Ortovox Swisswool Verbier Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale
Waterproof and warm, there isn't much the Ortovox Swisswool Verbier Jacket can't do for you as you traverse into the trees in search of fresh tracks. The main body fabric is Pertex Quantum Pro, both highly durable and highly water resistant, and is further buoyed by a PU coating; even without a membrane, it still delivers 20,000mm of waterproof protection, keeping you dry in waist-deep powder and on storm days where refills abound. In exchange, the fabric is lightweight, breathable, packable, and soft to the touch.Ortovox filled the Verbier with rare black sheep wool sourced from the Swiss Alps. 200g in the body provides valuable core warmth, while a lighter weight 150g in the sleeves leaves you mobile and keeps you from overheating. The numerous benefits of wool include a superb ability to regulate temperature, continue to trap warmth even when wet, high breathability, and a natural resistance to funky odors.

December 17, 2020Great Jacket
Bought this jacket to use as a mid layer for very wet Olympic mountain SAR work. It has greatly exceeded expectations - warm in a wet environment, impenetrable to wind, completely functional in this environment. As is with all previous Ortovox jackets I’ve owned, details work, zippers, pockets and hood excellent with harness and helmet. Small issues - material is light, not sure… read more how it will wear over time but so far ok and I use this jacket under a shell anyway, a bit bulky to pack compared to a down jacket because of the wool insulation, but frankly the extra bulk is worth it. Great jacket!

December 29, 2019Great jacket but missing some features
This is a really good insulated jacket. I am a big fan of the Ortovox brand and love that they use natural wool in their outerwear jackets. I tested this jacket up on the Sierras in cold/snowy weather and the jacket held up very well. The quality of construction is very good and I didn't see any wool fibers or loose threads sticking out. I like the fact that the hood is insulated.… read more I wore this jacket as an outer layer for a ski run and it performed well. Here are my gripes now - It's missing a few pockets for me - i am a big fan of the "napolean" chest pocket, and inner pockets...none of which are present on this jacket. It does have a ski pass pocket which came in handy. The fit of the jacket is "regular", and you can layer pretty easily underneath. Personally, I loved the Piz Bianco jacket a lot more (even though it's missing a few features too) because it fits closer to the body and hence kept me warmer with fewer layers. In summary, the Verbier is a rock solid no-nonsense jacket that will keep you warm and dry anywhere you go. It's stylish enough to wear around town too. If you are OK missing out on a few pockets, you should seriously consider this jacket. You won't be disappointed!

July 2, 2019Super Warm!
Everything puffy jacket I have owned has either been down or synthetic insulation and I didn't have experience with wool for insulation. I take this jacket on most of my winter ski tours and it is the warmest jacket I have ever owned. I love the fact that it is a natural fabric and the weight difference is not significant between synthetic or down (for how warm this jacket is).… read more It does not pack down quite as much as the super light down puffies but with the wool, anytime it gets wet, it still keeps you warm, whereas a down puffy gets soggy. The fit is true to sizing chart and I also really like the slightly reinforced material that really helps abrasion resistance and weather protection. I really would love to see Ortovox make a sleeping back insulated with wool; I really think the insulation properties would allow you to use less material for the same warmth value. In any event, I am sold on the wool insulation and would highly recommend it to anyone who is skiing at the area or backcountry skiing; it is my go to outer insulation layer.
