Metolius Pocket Aider - 3/4in - 5-Step reviews and deals for sale

The Metolius Easy Aider uses a unique adjustment system to help you size it precisely for aiding a pitch or jugging behind your partner. The foot loops can be tightened to your shoes with a simple nylon strap, so you don’t have to worry about your feet popping out over and over while you’re cleaning 200 feet of pins. Metolius used a wide foot loop to provide extra comfort—something you’ll really appreciate after five days on a grade VI nail-up.

Top stepping is trash

The pocket feature gets in the way of the top step. It is very difficult to top step in these.

Ideal for mixed free/aid

Great for long routes where you won't be aiding all the time - having these etriers pack up into their little bags really keeps down the clutter. If your objective is more than 75% aid, though, I'd opt for something with beefier steps and a spreader bar since these can get uncomfortable during extended aid. Also, top-stepping is pretty tricky (but not impossible!) without a spreader read more bar, especially if you're not aiding in climbing shoes. These were perfect for the RNWF of Half Dome, but got uncomfortable on the Salathe Wall on El Cap.

How To: Hook Out Of A Pothole in Imlay Canyon

Here is a little video I put together from doing Imlay Canyon in Zion National Park in Southern Utah. There is not a lot of Hooking videos on YouTube so I decided to make one. This was my first time hooking out of a pothole and I thought it was the funnest part of the canyon!

Knotted Rope Canyon (Dry) - San Rafael Swell 4-27-2012

I bought 2 of the Yellow Pocket Aiders to use while canyoneering. I bought them for use to help get out of potholes whether it be hooking my way out or in this case using Tibloks to grab the rope while we use the Aiders as a ladder to get out of a keeper pothole. They are very usefull for canyoneering because they are small, compact, and lightweight :)

Awesome!

Very nice aider. Simple to use and the foot loops are stiff so you don't have to finagle your feet in every time you take them out. I would recommend this to anyone.
