NRS Compact Rescue Throw Bag reviews and deals for sale

The NRS Compact Rescue Throw Bag keeps 70 feet of floating line clipped to your kayak at all times, so you have it close at hand when someone has to wet exit. The bright yellow line is easily seen in the water and flying through the air when you toss it to your friend. A reinforced loop on both ends of the NRS Compact Rescue Throw Bag gives you a solid grip when the line comes tight and you have to reel in your pal.

Love the Compact Size

I have used the NRS throw bags for years as a whitewater rafting guide. When I started to get into whitewater kayaking last year I purchased the compact bag and it fits inside my Pyranha Burn just fine. Definitely an essential piece of gear for getting into whitewater.

Safety First

Hope to never need it but this is a great safety addition for our kayaks.

Seems Solid

Thankfully I haven't had to use this throwbag yet but it seems very well made and packable. I don't have a ton of space in my Aire inflatable kayak so this works out perfectly.

Grab One Before You Need One

Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Best to have one of these whenever you're about to head out on the water. Small enough to be unobtrusive and sturdy enough to get the job done in an emergency. Would recommend.

Gets the Job Done

I have never had to use it luckily. It is small so it packs out of the way in a full drift boat.

There when you need it

Pro Tip: throw bags are only as good as the thrower, practice. Set up a hola hoop in a grassy place. Try to hit it from increasing distance. Practice a stuffed throw and a coiled throw. Your skills might save a life.

Think You May Need It? ...You Need It

Bought this throw bag to have as a spare on my 16' raft. I have taken it on two multi-day trips, and ended up using it both times. Once to throw to a swimmer in swift water, and another to help get a boat unstuck from a rock. Both times the throw bag worked exactly as it should, and proved it lightness and durability. This is one of those items that you think is probably a good read more idea, and can end up being the thing that saves you when you need it most.

Good first impressions

Recently received my order of the NRS Compact Rescue Throw Bag. It was everything I anticipated save for one small detail. There's a nice buoyant foam disc at the base of the throw bag, and as one can tell from photos the throw line and bag itself are high visibility colors. The Compact does not have the elastic retention loops for a chem light that NRS's standard throw bag read more features. However there's more than enough room in the interior of the bag to include one. This units size makes it perfect for someone on a self guided kayak trip with a friend. This device is a tool and as such its function in the field is dependent on the user. Realize you're going to be throwing it ahead of and through a moving target caught in swift water. Practice! Rig it up on your PFD as you would in the field, then go out in your back yard and practice. Become accurate and proficient in the use of this throw bag long before you need it.

Glad we didn't need it!

Good to have on us- GREAT to not need it because we didn't have any emergencies on our trip.

Perfect!

I was looking for a good quality, but smaller throw bag. This fits the bill perfectly. I would buy this again!

I hope I never have to use it.

I have been out with my two kayaks a couple of times. I bought this because I like to be safe when having fun. I haven't needed to use this yet, but I feel better knowing that I have it. Particularly when I go with people outside my immediate family that I am responsible for like kids and older relatives.

Saved a life!

I love this throw bag! You can clip onto anything and is super easy to coil and toss. Used it several times over the summer.

A necessity

A must-have for any kayak, raft, or river-faring vessel. Compact, easy-to throw, and bright color allows for quick identification. Practice throwing and rescuing your buddies before you have to use it for real.

Perfect

Carry this when I am on low stress rivers and some play boating. Easy to carry and easy to throw.

Great Ropes!

Got two of these for a kayak trip we were guiding. Did not have a chance to use them except when I threw them out to dry. They threw well and look great!

Rope coils as it packs, The bag acts as a sea anchor allowing people to locate it easily. Performed exactly as expected.

Not the PRO compact bag

This is the NRS Compact Rescue Throw Bag, not the pro model. This model has the poly rope where the Pro model has the Dyneema.

Standard Safety Gear

This fits the standard length and type of throw rope - 70ft of polypro. Polypropylene is necessary because it is a floating line and the bag is to be tossed past the swimmer. One drawback to polypro is that UV light destabilizes it and should be inspected every six months.
