Great crew

Perfect for me when wearing for cross country skiing. Keeps warm but doesn’t run too hot, found the 200 too hot on days that weren’t freezing cold. Always found icebreaker as more comfortable as other brands

Base Layer for a greaet Man

Skiing has al ways been my passion. I get at least 15-20 days per year, which is more than brother even though kevin says he gets more. During those winter days i love to have a warm functional base layer. This is exactly what i needed and would recommend it to anyone who skis as much as i do! Maybe i'll get kevin one of these and put him to the test and really see if he can ski read more more than me because he says he can but im pretty sure he's just fibbing!

I love this base layer

Super soft and warm. Great base layer. Follow the directions on washing to maintain proper fit.

Wash Carefully

Warm, comfy, a lil itchy but all around exactly what you'd want out of a merino wool base layer. Be careful how you wash it; don't toss it in with the rest of your laundry. I just followed the instructions on the tag for my first few washes and had none of the issues other people are mentioning.

Avoid this piece

I own several items of merino base layers from icebreaker, and some of them are among my favorite pieces of outdoor apparel. This particular piece, however, is a piece of garbage. I always follow care instructions when laundering wool clothing, but this one came out completely distorted after just one washing. The neck opening literally doubled in size. $70 is too much to spend read more on something that is unusable after only 1 use. Not sure if mine is just defective or if quality control just missed one, but in spite of my earlier satisfaction with their products, I would definitely think twice before purchasing anything more from this manufacturer.

Very thin

Just got and it goes straight into my closet until I get rid of my beer belly. The fault is probably with me. I'm used to wearing base layers casually and even at the office, but this one is too thin and too snug for this purpose. It gets as see-through as a stocking around the chest and shoulders and it accentuates my belly in a less than flattering way. And, by the way, it's read more itchy. I have no idea why does everyone say it's not - it's the first thing you notice when you put it on. So, the initial impression is disappointing as it doesn't fit my purpose, so, if you are planning to wear it casually, don't. Unless you are terribly fit. Have no comment on its actual base layer function.

One of the Best Base Layers

If you haven't worn Merino Wool before, try it! This is a great place to start too! This is a very comfortable, not itchy, shirt. I've worn it on several day trips and never had any issues, not even with stink! Feel free to reach out directly to me with any questions.

Warm and clean

I bought this for my boyfriend to wear under his fire gear. This time of year it gets chilly at night in Montana. He says this has been keeping him much warmer than he would have been otherwise. Super stoked to have this.

Worth it.

A little snug in the belly...nothing unusual. Very cozy and warm. It doesn't dry quite as fast as I would like, but it is not bad.

Merino Wool is Worth The Hype!

I got this base layer in two colors for my husband because he always runs hot during times of high activity. He always thought merino wool was a marketing tactic but boy was he wrong! This thing wicks away moisture and keeps things dry. It's all he will wear now whenever we go snowboarding and he even picked up some merino wool bottoms to match! For reference, my husband is read more 5' 7" 150lbs and normally wears a 38short sport coat and the Medium fits perfectly.

MIND BLOWN

Initially I thought all the hype about merino wool, and Icebreaker specifically, was total BS. Holy bejeezers was I wrong! This base layer is hands-down the comfiest shirt I've ever owned. The fit is great for my athletic build; the wool sort of naturally finds your body shape, not skin tight but more like the coziest hug you ever got. Not only does the wool feel like it was conjured read more from straight magic, the thing smells great after wearing for four days straight of ski touring. Compared to my synthetic/capilene pieces, it's nearly unbelievable how much it doesn't smell like the buckets of sweat moving through it. Ok, yes, it's pricy-- but it's infinitely worth it. I'm throwing away every other shirt in my wardrobe.

Hooray for wool

This baselayer is excellent. It handled sweat incredibly well and kept me nice and warm on the mountain. I was really impressed with its drying time and wicking capabilities. The fit was snug, I wouldn't wear it by itself as it shows off a little too much of my stomach, but for a baselayer it was just the fit I was looking for. I got the blue color which I thought was really read more nice. The thing I was most impressed with was its ability not to get funky after 3 days of use. I intended to only wear it one day of my 4 days skiing, but I kept going back to it because my synthetic layers just weren't performing as well.

Great all purpose baselayer

It's no mystery that having a quality baselayer is a must for any remotely aerobic activities. It will vastly improve your comfort and therefore your happiness. However, I'm often not interested in getting decked out like I'm headed to an Iron Man if I'm just going to do a quick hike after work or a run around town. Or if I'm going skiing, but plan to hit the bare before/during/after read more the slopes. For those occasions it is great to have a nice simple casual looking baselayer piece, and this one fits the bill perfectly. It's not shiny, doesn't have neon stripes all over it, and it's not skin tight so I'm comfortable wearing it in more casual situations. However, it's tight enough to hug your body and do its job as a baselayer and the merino wool definitely provides the performance you need to stay comfortable. I've used mine primarily for fall running, and even once I get warmed up and start to get hot it does a really great job of breathing and keeping me comfortable. My favorite part is definitely the comfort advantage the wool has over synthetic running options. It is much softer, and much more comfortable at the beginning of your run when you'r still a little cold. In my opinion Icebreaker has better offerings for skiing and other super cold weather not-so-aerobic activities, but for the kind of use I have described this piece is perfect and I would highly recommend it. I am 6' 190 lbs and the XL is perfect for me. It's pretty snug, but doesn't choke me out.

Promising

Haven't got to use this much yet because it just hasn't been cold enough. Did get to use it a couple weekends ago at Joe's Valley on a little fishing trip. Temps dropped down to the low 40's both nights. Wore this both nights with a flannel and a vest and was warm enough around the fire not to need anything else. I usually stink up a baselayer after one use, wore this two nights read more in a row and doesn't smell yet. Merino is great! Seems don't rub like on some base layers I have had in the past. Supple fabric feels good against the skin. Doesn't take up much space in your pack, very thin but still warm. Runs true to size, fits tight though. If you are looking for a little looser fit I would go up one size.

The best baselayer of all time

I bought one of these years ago, have worn the hell out of it and it's still as good as day one. Fits great, insulates great and I'd have 10 more of them if they didn't cost so much.
