Ortovox Guardian Shell 3L Pant - Men's reviews and deals for sale

When the big storm finally hits and snow is blasting in your face, you need to keep your layers protected the way a ram guards a flock of sheep. Much like your ram-like instincts, the Ortovox Men's Guardian Shell 3L Pant shields you from the snow when you tour the backcountry or hit the resort, thanks to the highly breathable and waterproof Toray Dermizax EV membrane. And much like the sheep's sheep-like instincts, it's lined with comfortable and breathable merino wool. In addition to being super-comfortable and moisture-wicking, merino wool also offers thermal regulation that cools you down when you're warm and warms you up when you're cold, making this pant perfect for a range of conditions and levels of output.

This shell pant also features an innovative waist adjustment, using a system that Ortovox calls Merinoprene. The high cut back uses neoprene on the outside and merino wool on the inside to fight the cold, and a snug and secure hook-and-loop adjustment system that gives you added lumbar support for long days on the slopes. When you start to heat up there aere are zippered vents at each side for circulated airflow, and when you find the perfect pow stash you've got ankle gaiters keeping the snow out. For targeted durability you've got reinforced cuffs that protect footwear from ski edges and crampons.

Disappointing quality

Ordered these pants with very high hopes. These were by far the most expensive piece of outerwear I have ever purchased. Before I even got a chance to wear them they were falling apart in my hands. The elastic waist band ripped off the first time I sat down in them while trying on. The high waist is also very awkward. Maybe I just had a bad pair, but for $700 I would expect read more MUCH better. Very disappointing

An impenetrable fortress for your legs

These are the best hard shell ski pants I have ever owned. The high waist seems weird at first but when you take a digger in bottomless pow and get up to find that no snow has gone down your pants you will be sold. I like having four big pockets for snacks and stuff, and the gaitors stay on my ski boots even when boot packing in deep snow. I have never been wet in these pants (and read more thanks to climate change I have skied in the rain in these pants a couple times). nor have I ever felt the wind cut through them even when skiing way to fast at the resort. I have had them a couple season now and they still look and feel brand new. I primarily use them in-bounds but I have toured with them on really windy or cold days and they are not bad to tour in. They breath really well for a waterproof shell and they articulated knees make them nice to walk in. A very well rounded hardshell for skiing. I am a full time, year-round mountain guide and a member of the Ortovox North American team I received this gear to test and use.

Great pants

For a few years I was reluctant to try these pants because of the negative review that their was no belt, and the button comes undone and was made of plastic. That pants come with a unique belt that goes around your waste above your hips. It works great, keeps you warm, and you will never get snow in your pants.

All the Features in a pant

I been putting this pant through the wringer this winter and love these pants. I haven't had one issue with the snap button on these pants an another reviewer did. There are two larger cargo pockets that I put a hat for spare gloves in, an adjustable waist that double as lower back support. I haven't had one complaint with these pants. They are cut boxy.

The worst 700 dollars I have ever spent

Talk about a case of massive marketing and zero R&D! The pants have a single hollow button at the waist that's at best good for kids clothing. So every time you need to use your core (which naturally you do all the time when you ski) the button unbuttons! Just how stupid of a design is that???? Did anyone at the company even try these pants in real life???? There are no belt loops, read more and no other way to keep the pants on your waste! To make matters just a bit worse if that's even possible the pants waste line is all the way up to your rib cage, and if you use these with Ortovox jackets the jacket's snow guard is over the pants and button. So now you have to take your gloves off, and open your jacket to get to the button so you can keep your pants on! Don't waste your money!
