Klymit Pillow X Camp Pillow Reviews

June 22, 2020Good for the weight
This was perfect for a backpacking trip. When tired after a long day of hiking it was comfortable enough. It clealry doesn't replace an at-home pillow. It packs to a few inches in size.

September 17, 2019Pretty good.
This pillow is definitely lightweight and packs very small. The flat surface of the pillow is not big so it is not ideal if you move around in your sleep a lot. Like some other reviewers, I ended up wrapping it in an article of clothing to add some comfort. So overall for the weight not bad, but I'm still looking for the perfect lightweight backpacking pillow.

August 6, 2019So-so pillow.
Maybe I'm just picky, but I ended up wrapping this pillow in an extra jacket and sweatshirt to make it more comfortable while sleeping. I really like the idea of the backpacking pillow and it packs down super small, but when it came to sleeping - I wasn't horribly comfortable.

July 10, 2019Very comfortable!
This is the most comfortable inflatable pillow I've used for camping and backpacking. It packs down really small and only takes a few breaths to blow up.

July 8, 2019Nice for backpacking
Definitely, one of the more comfortable UL Pillows you can find. It's always nice having a comfortable place to lay your head after a big day in the backcountry. The only issue is the slippery exterior which will continue to slide off your pad. I eventually had to improvise by placing a t-shirt under it to keep it in place.

July 3, 2019Mehh
It did the job, I would definitely want to get a sleeping bag that would hold this in. Moved around a lot/easily. I would recommend to a friend that had a sack that held this puppy in. I do like how small that it can fold up and how lightweight it is you can just hang it from your pack if out backpacking or camping.

July 31, 2018Decent But Get the XL
Pretty okay pillow, might work better as a seat like the review below mentioned. The XL is definitely worth the extra money for the additional comfort.

June 16, 2018Pillow = Seat
I didn't buy this "pillow" to be used as a pillow; I bought it to use as a seat while scouting and hiking in the backcountry. It's incredibly lightweight and when fully deflated takes only a cubic inch or two of space. I've used in a handful of mountainous environments and it has been durable so far. More importantly it has been super comfortable; more comfortable than the ground… read more by orders of magnitude. Great little pillow-seat.

May 1, 2018So So Pillow - A little too small
Great idea and design. Love the packed weight and size. Pillow is just a little to small for my liking. Quality construction. Just too small.

September 3, 2017Great pillow!
It takes about 4 good breathes to fill it to my liking. I am not much of a firm pillow user, so I always deflate the pillow to about 60% and it is perfect. I sleep on my back so it is great! I have used other pillows and I have to say once packed up, it takes up very little space. For something super lightweight, it is fairly comfortable. I have used it while side sleeping before… read more and I actually was impressed. Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

February 24, 2017Not Really for Side and Stomach Sleepers
So I actually didn't buy this pillow per say, I got this in a Cairn Box a few months ago as a gift so I have a little less invested into wanting to like this bit of gear than some, but I think that might make me more brutally honest. So I kinda like this pillow I kinda don't, that's why it's getting 3 stars out of me. I like that it is something to put my head on when I sleep other… read more than the ground, it's pretty darn light, and the fact that I didn't personally shell out any cash for it is always a bonus, but honestly that's about it. I think the x shape is wonderful for designated back sleepers, as it does cradle the head very well but as a stomach sleeper who more or less uses a pillow as way to keep my arm from going numb from the weight of my head, this doesn't really do much for me. I was able to become somewhat comfortable by removing much of the air from the pillow and then using it only partially inflated, but the air constantly shifting from one air chamber to another was a bit annoying. Now this last point is equal parts a complaint and a pro-tip, as I've had this little sucker for over 7 months now and used it quite a bit despite my complaints. The material on the face of this pillow really isn't that comfortable against bare skin, now this isn't really a problem again for back sleepers, but for stomach and side sleepers this can be fairly uncomfortable and even downright sweaty in the summers, so to remedy this I simply use my Buff as a pillowcase to keep my skin off the plastic-like surface and it works like a charm. it even makes the pillow feel more like one solid pillow than four interconnected air chambers, which I like. So final thoughts, not a bad pillow, great for people who only sleep on their backs, and a usable pillow for anyone else. Usable, but not great. I will probably be switching to a sea to summit Aeros when i have that kind of money to waste on a luxury item like that.

November 23, 2016Easy to carry, comfortable
Carried it on the PCT through Washington. Barely added to my pack weight but every night I was glad it was there. Barely needs more than a couple breaths to inflate, holds the air all night. I'm a back sleeper, especially in the tent, so it was great to hold my head in place, but if you aren't, it's not really a good setup.

November 3, 2016Probably better if you have a long neck
Your head will be lifted off the ground, which is a plus. But I don't find this pillow very comfortable. The X shape makes it so your head is in the crater in the middle, your neck is resting on top of one baffle, and your shoulders are supposed to hit just under that baffle. I guess my neck isn't long enough (I'm pretty sure it's an average length!) because my shoulder has to hit… read more awkwardly on top of the baffle or my head isn't in the center. It's annoying and definitely not the most comfortable pillow I've ever used. But not unbearable. I still used it almost every day for 5 months of backpacking without getting rid of it. I met one other thruhiker that had the X pillow... he got rid of his.

August 1, 2016Alright Pillow
This pillow is very small and easy to use. It takes hardly any breath to blow up and allows you to decide the firmness. This pillow is excellent if you are a back sleeper. Downsides: if you roll around or do not sleep on the back of your head. This pillow is difficult to get use to.

October 31, 2015Never lost it
I never lost my pillow while sleeping, which I do quite often. With this pillow I have never lost my pillow while sleeping and my head stayed in the center of the pillow. Overall this is a great pillow the only thing I would like would be a softer material on the top.
