Orvis Superfine Glass Fly Rod - 3-Piece reviews and deals for sale

When it comes to slow, delicate presentations on skinny streams and technical creeks, the Orvis Superfine is one of our favorite fly rods. This classic slow-action fiberglass rod has been a mainstay of the Orvis lineup for years, thanks to a design that hearkens back to the days when Royal wulffs and wet flies were all an angler needed to keep the creel full. And while the Superfine’s design can primarily be described as “old school,” it does boast a few modern bells and whistles—a silver and cork up-locking reel seat and chrome Litewire stripping guides to keep the rod light in the hand and line passing through the unsanded blank at a high speed.

Fun!!!

I purchased this rod and the #5 and they are both a hoot to cast. So much fun to make those almost effortless motions and watch the line stretch out. Admittedly, I’m an old guy, but I think anyone would enjoy this casual feel when angling.

Glass Is Not Dead

I own this rod in a 3 thru 5 wt. and it's hands-down the most fun rod I own for fishing dries. It's not going to throw tons of line with ease, but it's great for most streams I fish. The 3 and 4 wt are excellent at presenting dries and the soft, progressive flex allows you to load your rod in tight places. The 5 is a little more versatile and good for windier days. Glass rods read more make playing fish (even small ones) more fun and they are much harder to break than graphite. Unless pin-point accuracy is a must or you need to get lots of line out, these are way more practical and fun dry-fly rods.

SUPER FUN

Ever since purchasing this rod I can'€™t think of anything else I rather be doing than tossing a few bugs and a few brews back. The super fine is ideal for small creeks and rivers and close-range casting so perfect for Utah. The accuracy you get is amazing thanks to the supple slow-action taper coupled with a firm butt section makes the Superfine Glass a top-notch dry fly tool, read more however I think it could reasonably handle casting the extra weight and torque of throwing big dry flies (such as hoppers, Chernobyl ants and big stoneflies) and dry/dropper rigs. I swear I can lay a dry on a dime you feel it just going right where you want it. This rod delivers for sure and provides delicacy and allows you to fight fish with fine tippets. Love at first toss.

Great casting-fishing US made Glass

These rods are fun to cast, great to fish, helps to protect tippet and is TOUGH AS NAILS!! All made in the USA!! What a treat these rods are, not your grampa's glass rods at all. These cast well, are accurate wonderful in the short distance, but with some backbone to chunk a bigger cast for those afternoon breezes.

Glass is not dead

The Orvis Superfine is a great fly rod. It proves that glass is not old technology and doesn't have to feel like a wet noodle. This rod in the 3 wt has got backbone and really fights fish well while protecting light tippet. Orvis really made a great rod.

Super fine

I'm definitely a big fan of this fiberglass rod. It was the first and only glass rod I've ever had, so I didn't really know what to expect. I fell in love with the softness right away, the feeling was completely different than graphite. Its a joy to cast a dry fly but will also huck the meat.
