Kahtoola MICROspikes Traction System reviews and deals for sale
Instead of pulling the ol' banana peel slip and eating it on icy trails, strap on the Kahtoola MICROspikes Traction System for instant footing and more graceful movement. Burly stainless steel cleats are connected by flex chains and an elastomer harness for a snug and secure fit and high performance traction.
With a new lower profile harness, eyelet reinforcements, and an integrated toe bale, these MICROspikes are the lightest and lowest profile version yet. A heel tab makes the system a breeze to get on or off, and a sturdy front bar holds it in place up front. Whether you're walking the dog, fishing on a frozen river, or doing that high-altitude hike to an icy peak, the MICROspikes help you keep your footing and prevent your butt from hitting the ground. And now the MICROspikes come with a tote sack so you have somewhere to store them when you get to lower elevations.

February 23, 2020Confidence Inspiring
I bought these after I borrowed a pair from a friend. Freeze thaw cycles left trails and roads covered in rime ice. Add a few inches of fresh snow to hide the ice and you might have some serious issues when carrying a 60lb + rucksack. I was very confident hiking with these and most importantly I never slipped in the treacherous icy conditions. Works as advertised. Simple to put… read more on and take off. Comes with a carrying case so you don't puncture your gear or pack.

Must have if you are going to enjoy winter hiking. I felt very sturdy and secure with these on. Worked well on snow packed trails here in Utah.

February 2, 2020Must have for winter hiking
If youre hiking in the winter you have to have these when snowshoes or crampons are just too much. All of our scouts have them and we put them to the test in the Adirondack mountains every winter.

January 24, 2020Must have for winter hiking
I do a fair amount of winter hiking and I climb some steep hills that are covered in snow. I use to just time my time and carefully ascend the steep sections, walking sideways so that I don't slip, it would take me a not longer to reach the top. Now that I have the micro spikes in my pack, I can slip them on before I ascend a snow covered hill, they are easy to put on, don't feel… read more heavy on your feet and the traction is amazing! I can climb right up the steep slopes without slipping, if you get to a dry portion of the trail, no need to remove them, they do just fine on dirt but if you need to put your foot on some big dry rocks, you need be carful because they can slip. Overall, they make my hikes much safer, won't go hiking without them.

I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend and she says, "I don't know how I ever lived without these! They provide incredible traction in packed powder, slush, and ice. They fit easily over any shoes and are surprisingly easy to run in."

April 7, 2019A+ for Traction
When you come across an alpine snowfield, hit ice on the ascent during a trail run, or just need some extra traction for a slippery hike, these are the spikes you'll want. Wearing these is like walking on felt with velcro shoes - it almost feels like cheating. Plus, they're totally bombproof. My one and only complaint is that these are a bit heavy if you're counting grams but… read more the added protection is 100% worth the weight.

Got these for my mom and stepdad for christmas. They were in need of a new pair of spikes. They said they love these and how easy they are to put on. Haven't heard any complaints from them!

February 16, 2019MicroSpikes do it all!
I've been running Microspikes for years! They offer precise grip on a sheet of ice to the point you can walk with complete confidence. They are easy to take off and on, pack very well, and last for ages. I've even been in situations on steep trails that were completely iced over, but with some exposed boulders I had "hike" over, and the spikes gripped to the smooth rock surface… read more almost as well as they did on the ice sheets. If you are in a situation where you need grip and stability due to ice, get a pair of MicroSpikes!

January 31, 2019Stay active when it's cold
These are an awesome traction system. I've used them hiking and running through the snow and ice. Sometimes its nice to just use these for going up, take them off and run down with your regular trail shoes if it's not too icey. These have lasted so much longer than other brands I've used- I usually get two winters out of them if I store them inside to protect the rubber from… read more unnecessary heat/cold exposure. If you're between sizes, I would choose the larger size if it's a hiking shoe with a larger toe box, or choose the smaller size if its a running shoe. Don't walk on pavement/gravel with them and they'll last a long time.

January 31, 2019Durable, Lightweight, Get the job done
These are high quality. I use these on my winter hikes in the Wasatch on the icy trails. I am super confident in these spikes. They haven't let me down. I have a size large and I wear a size 11 trail running shoes. I trail run on the ice sometimes as well and they work great!

January 31, 2019Dogs won't drag me now
I just got these spikes for winter hikes with my dogs. They came highly recommended from a hiking group here in the Wasatch area as well as a friend of mine. They fit my boots great (Women Oboz winter boots size 9.5 with medium size Kahtoola spikes). They are easy to get on and off the boots and they come with a little storage/carrying bag for when not in use. Now I only hope we… read more will have a great Utah winter!

January 29, 2019Perfect for winter hikes
I love to hike and being able to get out in the winter is tough for me. These spikes have been a life saver! They're great for when the snow is packed down and slick. They hold great and I don't have to worry about slipping around. I got a pair for me and my husband. I'm a 7.5-8 and got a size small. I hope they hold up and don't stretch out!

January 6, 2019Great for Winter Hiking
I have used these a couple of times on packed snow & ice & found them to work well. They were tight to get on over my hiking boots, but I was definitely not worried about them slipping off.

January 1, 2019Easy on and off, good grip
These are easy to take on and off. They're also very light and packable, so you can stash them in your backpack when you're headed out for a hike and unsure of the conditions. These are great for walking around the neighborhood on icy roads or a hike on icy/snowy surfaces that aren't deep.

December 28, 2018Great Grip
These provide secure and reassuring traction on snow and ice. Since we usually hike on packed trails in the winter anyway, these have really replaced the need for snow shoes. As is mentioned below, in a pinch, you can continue to wear them on patches of bare trail if necessary.

May 16, 2019Would these be appropriate for late spring/early summer 14er ascents where I anticipate snow pack on trail at higher elevations? Or do I need full-on crampons?

May 24, 2018I take a women's 8 or 8.5 boot (US). Which size should I order? I'm concerned about a medium and I see you do not carry a small. I want to be a happy Customer and not have them come off or lose them in the Italian Dolomites on a week long hike with no civilization in sight.
