Comfortable and Great Fit

The Rock'N'Wool "short pants" have been my go-to base layer bottoms since last Fall. I mainly ski, but also found myself wearing these running on cool days as well as a base layer during late season hikes/hunts. I did do a longer stint wearing these as my only base layer for 5 days in a row and I'm happy to report the wool did it's job and kept me smelling fresh. My only gripe read more is that they aren't the most durable - they've started to develop some pilling. Granted I've used them very heavily touring, resort skiing, and hiking/running but I was hoping Pros: Comfortable, like really comfortable Great length Form fitting by not too tight ROM is great Great for variety of activities where you don't want extra material in your boot Wool keeps the odors down. Great name Cons: Have started to pill after 6 months of use. So, overall I'm very happy with the Rock'N'Wool "short pants"... I wish they went a little longer without starting to pill - but the performance made up for this in my eyes.

Just works

I’ve had these for about three months, with two lift served ski days, 6 light touring days, and the corresponding number of runs through the laundry. The fit is good - rise is right (often a problem for me) and length is perfect. I haven’t had any noticeable wear yet and the warmth is on par with my other wool mid-weight pants. These replace a pair of Patagonia 3/4 wool mid read more weights, which are see-through thin at various wear points. Functionally, the Ortovox pants are the same as my old pants, and I’m hopping the knee patches give me a even more seasons of use. Stats: 6’ 3” 36” waist 35” inseam

Delicate

I wore these for 3 days in the mountain. They are pretty thin and didn’t keep me that warm. When I got home i noticed 2 holes in them. One in the crotch area and the other on my calf. I have some other base layers that I wear all the time for years and still look new. I’ve worn this for 3 days and it’s in worse shape than the one I was trying to replace it with. I really liked read more the look of them but was very disappointed in the results

Super soft and comfortable

I am 5’11” 165lbs and 30 or 31 in waist. I purchased a small bottom and it fit great. I purchased a medium top but it was too long. This fabric is soft and very comfortable. It’s not thick but is warm enough. I washed and put mine in the dryer and it did not seem to shrink at all. I like it a lot and the length is smart.

Thermal

Love these wool thermals! They fit me perfectly and keep me warm. Also really dig the colors. Only cons are a little spendy and hard to find sometimes

Great base layer!

Perfect weight and good fit all over. Slightly thicker than other wool/blend base layers I've tried. Being wool, they are not a compression fit but the XL is well tailored for me at 6'5" and 205. I've not yet had them out in the cold, but am confident based on material weight, fit, and prior experience these will serve me well on the mountain.

Oompa Loompa pants

Nice fit, cool colors: mine are orange with green knee patches. NOTE: I found these to be a bit shorter than other brands' 3/4-length pants. Usually not a problem but on very cold days, that band of skin between the top of my ski socks and the bottom of my Ortovox pants can get chilly!

My jam

So far I have worn these everywhere from snowmobiling in the Uintas to skiing Mt. Shasta and simply love them. Buy some now! Fit: It feels like a light blanket of merino wool is wrapped around me at all times. Tad long but most things are for a guy of my height. Performance: A+, from very cold to spring skiing these helped keep my body temp regulated. A better-regulated body read more temp means more energy at the end of a long day.

Awesome!

I used these on a backcountry day and they rocked! It was really nice to have them end above the boot to prevent another layer inside and possible hot spots, or bunching up just above the boot. They kept me comfortable on the skin up and warm on the way down. I can't recommend these enough!
