Metolius Bravo Key Lock Screw-Lock Carabiner reviews and deals for sale

You’ll want to applaud Metolius’ ingenuity when you rack up the Bravo Key Lock Screw-Lock Carabiner. In the interest of keeping things compact, Metolius built the Bravo to weigh in at a slim 43 grams—even though it still maintains a target strength of 25kN. Whether you’re setting up a complex anchor or just hooking up your hammock at camp, you’ll be glad this burly ‘biner doesn’t bog down your pack with unnecessary weight.

Fair price

This carabiner is super fair for the price, but it's not my favorite. It's lightweight, but screwing and unscrewing it can be annoying at times.

Returned item

I bought this carabiner as a backup one but ended up returning it and going with my go to carabiners (Black Diamond & Petzel) instead. No issues just a product preference!

Solid lil guy

Love this little locking biner. It has a lightweight compact design so you hardly notice it on your rack, but when you go to screw the gate closed you have multiple turns and it really makes things feel safe. Solid biner, and I'd recommend it to any climber.

Great Little Locker

Solid, light and small. If you are looking for a small locking biner this is definitely a good one and can't beat the price. I've used it mostly just for a personal anchor. Good, light and easy to use.

Great Small locker

One of the smallest lockers I've seen. Very light, and the screw gate is super smooth. I need to buy more.

Best locker on the market

Incredibly light, but that is a minor benefit of a perfectly sized and designed locker. The reviews about having to turn it too many times are comical. Really, a few turns is bad/painfull? This Biner locks positively. When it is screwed locked, you know it is locked. A single turn from open to locked is not ideal (aka camp orbit). Also, bigger is not better for most applications. read more For your ATC, sure, go bigger... But for just about every other locking application, the Bravo is the ideal size. One of the lightest lockers, but in a perfectly usable size. My favorite locker.

Bought them on sale, good buy

I grabbed 6 on sale once when they were about 5.50 each. I really like having smaller lockers for random stuff. If you want a small locker for belaying or for anchors for example or I use them on my PAS sometimes as well.

Small: convenient sometimes

The small size is pleasing, sometimes. However, sometimes it is too small. For example if you want clip a long cord on it by folding it up, it may not fit inside the biner. Furthermore, it you can't screw it shut in one motion like a black diamond locker. You have to manually push it 14 pushes with thumb (I counted) to close it

Adequate

I have several of these that I use for hammocks and other assorted tasks (mostly my car keys) but not for actual climbing. The opening is a little small and the twistlock will stick on occasion.

Small, but packs a punch.

I love the smaller size of these carabiners, and definitely like the blacked-out versions. It's true that the locking mechanism is a bit deep, but I've never minded that much. I've used them for hammocks, slackline, climbing, and generic utility.

Screwlock is not user friendly

You have to turn the screw 9 times before it locks. This one just can't compete with a BD or Petzl biner. While other ones can be loosened a couple flicks of the thumb this one requires you to unscrew it one turn at a time - and, I counted, there's 9 turns.

Mid/Small Locking Carabiner

I prefer twist gate biners and this one is super rad! It's nice and small so I use it with my Sterling self/anchoring system on my harness. It is small enough to fit on a chain link atop a route without taking up too much space or getting wedged in too tight. It seems like you have to twist it a few more times than your average twist gate, which may be annoying to some. Overall, read more I am happy with my purchase.

ok

Purchased these to put on a dogbone and use as quickdraws with lockers. Maybe wasn't the smartest engineering idea on my part. They take a long time to screw/unscrew (as noted elsewhere) and are tough to clip into. So, the lockers are fine but it was my fault for using them for this purpose.

Good carabiner, but...

It is definitively a good biner, but for the same weight, I would prefer Camp Photon or Climbing Technology Passion. I thought the Metolius too small in general, with small gate opening and with little "internal space".

Screw action takes forefer

Just a right size, great weight and profile. Feels bomber (as always when using Metolius hardware). And sooooooo slow screwlock action. It takes forever to lock or unlock it. It is good when you need a bit of extra safety (e.g., when you want to KNOW that your locker will not open by an accident by moving back and forth along some grainy rock). I would prefer CAMP Photon read more screw locks to this for most applications. upd 2014-08-07. After using a pair of these for year or so I updated the rating (increased to 4 stars). It is a next to perfect locker for anchors - ultralihgt, no bulk, screw action adds peace of mind. The most important "cool feature" - it has a very convenient shape to be put on and off to/from any anchor chains/links/etc. Grab 2 of them to your favorite crag to rig an anchor above your next project.

Awesome Mini Locker

If you are looking to add a small locking carabiner to your rack definitely check out the Metolius Bravo Key Lock Screw-Lock Carabiner. It is super small, and very lightweight, and even comes in an all black or "Murdered Out" color scheme. It's kinda hardcore.
