Not as great as I thought it would be...

This mess kit is ok but it looks cooler online than it really is. Not sure if it'll grow on me over time... It may.

Love it, but know what you want

I love this nesting mess kit for all the reasons others have stated here. I agree, it's a bit heavy for ultra light backpacking and takes up room. Know what you need on your trip. Are you solo backpacking? Use a jet boil and heat water? Maybe take along one cup and spork, and forget the rest. Front country trails with two people? Take the whole kit with your JetBoil and enjoy read more your meals. The bowls are big enough to hold a meal, and the cups are big enough to hold soup/oatmeal/tea/coffee or whatever you may like. Throw in a mini knife that fits inside the cups and you're set.

Works great, easy to clean!

I purchased the Mess Kit to have a dinner set for backpacking and car camping. The kit works great and is easy to clean. The 6-piece set is very compact, but sometimes I find myself not even needing the entire set. I have been using just one bowl and one spork if I am doing a day hike and want to make a meal along the way. It is nice to have the light weight bowl and utensils for read more day trips. The insulated mugs work great for wine!!

Nice Overall, Heavy for Backpacking

The bowl and spork are fine for backpacking but the insulated cups are too heavy (4.5oz each). Bowls are 2.2oz each and spork is 0.3oz each. The spork is long and sturdy enough for re-hydrated backpacking meals, but it does have a slightly weird texture. The insulated cups keep beverages warm for quite a while and will warm up your hands a bit as you hold warm beverages. The cups read more also have measurements on the inside (from 2oz to 10oz/60ml-300ml).

What we needed, spork is fragile though

We needed a couple extra dishes on a backpacking trip, and the mug and bowls and packability worked well. The spork however is not sturdy. One of them broke the second time I tried to unfold it. So I'd suggest another more durable spork if this is the only utensil you plan to bring.
