NRS Pilot Knife reviews and deals for sale

NRS designed its Pilot Knife specifically for freshwater boaters and rescue professionals due to the extreme convenience it adds to the water world. The stainless steel blade features a blunt tip so you don't accidentally puncture your boat or yourself, and the edge has smooth and serrated sections to help you cut through a variety of objects. NRS added a rust-resistant coating to the blade to keep it shiny and sharp for a long time.

The glass-reinforced polypropylene handle utilizes a TPR over-mold to give you a good grip, and it features a rope-cutting hook, a glass-breaking point at the end, a bottle opener, and a square hole that doubles as a valve wrench for oxygen tanks. NRS made the sheath out of glass-reinforced nylon to keep it strong, and two release mechanisms prevent the blade from falling out while you paddle. The sheath attaches to PFD lash tabs so you can always access it.

Knife for Pros

This is the knife that stays on my Professional Rescue PFD. It has a BIG profile, which may not be awesome on a small kayaking PFD, but I LOVE it for my application. I’m usually wearing gloves in cold water, so having a knife big enough to grab and feel is nice. Add in the fact that it mounts very securely on a lash tab and the sheath makes getting to the knife very easy, and read more it’s perfect. Cool extra features like a glass punch, rope cutting notch, and grippy handle make it great for professional rescuers. I also love that the whole thing is one piece of steel. No durability issues there!

Safe way to carry a 3" blade.

As a first a swift water first responder I am required to have a 3” blade, which is challenging to safely do in a fixed blade knife. The sheath keeps this tucked away and secure on my PFD. The window punch is a nice add on feature, eliminating an extra tool in my already extensive kit. A well thought our knife and sheath.

Great!

Great knife that sits snug on the PFD if you have one that's compatible. This knife is easily accessible and pops smoothly in and out of the sheath. Very well thought out piece of equipment and packs a lot of functionality into a small package.

The Best

This is the only river knife for me. Commercial guides and private boaters alike trust their lives to this very well thought out piece of gear. Best for saving you or your buddies life...or slicing avocados on the banks...

The best river knife

This thing is tough as nails, and the perfect fit for any river rat. It is slightly longer than the co-pilot so if you're in the market for a shorter blade for for the co-pilot. Other than that they're exactly the same construction. The sheath is perfect as well.

Great gift for Fire/Rescue

I purchased this knife for a family member who's a firefighter and heads up the USAR program. So far, he's enjoying its utility, it's light weight and nice handle! So far so good. Should probably buy another for myself!

Awesome river knife but maybe a bit big?

Everything Devin and Wes said below, is totally on point. But, this is a pretty big knife for the square patch on your pfd and it might be better to go with the co-pilot because you will get everything from this knife, in a smaller package and it doesn't have the point on the hilt which if you have a fiberglass or glass boat, it makes sense.. but I'm always afraid of puncturing read more my raft when hoping back in my raft because it sticks out like that, so i picked up the co-pilot and I've been using that since. On the other side of things though, that's an excellent puncher for shotgunning beers at camp. So pick your poison. No matter what, co-pilot or pilot, they are amazing knives for when as Wes put it... S*** hits the fan.

Great addition to you PFD

If you PFD has a square or diamond shaped slot, it means it's compatible with this knife and sheath. The holster allows it to attach securely to your pfd, with a squeeze grip that allows you to easily remove it from it's sheath and use it in that rare emergency situation you might need it. The stainless steel is really resistant to rust and considering how little you'll use it to read more actually cut things, this knife will stay sharp for years.

Kayaker or Rafters Best Friend

Sometimes s*** hits the fan and you are trapped under water wrapped in nylon. In that moment the last thing you want to have to worry about is your knife. NRS specifically designed this knife for these scenarios. With a serrated edge backed up by a seat belt cutter cutting though nylon straps is a breeze. The blunted tip makes sure you dont puncture your flipped boat or you spleen. read more The sheath is easy to use and keeps the blade secure when its not in use. And the bottle opener is for the celebrator beers after a safe trip down the river.

Does anyone make a lighter case/holder for this knife? I have the Ti model and I am pretty sure the case weighs more than the knife.
