For lightweight protection from the elements on high-alpine adventures reach for the Ortovox 3L Ortler Jacket. It's fully waterproof and windproof to protect you from the variable conditions you'll face on speedy backcountry touring treks and high-altitude summit pushes, but it's also breathable and super light on weight, ensuring that discomfort won't play a role in your mission. The front zipper has two-way functionality so you can maintain access to a harness while still staying protected from the elements, and the helmet-compatible hood delivers that added coverage you need when whipping winds and sudden snows rear their ugly heads. To round things out you've got a chest and arm pocket that are both easy to reach with a pack or harness on.

Stretchy and Dry

This has become my go-to foul weather jacket. Its like and packable enough that I take it everywhere and I have never been wet wearing it. I like that it has pit-zips so I can regulate temperature on the go, and the hood works great over a helmet. I really like the harness/pack compatibility, it has one large chest pocket and no hand pockets. I am occasionally miffed I can put read more my hands in my pockets, usually just when I am standing around wearing the jacket casually. But I love that there are not zippers pressing into my hips when I have a harness or a pack on (which is often). I primarily use this thing for skiing, both resort and backcountry but it has a great fit and the stretchy material make it awesome for ice climbing when its drippy. I usually wear a large in Ortovox jackets but the XL Ortler fits me perfectly I am a full time, year-round mountain guide and a member of the Ortovox North American team I received this gear to test and use.

A Simple Pleasure

Although bright and flashy, what impresses with this jacket is it's simplicity. Light, yet tough. Warm when u need it, cools quick and can easily be layered or worn alone. The price seems customer oriented in that you get exactly what you pay for. I love it more everyday in each environment I expose it to.
