Katadyn Micropur Purification Tablets - 30-Pack reviews and deals for sale
Micropur MP1 tablets release chlorine dioxide, the same substance used in municipal drinking water plants worldwide. So not only is the water safe to drink, it also tastes great. Tablets are individually sealed for longest shelf life (5 years). Each of the 30 tablets included treats 1 liter of water. Wait time is as follows: 15 minutes for Viruses and Bacteria in all water, 30 minutes for Crypto and Giardia in normal water (60ºF, clear water), and 4 hours for Crypto in worst case water (39º F, very dirty, slightly acidic water, i.e. the kind you'd want to double pump with a purifier).

April 2, 2019Always carry
Only once have I had a filter fail, and I was glad I brought these. Easy to use, they weigh nothing and they kill everything, including crypto. The taste is minimal; open your bottle and let the air at it to lessen the taste. I like filter water directly into my water bladder, and then toss 2 Micropurs in on day 3 or 4 of a backpacking trip to clean it. A great product.

Purification time for everything is 4 hours. From what I can tell works great. We always have there in the pack and even keep some at home just incase.

August 21, 2018Taste isn't terrible
A stable in any emergency kit. Also really handy on long trail runs where carrying a pump doesn't make sense. I would highly recommend keeping a couple of these packets in your bag.

March 16, 2018Forget about water purifier pumps
Why carry the extra weight of a pump? these tablets work great and really don't have much of a taste. They are perfect for backpacking. I treat a gallon a day with them every trip I go on. Beats bending over a river and working a pump for 5 minutes.

October 31, 2017Essential
These tablets are essential for treating water in the backcountry. They don't taste horrible, and they work quickly at killing most virus and bacteria. The individually perforated tablet packages make it easy to pack just the right amount for any trip.

August 20, 2017When You've Gotta Be Sure
I often double up on filtration when I'm pulling water from questionable sources. Typically I've used a sawyer and iodine when I'm extra paranoid. These work better than iodine and don't taste bad. It's worth the piece of mind in situations where you absolutely cannot get sick.

August 20, 2017Tastes way better than I anticipated
These are the best for out in the wild when water either isn't readily available or you are too tired to pump with your filter (we've all been there). Taste is honestly not bad at all and doesn't stain your camelbak bladder or nalgene dark brown like other iodine tablets I've used in the past. I always have a couple packs of these stashed in my backpacks and car and of course always… read more bring them in addition to my water filtration system on backpacking trips. For sure recommend!

March 5, 2017Tastes ok
My brother used some of these on a recent trip and said they worked well - taste OK and he didn't get sick - so I bought some for myself to throw in a bug out bag and have generally for a backpacking trip coming up.

December 30, 2016Decent Purification
I only use these as a backup to my filter. I've used Aqua Mira before and like it, but these tablets are handy. I'm going to stay with Aqua Mira for long hikes and continue to use these tablets periodically, but not as my primary method of purifying water.

October 10, 2016best tablets I have used
I typically come prepared enough on the water purification front to not need tablets, but always carry them for back-up. I have only had to use these once, but I was 16 miles from the nearest city on a 260+ mile hike and this got my up and over the pass without getting any nasty tummy bugs. I have used other types of purification tablets and these bar far had the least taste when… read more the water was ready to drink. A big bonus for tablets, as taste is one of my least favorite aspects of having to use tablets. A must as a back-up to a quality water filter.

June 29, 2016Saving for an emergency
I got these for a canyoneering trip down to Escalante, UT just in case the Miox Purifier and Katadyn Vario both failed from the very silty river water. I ended up not needing them which is fine with me. I'll just hold onto these for an emergency water purification situation. It's always good to be prepared!

I have an PUR Guide Filter/Purifier with the old Iodine Filters, and am wondering if I replace the filters with the new filters (w/o Iodine ring) will the water be pure enough to drink straight from the filtration? I am traveling to a foreign country with my two year old and the water is not safe to drink. He has a bad habit of getting bath water in his mouth. I'm going with two girlfriends to Peru to hike Machu Picchu next month. We're trying to decide on the best option for purifying our water on the 5 day trek. Can I use this to treat warm or even hot water? I'm going on a trip to Africa. For a climb, some suggested to treat water even after the water is boiled by the accompanying staff (the reason is at high altitude the water might not have been completely boiled to bateria free level). Thanks.
