the wireless or even another brand all together. Outdoor tech has a lot of great products. I just wouldn't add these to the list.

January 7, 2018Nice music delivery system for skiing
I bought both the wireless and wired. Both have worked very nicely. They have nice sound and they both like the push button ear piece to pause or change songs. I have had a wired set for 2+ years and have had no problem. The only drawback to the wired is that you have to unplug them to take your helmet off without your jacket.

December 26, 2017Didn't work upon first use
I bought these as replacements for my K2 helmet speakers that broke. I used them for the first time skiing yesterday - they worked standing still, but once i got moving, they would consistently cut out every few seconds, and the volume would fluctuate on its own. Whenever I used the play/pause button on the cord or on the side of the speakers, all it would do was activate Siri,… read more no matter how quickly I hit the button a single time. Very disappointed. I was really looking forward to having a great ski day on Christmas day listening to music, and unfortunately the music was absent from that equation. Would really like my money back - total waste.

December 30, 2016Don't Waste Your Money - Stopped Working
Had these for about a year– so maybe like 2 months of use during last Winter– and they've stopped working. Only getting sound in one ear now. Of course the warranty has since expired. Fun to ride snow covered trails listening to music but not worth $40 for only a few month of use.

December 3, 2016Outdoor Tech
The Outdoor Tech wired audio speakers where a great addition to my K2 helmet, which came factory with small Thin sounding speaker and the cord cut out immediately out of the box. The Outdoor Tech speakers fit right in the factory helmets speaker pocket and the supplied cord is plenty long to route through the helmet. Speakers aren't perfect, especially for the guy used to listening… read more to $500 set of in ears, but are way better than no tunes at all. Bass is ok, the closer you can get them to your head the better. The exterior buttons on the ear piece are awesome! Used them skiing and was able to push to pause the audio with a gloved hand. They are really well priced and a good upgrade. I recommend them.

January 20, 2016Now I love skiing alone!
I really love this product; granted I've never had any trouble getting my headphones to work as some other reviewers did. I never listened to music while skiing before I got these, now I love it and I enjoy skiing alone and ignoring chatty people on the chairlifts. I found these integrated well with my helmet (Smith Variant) and is really easy to use out of the box. No bugs yet,… read more but it is the first season I've used them. I hope they last a long time!

December 14, 2015How to make the remote clip functional
The clip for the remote wasn't staying on the edge of my jacket, but it does stay when I clip it to my braid.

November 26, 2015Not so good..
Right out of the box none of the buttons worked. I thought the sound quality was poor even compared to cheap skull candy helmet compatible headphones. the volume knob is impossible to work without taking off your gloves. not much good to say. save your money and try a different set.

September 27, 2015Good...but one design flaw
OK, so the sound quality is good (enough for me...I'm no audiophile, as long as I can hear clear, crisp sound I'm happy). But there is one flaw I'd like them to address.... It's how, or where, the cable is plugged in. Once the speakers are dropped in place in the helmet (I have them in a Smith Variant) you need to dick around to get the plug into the socket. Wouldn't it have been… read more nice if there was a short extension with a female end from the wired chips so that out pokes out through the speaker compartment of the helmet. Then all you need to do it plug the (male) jack into it and you're away. I got around this by buying a $3 4 pole elbow adaptor that protrudes out of the compartment just right. Now all I need to do is plug in the cable to the elbow adaptor and I'm good Once the

Got my new wired CHIPS set up with my iPhone 6 and everything is working great! Definitely one of the better purchases I made this season.

February 27, 2015Good Sound at a Great Price
My Chips work great. I have used them a bunch of times and had no problems. The sound is good and they didn't cost a whole lot either.

February 27, 2015Solid Sound
Took these bad boys up to my local hill last weekend. At such an affordable price, I was pretty impressed with the quality. Can't complain about having hands-free tunes and phone access on the mountain.

Wanted the Wireless Chips, but saw these as a great low cost alternative. Been happy with them all season.

January 5, 2015Pure Junk
First set broke right away. Second set broke right away. Even when they did work, for a short time, they sounded like crap.

January 5, 2015Broke the second day. Garbage.
I had high hopes when getting the product, it feels like quality, it looks like quality. It is a ruse. After a single day of use, the cable started cutting off the sound to one ear piece every time it bent at the head. So switched to a standard high quality audio with male male on each side connector and by the end of the day it kept popping out every 40 minutes and my hands… read more froze messing with it all the time. I didn't think any company could have put out a product worse than skullcandy. (they at least last 2 weeks) lol failure city!

December 17, 2014Irradiated Pooh is Still Pooh!
I would love to say that I have put these through the paces, but they broke on Day 1 within the first hour of use... If I am being honest and following the review/star guidelines, the product straight up sucked! On the second run, I went to adjust the volume and the wiring broke from the connector and "NO SOUP FOR YOU." Spent a terrible snow day at the resort without tunes -… read more nothing but the scraping of edges on fake snow. Definitely disappointed as I have loved my Turtle Shell, but the Wired Chips get a suboptimal rating from me. If you are looking for an option at the resort, look elsewhere for music - Outdoor Tech gets a failing grade here - busted!

December 15, 2014Can you mute or pause by touching the discs with gloves on or do you have to use the control on the wire?

November 16, 2014I think the description for this item is the wrong one. It seems as though the description is for the wireless bluetooth version.
