Mountain Hardwear Direct North GTX Windstopper Down Jacket - Women's reviews and deals for sale

The best days to be on the hill tend to be the worst days to be exposed to the weather—especially when you're generating your own windchill. With a Gore-Tex Windstopper membrane and 600-fill down insulation, this jacket provides all-day protection against single-digit temps on storm days to keep you on the prowl for powder while other resort-goers are warming up in the lodge.

Disappointed - you will feel the wind

This is my 3rd Mountain Hardwear jacket and I am disappointed in this one. The info claims that it's an insulated jacket made for cold and windy days on the slopes and it will protect you from whipping Alpine winds. Not true, especially when I compare it to the other insulated MH jacket I have. With this one, I felt the cold wind along the stiches on the arms, through the zippers read more under my arms and especially through the closing zipper on my chest while skiing. And this in a mere -8 Celsius wearing 2 merino wool layers. This coat is missing the exterior flap that protects the front zipper from the wind. The small zippers along the wrists are hard to work with ski mitts or gloves. You need to take the gloves off to open the zippers. I really don't think this coat is going to cut it on the slopes in -15 C and -20 C in Eastern Canada.

I love this jacket

I am so happy i got this jacket for the upcoming winter. Its something i can take backcountry skiing and then on a walk with the dog. I've stood in windy fields with 15-degree weather and this jacket kept me warm. It's great quality and worth every penny.

Looks Better In Person

This jacket is so warm and a perfect fit! It has gotten down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit this last week and it has kept me warm during those conditions. The sleeves are the perfect length and the length of the jacket is right below the hips. The darkest dawn color looks a little bit different in person, it is a darker purple then what is in the picture, it looks more like an eggplant read more color in person. The zippers are difficult to zip but that just means it is heavy duty, amirite?
